Princess of the insurgents 36 The hate

A few days ago, the old woman deprived Jane of her daily little moment of relaxation, charging her with a new chore instead: to scour the surroundings and pick up all the mushrooms and all the berries she could find.

Whether these mushrooms were good or bad, doesn't matter, because the old woman assured her that she would sort them herself afterwards. Since then, Jane, who is tired of being shouted at, walks every morning alone and unprotected in the hostile surroundings which contain no trace of food.

Jane even suspects that the vicious old woman discreetly wants to send her to meet death by confronting her with wild beasts, but without any evidence to expose her Machiavellian plan, Jane simply throws small stones at the old woman, as soon as her back is turned.

In this semi-wilderness nature, very little worried for her fate, Jane who has crossed the road of 3 Cerberuses that have strangely imploded, continues her morning walks without any goal, except that of no longer receiving the spittle of her leader in her face.

Today, back from her walk, when Jane sees the camp, her personal assistant indicates 11:10am. From her remote position, she can only guess the largest of the tent canvases, yet she already knows something is wrong.

Disturbed by the strange feeling that attacks her heart, Jane stops her steps. The camp is inhabited by many people and the children are particularly noisy, so she should hear them screaming and yet she doesn't perceive any noise. Worse, when she projecting her consciousness towards the camp, she can't perceive any thoughts emanating from the members of the group.

Recently, Jane has learned to better control the projection of her brain waves in order to map and detect possible traces of life in the surrounding area.

Her long, solitary walks proved useful in that she trained her abilities on old cars, abandoned objects found here and there, and thus developed her psychic powers. However, no matter how much progress she has made, Jane falls under the influence terrible anxiety when she is unable to locate Sally.

Remembering the presence of this not very loquacious Jonas at the camp, Jane relaxes a little.

In order not to assume the worst, she lies to herself and convinces herself that Sally must have gone with everyone else to collect food or, more simply, for a little digestive walk.

Despite everything, this feeling of peace regained by her self-pertuasion only lasts a moment and Jane starts running towards the camp, decidedly too quiet.

As she gets closer, her anxiety is heightened by the sight of one of the half-destroyed communal tents. She is clenching her teeth when she realizes only too late that the fire in the centre of the camp which usually burns continuously, is now emitting only a very thin trickle of smoke.

A little more than 600 feet from the camp, her brain waves collide some unknown obstacles in the camp and under the tents. Jane, who in the last few days has never felt this kind of thing, concentrates on these obstacles and very quickly the worry in her eyes is replaced by an murderous intention that she can't control.

Standing in the centre of the silent camp, Jane observes Jonas whose four limbs have been torn off and then vulgarly planted on stakes. His head is also absent from his body. Jane assumes, that it is probably the one still burning in the fire, but this smoking piece of meat is so black that she cannot identify it.

Around her, many other bodies lie on the ground. They all have a few things in common that connect them:

They were all killed with knives and other sharp objects such as machetes.

All are men, young teenage males or women over 50 years old.

Finally, all have had their eyes removed from their sockets and their ears cut off.

The camp leader is no exception. Like all the other women over 50, when Jane turns her head, she sees the poor old woman whose neck was slashed. The old woman with her back to the ground is only a few feet away from Jane, whose anger is still growing.

Jane walks towards Jonas trunk, recognizable by its wide belt of soft metal, which the murderers probably could not remove. What is left of the Neo-Human bathes in a pool of already partially dried blood, which Jane, carried away by her anger, ignores.

Jane, convinced that common assassins armed with simple knives could never have defeated such a man, decides to observe Jonas torso. However, turning over a dead body that no longer offers any holds such as a shoulder, is not so simple and she struggles a little to turn over what remains of the Neo-Human, cut into 6 pieces.

After Jonas trunk has rolled on itself and in the face of dozens of bullet impacts that have punctured the Neo-Human's skin, Jane understands better why this superman could be defeated by what she is now convinced to be ordinary humans cowardly enough to attack a group of pacifists.

Jane believes that burying the bodies would be the best thing to do. She believes in respecting the dead, however, while they were alive, these people had a different way of thinking. Although she is a little upset about handing these former companions over to the fangs of wild animals, Jane also knows that if she were to do according to her convictions, not only would she be denying the beliefs of her dead comrades, she would be wasting a valuable time.

Losing time here would be the worst mistake she could make, as it would allow the sadists who attacked the camp to torture Sally and her other companions, whose chances of staying alive are now very uncertain.

Unlike Jonas, to whom she never spoke, nor even crossed paths once, among all these deaths, Jane was very fond of many people. Just like the old woman who yelled at her every day but often joked with her, these other people have also always been kind to her.

Yet, however as anxious about Sally as she is, Jane, as she watched these old companions one last time, doesn't feel the slightest sadness. She knows that this is not normal, that a while ago she would probably have burst into tears, but yet, at this moment, the only thing on her mind is the slow agonie she will inflict on the murderers when she finds them.

Full of hatred, she promises herself that what Jonas suffered at their hands will be nothing compared to what she'll inflict to them.

As excited at the thought of torturing these strangers , than to find the trail of her companions, as her feet move away from the ground, Jane projects her conscience in all directions.
