Chapter 17 – Person from another world/The different world person

「それにしても今日は良い天気だね、君にとっては冒険日和なんじゃないかい？」

「ハッハッハ、真面目なのは結構だが、たまにはゆっくり体を休めることも必要だよ」

“Nevertheless, it is a fine day today, isn’t it an ideal day to go to adventure for you?”

ケルヴィンとリオの会話内容は至って普通なのだが、何やら部屋の中は不穏な空気だ。こんな所に間違ってアンジェが入って来でもしたら、穏やかに談笑する姿で行われる水面下の腹の探り合いに違和感を感じるだろう。
The content of the conversation of Kelvin and Rio is fairly common but, it is threatening air something or other in the room. Angie enters such a place by mistake and appears, the discomfort can be feel on calm looking friendly chat in probing each other’s hidden intention.

「参ったな、これは一本取られたよ。ところでケルヴィン君は異世界人なのかな？」
“I’m fed up, this one was taken. By the way Sir Kelvin are you a person from a another world?”

自然な会話の流れでとんでもない事聞いてくるな、この狸。ちなみにクロトやジェラールには俺の素性を話している。この世界には俺以外にも異世界人は極稀ではあるがいるそうだ。ジェラールに限っては、生前何度か会ったこともあるという。有名なところだと、メルフィーナが転生させたらしい美男美女の勇者４人組だ。機会を見て俺も会ってみたいものだ。
The flow of the conversation suddenly goes to unexpected direction, this sly fox. Incidentally, I told Clotho and Gerard my story. There are other people from different world aside from me which is very rare. Only Gerard, have met them several times during his lifetime. In case of popular place, 4 heroes of handsome men and beautiful women were reincarnated by Melfina. If given a chance I also want to meet them too.

―――結構な時間行われている牽制の投げ合いに、ケルヴィンはかなり疲れていた。報酬を頂きに来た筈が、行き成り境地に立たされたのだ。今日は厄日だと自分を呪っている。胆力のスキルで何とかポーカーフェイスは守られているものの、内心かなりボロボロであった。
The check and balance thrown to each other took quite some time, Kelvin was pretty tired. Cursing himself for the unlucky day. Poker-face was being reinforced by the courage-skill, but the mind was quite in tatters.

「……冒険者の素性を探るのは御法度の筈ですよ」

こいつ、何が狙いだ？

警戒する俺にリオはふうっと小さく息を吐く。
I’m wary at Rio who is exhaling less.

「すまない、私とした事が意地の悪い質問をしてしまったね」

リオが椅子を勧めてきたので、ひとまず座ることにする。
Since Rio pointed to a chair, I will sit for now.

「まずは君を異世界人と判断した理由を話そうか。君も鑑定眼を持っているようだから分かると思うが、私もＡ級鑑定眼を所有している。ちなみにステータスを拝見したのは３日程前だ。アンジェ君から有望な新人が居ると聞いて、影から見させてもらったよ」

「デラミスの巫女は神の預言を賜り、勇者を召喚した。巫女が言うには、魔王復活が近いうちに起こるそうだ。この所、その影響か大陸中でモンスターが凶暴になってきている」

「君が討伐に向かった黒霊騎士が強力になっていたのも、魔王が原因だと思われる。本来であればＤ級の依頼だったのだが、犠牲者が多過ぎた。いくら勇者と言えど、大陸中を護って回る訳にはいかないんだ。何よりも彼らには魔王討伐に専念して貰いたい」

“That cooperation with the reason. So what is this thing specifically?”

“…so what?”

This peaceful area has low-level monsters. There are no high-rank adventurer to pass here. Cashel is the highest. Meanwhile, Rio became impatient because of the appearance of the powerful evil spirits in the old castle which is a stone throw away.

「君には他の者では達成できない依頼を受けて貰いたい。それに見合う報酬は出すし、様々なサポートもしよう。もちろん無理だと思えば依頼を断ってもらっても構わない。要は君のような有望な者が、低ランクにいては不釣合いだと考えているんだ」

「その通りだ」

「正直に言うと、召喚士である君の力はどこに行っても喉から手が出るほど欲しい人材なんだ。ギルドでもそれは同じでね。どこかに取り込まれる前に冒険者として高みに上ってもらおうかとね」

“I think the conditions are too good.”

見透かされてるな。しかし、その条件であれば俺には文句はない。
He saw right through me. However, I have no complaint about the conditions.

「分かりました。協力しましょう」
“I understand. Let’s work together.”

ケルヴィンとリオは立ち上がり、握手を交わす。
Kelvin and Rio stand and shake their hands.
