Oscar Chapter 1.2

“I'll get some more air before I go in.”

Kamael hurried to say something before refusing.

“I'm an adult now. You don't have to worry too much because you won't stay long.”

“…Annette.”

Kamael's beautiful face that looked at her had changed to a serious expression again. He always made a cold face when he was with the other angels. As expected, it didn't work on him. A long sigh of disappointment flowed from Annette's lips.

“All right, all right.”

If he leaves the castle and always with such a stern face, it might not be something that other angels would understand when they first meet him.

“Please don't make me worry.”

There was a tone that came from his lips that made her unable to refuse him. She could have been more stubborn, but the reason Annette didn't do that was because of this. Unlike his serious expression, his low voice, directed at her, was as soft and warm as ever.

Every night, whenever she heard his words that seemed to hug her like wings, or his warm-hearted voice before she went to sleep, Annette felt as if her whole body was relaxing.

“I'm worried about you, and yet that's not enough?”

Kamael asked softly, his shining blue eyes in an almond-long shape. It was the color of his eyes that clearly distinguished him from her appearance. When they were young, both of their eyes were equally secolored, but as they grew up, the color changed. On the contrary to Annette's eyes getting closer to a dark purple as they became adults, Kamael's eyes became lighter and lighter, and now they had a breathtaking soft turkish glow.

“I'm sorry”.

Kamael shook his head, slightly frowning at Annette, who gently opened her mouth and apologized.

“You know I didn't want to hear that.”

Annette was not so dense that she didn't know what Kamael meant. According to the Archangel who was responsible for the mission of the new angels, Annette's original role in receiving the energy of the moon was to prove the existence of God with strong faith. However, Annette's ability had shown no signs of becoming stronger even until now.

Her biggest strength and weakness was curiosity. The books Kamael had brought her so far were enough to fill the wide library, but Annette's desire for knowledge could not be satisfied. She still wonders about the outside world.

It was another problem that she, an angel, could not clearly distinguish good from evil.

“Isn't the devil, man, and us all in the same position in that we are all under God?”

She still vividly remembered how Kamael looked when she, who was lying long on Kamael's leg at the window in the sun, suddenly said those words.

“Annette, don't say things like that in front of other angels. Especially in front of the archangel.”

At the end of his voice, which had never expressed shock in his life, was shaking. Kamael's face against the sun looked dark.

It was the most worrisome for curious angels to fall into the temptation of the devil and fall into decay. Therefore, her twin brother, Kamael, played a role in protecting Annette until she was fully grown and strong. Annette breathed a long breath and smiled meekly at him.

“Okay. Can I go in?”

She didn't want to be mean to Kamael anymore. Let's stop playing the role of a troublesome sister and get back inside today.

Annette's white, thin fingers pressed down on Kamael's forehead, which was still wrinkled.

“So don't make such a face. You look much better with a smile.”

Kamael's trembling warm breath touched her palm. As he said, she has worried him enough so far. Kamael said it was natural to protect her and her wellbeing. It's not that she didn't know how he felt.

“It's a particularly dangerous time. Please understand.”

Kamael grabbed her hand and gently pressed his lips on it's smooth back. His body temperature touching her skin was higher than usual because he still held onto the tension.

“I know. That's why you're busy.”

“It's not well known, but the heavens are almost in an emergency now.

The reason why he repeatedly asked was because of the recent unusual events. Shortly after Kamael joined the Angelic Legion, a demon invaded heaven. It has been a long time since the bloody war between heaven and hell, breaking the long truce.

“Is it really serious?”

Kamael most of the time would not tell her about what was going on outside. Annette asked with a little stiff expression, and he nodded.

“It's getting more and more aggressive. I thought it was a group, but it's varied.”

The devil who committed the provocation was soon decapitated by a border guard's sword, but the problem was that the appearance of several demons had become more frequent since then. Demons were not as united as they used to be, not in the level of moving in large groups. However, they repeatedly entered heaven, attacked angels, and disappeared like it was a kind of amusement.

“But it'll be sorted out soon. Then I can be with you all day.”

“If I'm alone, I won't be in trouble. I'm fine, so go to work.”

Kamael sighed softly toward Annette, who smiled languidly and shook his hand.

“You'll be fine, but….”

“Yes?”

“Because I'm not okay.”

With such a meticulous and determined personality, he must have been selected as a leader and trained as soon as he joined the Border Guard. Annette opened her mouth by gently holding Kamael's hand, who seemed to be sorry for his sister who would be left alone.

“Take care of yourself as much as I care about you. Kamael.”

Kamael said nothing for a moment and stared at Annette.  Then he intertwined his hands with hers, holding back his strength. His long, beautiful blonde hair fluttered everywhere.

“I hate to even imagine you hurt.  Do you understand?”

As he was frowning, she smiled slowly and his eyes that gazed at her slowly thinned.

“I will. My favorite angel.”

His warm lips stayed a little longer on the back of Annette's hand.

This time, Kamael's lips moved to her forehead as Annette tried to pull out her hands from the damp and itchy feeling. It was his usual kiss when he was summoned for work.

“I can go in there with you.”

“Allow me to do this.”

After Kamael held her cheeks in his big hands, she whispered in a rich low voice.

She could teleport herself around since she had wings formed, so Kamael let her into the castle on her own.

Maybe because she didn't want to see his wings. Compared to Kamael's elegant and large wings, her's was small and shabby.
