Pulling Together a Villain Reformation Strategy Chapter 43.5

Hey guys! I'm an avid reader who had Baidu Translate read her the chinese raws and liberally rewrote the heck out of the MTL. If you'd like to correct anything, just comment (I also consulted my mother, an avid consumer of chinese internet novels and a strict christian. Thanks for helping push the gay agenda!).

In the raws it says that this is Chapter 43, but from what I remember it should match up with the end of Asian Hobbyist's Chapter 44. I also have comments open on the doc!

His sword was fast, but his intended target was too much. Just after two mountain bends, Yun Xie put away the sword and jumped down with Jiang Xunyi. Still, he refused to look at Jiang Xunyi, and moved forward without a word.

Yun Xie felt like there was a fire in his heart, and that the tongue of the flames kept licking and licking at his heart until his flesh and blood were baked dry...it would make anyone insane with pain.

Yun Xie slowed for a while, and despondently opened his mouth. "Jiang Xunyi."

Jiang Xunyi followed after him silently, "En".

Yun Xie said, "You didn't kill the woman just now---they framed you?"

As the System never mentioned the matter, Jiang Xunyi automatically nodded.

Yun Xie abruptly stopped moving and turned around, his face extremely serious: "Then tell me that they also framed you for Feng Qiu's matter, that you never did it!"

"..." Jiang Xunyi didn't speak.

Yun Xie's patience was almost at his limit. He gritted his teeth and said, "Fuck, say something!"

Jiang Xunyi really didn't want to repeat that again, it would make him feel like he'd surrendered. But because Yun Xie kept pressing, he hesitated a bit then lightly said: "If I didn't do it, then why would I admit to it?"

Yun Xie's eyes immediately became red; Jiang Xunyi didn't expect him to react so much. Half startled and half puzzled1, he looked at Yun Xie in astonishment.

Yun Xie's voice trembled, but his face was ominous as he said, "Jiang Xunyi, did you know? I really want to kill you."

"..." Jiang Xunyi didn't expect that he actually liked Feng Qiu that much.

Yun Xie took another breath and gritted his teeth: "But just thinking about killing you, I'd rather die myself first! I...fucking hell! I don't know what to do with you!

He didn't know what was wrong with him. His hands were trembling out of control, hovering over the hilt of his sword. His breath felt suffocated, yet he was still afraid of accidentally hurting Jiang Xunyi like last time. He glared at Jiang Xunyi and said, "You stay away from me."

Yun Xie rarely had such an ugly attitude. This was the first time Jiang Xunyi had even heard him use such vulgar words; at a rare loss for words, he had no retort.

No matter the time or situation, of the most loyal companions in times of betrayal, only Yun Xie was always by his side. Even though he originally came to support this main character, somehow it was always Yun Xie accompanying him instead.

When he heard this voice again, Jiang Xunyi didn't beat around the bush; he quickly said "Contact customer service immediately."

His no nonsense attitude was an advantage, and customer service quickly connected. A gentle female voice began speaking in place of the cold mechanical one, although Jiang Xunyi knew very well that this was just a clever programming. It was just more advanced, capable of communication.

"Hello, glad to be of service."

Jiang Xunyi said, "The situation hasn't been great. I want to ask something."

"Please state your question."

-

In the gloomy temple hall, Jiang Xunyi's slender fingers tightened and closed up《Rising Clouds, Billowing Skies》: "Listen old man, I don't want to read on. Showing me this is useless---I know better than anyone what happened. Just say what you're here for."

Master He Deng shook his head and said, "Jiang Gongzi2, if you can't even confront your past, then what can you do?"

Despite his serious tone, he was grinning wide in a very annoying expression. Jiang Xunyi frowned: "I don't dare face my past? I'm disgusted just looking at it again!"

He paused, tapped his forefinger on the table, and calmed his breath again: "What do you want me to know? I think I already know what you mean. When I read this book, I could feel Yun Xie's thoughts; there seems to be a growing demonic qi influencing his spirit. His emotions are very irritable, and the qi seems to be absorbing his negative emotions. He could lose control at anytime---what happened?"

Master He Deng said, "Amitabha, Jiang Gongzi is keen and admired by this old man. But perhaps you've forgotten that you sealed away one of Xuanli's souls in Sect Leader Yun3 primordial spirit?"

Jiang Xunyi: "..."

Master He Deng sighed: "Sect Leader Yun's emotions were so turbulent that the Demon King's energy was able to temporarily break free and control his mind. You could say that it wasn't really Sect Leader Yun who killed you, but rather Xuanli Jun. In reality, you were the cause of the whole issue."

Although he didn't say it, his eyes said "You reap what you sow!"

Jiang Xun was silent; he finally understood why he couldn't return home after his death. The system had calculated his killer as Xuanli Jun instead of Yun Xie. He'd basically died for nothing! He said, "But isn't this part of the plot? In the future, Yun Xie is supposed to refine Xuanli's spirit and make a breakthrough in his skills. Isn't it supposed to go like this?"

Master He Deng said: "The plot is dead, but the people are alive. You should understand that with Sect Leader Yun's power and mentality, he shouldn't have been affected by this spirit. However, the obsessiveness and helplessness in his heart went unappeased, and it was unbearable4. Even the plot wouldn't guess that there would be such a big change in his mentality."

Jiang Xunyi felt like his brain was full of fog...puzzled and surprised, he said, "I really didn't see it! Yun Xie liked Qiu-shijie to this degree, if I'd known I'd…ah, what a mistake."

Master He Deng: "..."

Jiang Xunyi silently turned around, staring at the book on the table, feeling like his long-standing grievances were slowly breaking up. He shook his head with a sigh; what an unexpected turn of events. Despite this, the corners of his mouth lifted.

The fault at hand could be split 50/50 between Jiang Xunyi and Yun Xie, and everything had gone wrong. But as long he knew that Yun Xie's original intention never was to kill him5, he felt like not everything he'd done before was ridiculous.

Author originally had 70% startled and 30% puzzled, but I felt like that was awkward to translate.

"Gongzi" basically refers to a young male noble. He's still referring to Jiang Xunyi. Basically, he's using a pretty humble and deferential method to talk to Jiang Xunyi, but it's supposed to be mildly amusing because he's not really being respectful…

He actually said "雲宗主" to refer to Yun Xie.

Text originally said "以雲宗主的功力和心性,原本不至于被這一魄影響,無奈他心中執念太深,情之所至也就由不得人了。"...Yun Xie's heart is really too complicated... hopefully I translated this right lmao.

Original raws say "殺自己", which means kill myself. Not sure if this means Jiang Xunyi (in reference to himself, which I did) or Yun Xie (could also mean suicide).
