Can I Move In With You?

Old Madam Xu looked at Xu Zhengyang. “Xu Zhengyang, go ahead.”

Xu Zhengyan, who had been staring at Qi Shenbai, heard Old Madam Xu's words and quickly looked away. “Grandma…”

Old Madam Xu asked, “Is what Jiaojiao said true?”

Xu Zhengyang did not answer. He first glanced at Xu Jiaojiao, who was pleading him wordlessly. Xu Zhengyang sighed in his heart, but on the surface, he had to bite the bullet and help cover up the lie. “That's right, Grandmother. I introduced them to each other. Although Jiaojiao and that idiot Lu Zhuo…”

Realizing that he had used the wrong words, he quickly changed his words. “Although she did have an engagement with Lu Zhuo, times have changed now. Jiaojiao doesn't like Lu Zhuo. It'd be unfair to make her fulfill the engagement against her will. We're Jiaojiao's family, aren't we? We want nothing more than for her to be happily married.”

Old Madam Xu did not say if she believed him or not. Instead, she turned to look at Qi Shenbai and said in a serious tone, “Mr. Qi, do you really love our Jiaojiao?”

Qi Shenbai did not answer immediately. Instead, he glanced at Xu Jiaojiao first. Xu Jiaojiao instantly became nervous. Her heart was in her throat as she looked at him pitifully with her big, dewy eyes.

Qi Shenbai retracted his gaze without a trace and nodded calmly. “Yes.” After a pause, he added, “I love her very much.” After saying that, a faint hint of a smile slowly appeared in his dark eyes as he looked at Xu Jiaojiao dotingly.

Xu Jiaojiao first heaved a sigh of relief. When she met Qi Shenbai's gaze, though, her heart trembled and she subconsciously avoided it. This person's gaze was too flirtatious, as if he really did love her deeply.

Old Madam Xu frowned and thought for a while before sighing. “Alright. Since Jiaojiao doesn't like Lu Zhuo, the engagement with the Lu family will be annulled. I'll explain everything to Old Madam Lu later.”

Old Madam Xu did not know that Lu Zhuo had broken off the engagement first, but her parents did. When they heard this, they quickly said, “We'll just talk to the Lu family about this. Take good care of yourself and don't worry.”

Mrs. Xu looked at her son and daughter-in-law and hesitated for a moment before looking at Qi Shenbai. “Then, Lil Qi, I'll leave our Jiaojiao to you.”

Xu Zhengyang listened from the side and his mouth was about to cramp up from laughing. Lil Qi? Hahaha, in the entire Luo City, only his grandmother dared to call Qi Shenbai that!

Qi Shenbai's eyes were calm as he replied in a polite yet friendly tone, “Rest assured, Grandmother.”

Xu Jiaojiao was not the only one who was surprised by his words. Even Xu Zhengyang was stunned. That man was a really good actor! He even changed his way of addressing her so quickly!

Old Madam Xu's health was not good, so she had to force herself to sit through the wedding. Now that everything was taken care of, Mr. and Mrs. Xu sent her back to the hospital. Old Madam Xu could not do without the care of the doctors and nurses.

Xu Zhengyang was also called away and asked to drive her to the hospital. Before he left, Xu Zhengyang glanced at Qi Shenbai, silently warning him not to act rashly.

All of a sudden, only Qi Shenbai and Xu Jiaojiao were left in the huge villa. It was quiet and awkward.

After a few seconds of silence, Xu Jiaojiao spoke first, “Mr. Qi, thank you for today.”

“No worries.” Perhaps because the elders had left, Qi Shenbai returned to his previous cold appearance.

Xu Jiaojiao knew that Qi Shenbai had only agreed to her ridiculous request today to save his sister. They had merely made a deal. Even so, Qi Shenbai was still willing to cooperate with her and convince his grandmother. She was grateful.

Xu Jiaojiao said, “Mr. Qi, I won't go back on my word to save your sister, but I have a presumptuous request.”

When Qi Shenbai heard this, he glanced at Xu Jiaojiao coldly. Xu Jiaojiao pursed her lips and said softly, “Can I move in with you?”

Without waiting for Qi Shenbai to answer, Xu Jiaojiao quickly added, “I know this request is too much, but considering the current situation… I promise I won't disturb your life.” After a pause, she continued, “If you really feel troubled, it's fine. I'll think of another way.”

Xu Jiaojiao's face scrunched up because she could not think of any excuse to separate a newly married couple…

Qi Shen glanced at Xu Jiaojiao, taking in her expression.

Next thing she knew, they were at Qingshui Villa.

Xu Jiaojiao was still in a daze when Qi Shenbai's assistant, Pei Yan, sent her to the entrance of Qingshui Villa. She did not expect Qi Shenbai to really agree to her request.

Pei Yan handed Xu Jiaojiao's luggage to the villa's housekeeper. Out of goodwill, he reminded her, “Miss Xu, Mr. Qi doesn't like strangers entering his room. Apart from the bedroom and study room, you can go wherever you want.”
