Chapter 56: It All Begin with that Guy Named Left-Right

Once again, Yu Xiaoxiao and Gu Xinglang were led to the imperial study to see Xianzong. It was still Jing Zhong that came to escort the couple, acting respectful as ever. Nobody could tell that Yu Xiaoxiao had once cursed him with "damned eunuch."

Gu Xinglang took Yu Xiaoxiao's hand before they stepped into the study so that the expressionless girl wouldn't be so nervous because he was there. Yu Xiaoxiao had no idea what Gu Xinglang was thinking, so only glanced at him before striding inside. In the hall of the study stood Jing Mo, Zhao Qiuming and sons, as well as the seriously injured Consort Zhao. Yu Xiaoxiao also noticed that besides Zhao Beicheng, three more young noblemen were standing behind Zhao Qiuming. At a glance, she could tell they were brothers to the eldest Zhao son.

Xiao Zhuang and Xiao Wei carried Gu Xinglang into the room before preparing to withdraw.

"Don't leave, just stand there," Yu Xiaoxiao said. All the sons of the Zhao Clan were present, so they couldn't very well lose out on numbers. Xiao Zhuang and Xiao Wei didn't want to stay. What would happen when all these masters started arguing? Were they supposed to play deaf? Or what if a brawl broke out instead? Were they supposed to start fighting with the princess? The Zhao Clan was scum, but they couldn't afford to offend them.

Xianzong looked at Xiao Zhuang and Xiao Wei before saying, "Since Linglong told you both to stay, just stay."

Now the shadow guards had no choice but to remain.

Jing Mo gave Yu Xiaoxiao a long stare after she and Gu Xinglang finished paying respects to Xianzong. Yesterday, Qingyu had been revived by the doctor and detailed in tears how Yu Xiaoxiao had hit her. He knew Princess Linglong practiced martial arts, so she hit hard. But the girl in the long pink dress and light makeup now had exquisite brows and even a jade buyao in her hair. It was impossible to imagine her as someone who could get violent.

Gu Xinglang creased his brows at the sight of Jing Mo staring at Yu Xiaoxiao. He also wondered whether his second brother had already brought Yu Ziyi out of the capital yet.

Consort Zhao looked to be mourning as she quietly wept in response to his words. 

Zhao Qiuming said, "Your Eldest Highness, His Sixth Highness is currently unwell. How could he survive a long journey back to Zhuri with Your Eldest Highness?"

"Naturally, there are doctors when one is sick," Jing Mo replied. "Is Prime Minister Zhao concerned that I won't find one for His Sixth Highness? Furthermore, are my Zhuri's doctors incomparable to Fengtian's physicians?"

For the sake of the sixth imperial prince, Jing Mo and Zhao Qiuming began to argue. Unlike before, Zhao Qiuming had lost all of his servile respect and actually looked like he had some prime minister backbone. Yu Xiaoxiao and Gu Xinglang exchanged looks. Seeing that Third Young Master Gu was equally clueless, Yu Xiaoxiao felt lost. Had something changed in the world why she slept? Why was it suddenly Little Sixth in trouble and not Little Seventh?

"Your Majesty," Jing Mo suddenly broke off in the middle of his debate. "What do you think?"

Xianzong looked at Consort Zhao, who had grown thinner again. She was crying like a pear blossom bathed in rain, making his heart ache. Once again, he asked Jing Mo, "At least Your Eldest Highness should give Zhen an explanation for the change in princes, correct?"

Jing Mo smiled. "I've already told Your Majesty my reasons."

Because His Seventh Highness is too young? Veins popped out on Xianzong's head. Yu Ziming was only three years old this year. Did that count as old?

Jing Mo said, "Your Majesty, who else besides the seventh prince do you find as a suitable candidate to come with me to Zhuri?"

Xianzong didn't dare to choose between his sons. Their mothers would have no end of it with him. Moreover, how was he supposed to part with any of his children?

Jing Mo looked at Yu Xiaoxiao and asked, "Princess, what do you say?"

Consort Zhao's sobs stopped.

Yu Xiaoxiao simply replied, "Just pick Little Sixth, he's a fine choice."

"Your Majesty!" Consort Zhao wailed. She couldn't look at Yu Xiaoxiao for fear that she'd killed that cheap girl on the spot.

Xianzong said, "Linglong, your sixth brother is still young."

Yu Xiaoxiao said, "Oh. But my Little Seventh is even younger, ah."

Xianzong was rendered mute.

Consort Zhao looked at Yu Xiaoxiao and weeped, "Your Royal Highness, are you abandoning His Sixth Highness for the sake of His Seventh Highness? He's your brother too, ah."

Yu Xiaoxiao was stunned. "I have to take care of Little Sixth too?" She had a total of seven little brothers, none of which grew up to be any good. How was she supposed to take care of them all? Had Consort Zhao gone mad?

Consort Zhao wept harder at her words. "Princess, your words wound my heart."

Gu Xinglang spoke up next. "Esteemed Consort Zhao, all seven princes are the princess's imperial brothers. She wouldn't bear to part with any of them, but one has to go to Zhuri eventually. Which one does esteemed consort find best?"

"Your Majesty," Jing Mo spoke up. "My departure date to Zhuri will not change. I ask that Your Majesty make arrangements early."

Zhao Qiuming shut his eyes. It looked like there was no going back. 

It was then that a eunuch hollered from outside, "Your Majesty, White Tiger Nation's Zuo You, Grand Marshal Zuo, asks for an audience."

Xianzong was vexed and didn't want to see anyone, but he couldn't offend the Grand Marshal of White Tiger Nation's army. "Let him into the palace," he had to say.

Yu Xiaoxiao looked towards the entrance. Left-Right, the guy that started it all, was coming.
