Exodus: Guns And Gore 56 Water Wielder

Q looked at his son and then at the four women staring at QJ. For once someone else had poked the bear. Quinn was having a great deal of difficulty maintaining a straight face.

QJ was leaving for the Basara Continent and would be fairly busy with the King's Quest for the next few days. He had decided to come clean and tell them of the 'sharing the water' incident. He hadn't expected the shit storm that formed and then raged over him. Tal immediately wanted to start another X-Server war, this time with Gunships. Leah declared Redline and Mojo was discussing with her mother how many commandos she could send.

Of the four women, only Lara Sy had remained calm. She smiled at him while pushing a stray lock of her blue hair behind one ear. "What are you planning to do QJ?"

QJ cleared his throat and then stood up. "I'm going to act properly and ensure her safety. The most effective way to do that is to raise my banner and become the ruler of the tribes of Basara, starting with the Dunjai Clans."

All three of his 'moms' stopped speaking and stared at him in surprise. They hadn't expected him to say that.

"Since this is my decision, I will thank everyone for their concern and politely remind them that I haven't asked anyone here for assistance."

Quinn held up a hand to stop any further discussion. "QJ is a grown man and doesn't need to ask our permission to act. Nor should we step in and interfere if he hasn't asked."

Leah seemed to want to argue, but instead, she canceled Redline. "You make sure that no one harms Sierra before we've had a chance to meet her."

Tal nodded in agreement, "not one hair on her head is to be touched."

Mojo closed her hud and watched him with her lavender eyes. "Handle this properly QJ."

"Leave it to me." QJ walked out of the conference room, leaving them all staring in silence.

Robin stood up to follow him but was stopped when Tal caught her eye.

Unexpectedly she approached the Songbird and embraced her. Tal's pretty blue eyes were warm. "You should view this Sandhealer woman like a younger sister and protect her at all cost."

For once the orange-haired Songbird was speechless. She only nodded in reply, her urge to run was nearly overwhelming when Leah and Mojo closed in.

Leah smiled sweetly, her freckled nose wrinkling slightly. "Return safely with both of them."

***********

The long staff the woman held made her seem taller than she was. She wore sleeveless plain white robes and walked barefoot on the shore of the Bosai river. At the end of her staff was a swirling orb of azure water that reflected her immediate surroundings. "Please stand up Jesu elders, I am not someone worthy of your kneeling."

Elder Shani slowly stood up, "it is our honor that the Water Wielder visits the Jesu tribes."

Ra smiled pleasantly. "I've always admired the Jesu, it seems that your tribe has received the Water King's Blessing." She continued walking along the riverbank until it opened to a vast lake. Her dark brown eyes sparkled as she took in the body of water. The unsolvable riddle that gave access to the inner-workings of the Ancient City had lasted only a few minutes under his QJ's speculation. They had only spent a few hours together but she relived those moments endlessly in her head.

"Can we see the Water King?" Elder Shani bowed deeply when she spoke, she dare not kneel again since the Water Wielder had forbidden it. It was common knowledge that the blue orb at the end of the Water Staff could reflect people and events.

Ra froze in place, her heart racing as a sick feeling settled in her stomach. She used it to see him one time a few nights after he left. He had been lying in the arms of a beautiful woman with orange hair. The event had crushed her emotionally and the normally calm woman cried the remainder of the evening. "One time then."

The entire tribe crowded around her and sat down so that those behind could see. The orb spun slowly, an image slowly forming. A young man stood on the docks waiting, he was surrounded by many others. He had short black hair and sky-blue eyes. He smiled at someone who was speaking to him, it was a smile that made Ra's heart pound. "Beware a handsome man." She whispered the words under her breath.

**************

"Oh god... Why does it have to be a boat?" Sato's face showed his discomfort as he stepped on board. His family used to go on annual cruises, the young freckled Sato had spent most of those vacations worshipping the porcelain goddess. The sea and Sato did not agree.

Breeze laughed and slapped him hard on the back. "If you hurl, I'm going to stream it live!"

The Basara Continent was located on the other side of the Khabi Ocean. Unless you had accessed a portal in Basara, your first trip there would have to be by ship. If you logged off while on this type of long-distance trip, your character would appear to be sleeping while you were gone.

The OP guild had set up on the front deck of the ship. There weren't any cabins, so everyone would be sleeping in the night air. Ringo was leaning over the rail watching the busy dock while the crew readied the ship for departure.

"It's amazing isn't it?" Ringo inhaled deeply, she could smell the sea air mixed with the slightly less pleasant odors of the busy dock. They had ported to Sahallen and purchased berths for the entire guild. She glanced at the blonde-haired woman next to her, who was basking in the warm sun with her eyes closed.

Dessi opened one eye and peered at her friend. "Sometimes my job is really awesome." She had very nearly resigned her position when she had discovered that two of her students were responsible for all of the problems in Maelstrom. She hadn't disagreed with their grab for power, after all this was a game based on the accumulation of wealth, friends and strength. The way they had gone about it was abhorrent. Not to mention incredibly stupid. Her students had sparked a x-server war that had resulted in a Top Legends guild being toppled.

An hour later after everyone settled, QJ called an officers meeting so he could brief them on certain events. "I'll make this short since everyone wants to log-off for lunch. Last time I was here I was helping a woman named Sierra Sandhealer, she is the head of the Sandhealer Faction. My quest was to keep her alive while she accessed an Ancient City with several other factions of the Dunjai. The two of us managed to enter some sort of Old Water Plant. We spent most of the evening getting it operational. Those events led directly to the sudden formation of rivers and lakes in Basara." QJ paused for a moment, giving his friends a chance to ask questions.

Dessi remembered from the Star Crossed Ball that his rank was that of a Foreign Duke. "Your title of Water King and Sand Healer Faction leader were a result of this?"

QJ nodded, "The door to the Engineers building that accessed the Water Station had a few riddles that needed solving." He brought up his hud and showed them a copy of the door from his quest logs.

Sato snorted loudly, "the hell is that gibberish?"

Ringo stared at the puzzle door that QJ had enlarged. Sato had the right idea, it was complete nonsense to anyone not well versed in math and engineering. "That's the reason we are here, you opened a door that no one else could understand. Well done QJ."

QJ smiled at the compliment, since starting GnG, he and Ringo had established a very good relationship. His teacher didn't let many people into her inner circle, Dessi and he were two of the lucky ones.

Breeze was ignoring most of what QJ said, instead, she was studying the map of Basara. "So who is the bad guy we are after?"

"I didn't get a name from Ra. She only said he was from the Royal faction and most likely had a hand in the death of the Raja and his son."

Ringo connected the dots quickly. "She's the one who everyone associates with the formation of rivers and lakes in Basara. He's looking to grab some of that."

Lotte noticed the shortened version of Sierra, it was obvious that she was a trusted ally. "He'll marry her and eventually stories will spread that give him all the credit."

Maya had been listening to the other officers discuss the events. Even though she was a third-year, she felt like this freshman class towered over her. Her mom had recommended that she stick as close to QJ as she could. "So we are stepping into a fight. I love it."

QJ nodded in agreement. "We are definitely stepping into a fight. Although no one will be trying to take us on immediately."

Sato clapped his hands together, "Can I be a Duke once you are King?"

QJ laughed and shook his head. "Court Jester most likely."

"Bastard." Sato sighed heavily, "does that come with good benefits?"

"Sure... If you like goofy hats." QJ leaned back against the rail. "If there's nothing else, I'm going to log-off and get some lunch."

Ringo held her hand up. "One thing, we are calling this a class field trip so no one is required to attend classes for the duration of this quest."

Breeze pounded a hand on the wooden deck. "You're awesome!"

Dessi stood up, "see you guys after lunch. I'm going to brief my class."
