The sudden attack on the gathered disciples by an icy, tall, six-armed creature unleashed a mass panic in the area. Before they could even enter the area where the icy fog had started to dissipate, they were in danger.
This was unexpected as people had let their guard down as the two Mystic Diviners battled.
Around five people were dead, all core disciples. Only Mystic Diviner Hailac managed to somewhat dodge in time as she bent her body upon sensing the danger, but instead of her head, her arm was taken away. Only she knew how it was ripped apart with a single pull as the creature rushed past her.
"Ahhhh!!!"
But still, Mystic Diviner Hailac's screams grew several times worse as she held her shoulder. She turned around and tried to run, tears brimming out of her eyes as though she had never endured such pain in her life. Her pitch-white eyes were already blind, so she didn't rely on the natural perception of her eyes but on her senses to see through her eyes.
However, with fear gripping her heart, she was unable to use her perception properly but quickly took out something.
The Unfettered Gargantuan Ice Fiend's body fell to the ground and rolled around like a ball before it came to a stop, blood leaking out of its severed neck. However, there was a layer of pitch-black energy floating around the severed part, appearing quite ominous and permanent, as though it was trying to corrupt its very nature.
During this time, not even Tia had a change in her expression as she absolutely believed that Davis wouldn't make the mistake of leaving them alone, and they were right.
Nadia had stayed behind. The Unfettered Gargantuan Ice Fiend didn't even see her attack coming and died before it even knew what had happened. They all smirked, feeling quite proud of their fellow magical beast sister who took care of dangers before it even neared them, as always.
However, Davis had his eyes narrowed at the Unfettered Gargantuan Ice Fiend's carcass for a moment before shaking his head.
"That's not the Unfettered Gargantuan Ice Fiend, is it?"
"I... I don't know... but what makes you say that?"
Mystic Diviner Hailac shook her head absentmindedly before she returned her gaze to him. Did he truly anticipate the unknown creature's movements and have his mount stay with his people instead of having the mount protect him?
Was it his intelligence, or was he that confident in his strength?
"Well, for one, it's not quite... gargantuan, is it?"
Davis's expression betrayed his confusion, causing Mystic Diviner Hailac to be speechless again as she turned to look at its carcass.
Indeed, this unknown creature was no more than thirty-meter tall, so in the world of immortals, it definitely could not be called gargantuan, much less huge or even large. Even the Immortal Beast Stage dragons were around five hundred meters tall, and the average immortal beasts were a hundred meters tall or long.
Nonetheless, her senses quickly panned around as she saw Niel Bladeheart and a few others heading toward her, but the majority of the disciples had disappeared.
She knew that the others had rushed past this area, entering the treasure area, but only a few true disciples who could possibly go against this unknown creature stayed here, and one among them was also the Emperor of Death.
If he didn't come to her aid, she was afraid that she would have really died. Here, even a teleportation talisman wouldn't help. Instead of sending her out, it might even send her to the depths of the icy abyss, so unless she was truly backed to a corner with no help nearby, she was reluctant to use it.
Thinking like this, she couldn't help but raise her head and ask.
"You... why did you save me?"
Upon hearing Mystic Diviner Hailac's moved voice and shimmering white eyes, Davis's lips curled as his expression became bashful.
"That tutoring fee for divination classes... it's expensive, right?"
