Not So Lonesome Road 37 Sentry Bots

Once we got outside I asked some patroling NCR soldiers if they could help me with the consoles. They agreed appearently word had already gotten around that we were allowed in the plant and they were ordered to help us with whatever we needed within reason.

They had all of the attack dogs in the cage surrounding the eastern console heel, making it easy to link it up with the tower. The western one was a bit more difficult, the soldiers here decided that disabling the traps the Brotherhood of Steel set up at the western console was too dangerous. I could see where they were coming from since even if they did it they still couldn't get up to the mainframe so it was pointless. And they couldn't just detonate the mines since it would destroy the computer too.

Luckily I had plenty of experience dealing with mines at this point and easily disarmed them as well as the bear traps and trip wire activated Shotguns. I now had over 20 Frag mines and was beginning to feel a bit unsafe carrying of those explosives around, I would have to make a bit of an effort to start using them more often.

With the traps out of the way I activated the western console, now all that was left was getting to that top of the tower. And all that was standing in my way was a buttload of dangerous military robots.

We took some time to get our gear sorted and our most powerful weapons ready. I gave Cass the Grenade Launcher again and loaded Ratslayer with armor piercing rounds with Boone doing the same with his Sniper Rifle.

"So what do you thing we can expect in here" Cass wondered out loud?

"Most likely a few turrets as well as Sentrybots, a few Mister Gutsy, and Protectrons."

"That sounds about right" Boone added "If this was really was a secret pre-war weapon they wouldn't have left it with weak security."

"Hench the big guns" Cass cocked the Grenade Launcher while sighing "Why are we doing this again? I doubt they're going to pay us enough to be worth going through this much trouble."

"You're right they probably won't pay us enough" I shrugged "but, activating this power plant is an important part of my plans."

"And what plans are these exactly" Boone asked raising an eyebrow?

"Please don't get him started" Cass whined.

"What plans" I laughed "Why my plans to take over the Mojave of course" I gestured grandly!

"Whatever, lets just get this over with" Cass groaned and started heading towards the tower.

Me and Boone got up and followed her. She was right there was no point and putting this off, it would probably be best to just get it over with.

The door slide open and we entered with me at the lead. Inside was a small stairway followed by a hallway that turned into a large open area. I stopped us at the corner and pretended to look around the corner.

"There's two turrets and at least one sentry bot" I whispered.

"So what do we do then" Cass asked?

"See that door over there" I pointed to the door not far from us across the hall?

They both nodded.

"The turret control terminal is inside, I'm going to rush across the hall and see if I can do anything with them."

"How could you possibly know- you know what I don't even want to know" Cass shook her head.

"Can you make it without getting shot" Boone asked?

"Let's find out" I rushed into the hall and and hit the button to open the door.

It took a painfully long time for the door to unlatch itself and fall into the floor. I rushed inside barely dodging the lasers that burned into the wall behind me.

"Are you crazy" Cass yelled "You could have gotten yourself killed!"

"But, I didn't" I smirked at her.

"Why you!"

"You two can flirt later" Boone interrupted us "right now we have a job to do."

Cass's face reddened and I lightly chuckled before turning to examine the room.

"There's a couple more mines in here so give me a second to disarm them."

I cleared the room and got five more mines!

helpless I shook my head and ignored my growing number of mines and hacked into the computer. Their security was decent but, my 80 Science gave me all kinds of advanced hacking knowledge, once I was in it was easy to clear their targeting systems and make it so that they shoot at anything that moves.

With my work done I pressed enter and executed my commands. Not almost immediatly I could hear the turrets coming to life in the next room and firing on the sentrybots inside.

"Initiating Defensive Protocols" the Sentrybots deep voices echoed out before their Gattling Lasers Revved up and onened fire on the turrets.

"Now" I said jumping out of the doorway with Boone and Cass folling suit. This was the best time to move when both the turrets and sentrybots were already distracted.

The room actually extended deeper into the ground and had a metal catwalk with stairs leading down. There were two sentrybots the first one was across the room level with us in another are but, was unable to come over here due to it being to big to cross the catwalk. The other sentrybot was on the floor below us and was the main target of the turrets.

"I'll go for the one on top" I screamed and started firing as rapidly as I could into it's torso.

"Got it" Cass responded and fired her grenade at the sentrybot below.

Boone joined in on firing the one below while I saw the sentrybot I was firing at moving it's Gattling Laser to fire at us. I pushed myself to fire even faster and finally must have hit something inportant as sparks started flying from it and the Sentrybot collapsed in a heap.

I turned to face the one below me just in time to see another grenade explode on it's face killing it. I quickly activated VATS and took out the two turrets before they had a chance to change their targets to us.

"Boom"

A series of explosions erupted as the sentrybots selfdestructed and the turrets above them were destroyed by my shots.

"That was intense" Cass gasped for breathe "I hope there aren't any more of the those."

"Well, now you jinxed it" I snarked.

"Sigh, whatever."
