Chapter 43.2   She was his only treasure, didn’t she know that?

Regarding the matter of love, Xu Xu was certainly clueless. At the casino, Ji Bai had appeared like a fearless and rugged hero descending from heaven. She had naturally been affected, her heart was pounding. However, the situation had already passed, she would not want to ponder over it in close detail. Another fact was, even if it had been another colleague who had been abducted, she would still have braved the danger alone to rescue that person. Even while summing up her performance, she had thought: if Ji Bai had not been the captive, she would have displayed greater calmness and thoroughness. Her emotions and judgements were greatly affected as she was worried about Ji Bai.

However, just a moment ago Ji Bai’s hug had left her with an intense feeling. The deep and throbbing emotions which had previously surfaced, once again overwhelmed her. And this intense outpouring of emotions was inextricably linked to Ji Bai.  With his departure it became more and more urgent, and only he could appease it.

Just as Xu Xu arrived in front of Ji Bai’s room, two Interpol officers had just came out from the room. They were already wearing bulletproof vests and were equipped with guns at their sides. The use of guns in this operation was approved by China and Myanmar.

The lighting in Ji Bai’s room was soft. Ji Bai had already put on his bulletproof vest while around his waist was a belt that held a gun and an ammunition clip. Ji Bai was looking down as he buttoned up his shirt. He had a calm and serious look on his face. When he looked up, he saw Xu Xu who had just entered with an engrossed look on her face. The first response that came into his mind was to ask: “Are there any problems?”

Xu Xu’s face was a little hot as she quickly walked over and pulled the shirt from his hand and helped him fasten his buttons.

Ji Bai, at a loss for words, watched his little woman’s cheeks blush as she helped him button up his shirt. When Xu Xu had finished buttoning his shirt, without a word, she grasped the collar of his shirt, stood on her tiptoes, lifted her head and kissed him. Ji Bai was faster than her, in one swift action, he grabbed her by the waist and pulled her into a tight embrace. He lowered his head and forcefully kissed her with passion.

The kiss soon ended. Ji Bai went downstairs to join his colleagues on the bus and left. Xu Xu walked briskly back to her room and returned to her work. She felt her mind had cleared up and that she could face any challenges thrown at her.

As expected, feelings needed to be expressed and needed to be satisfied. Being able to both express her feelings and receive satisfaction from Ji Bai was indeed perfect.

On that same day, in Mina City, it was not only Brother Lu who was disturbed, but also Commander Jue Wen, the supreme military commander of Kachin State.

Located on the outskirts of town, darkness gradually fell at the Royal Lake Mansion as the lights were coming on in sequence around the villa.

The huge mansion had been built fronting the waters as tranquility surrounded the elegantly built villa. At the front of the door, a spacious terrace was built with bamboos stringed together. Jue Wen with his eyes closed was relaxing on a rattan chair.

His aide-de-camp respectfully stood a few steps away: “Commander, which unit should we send to Mai Zha city? The Chinese are in a great hurry.”

Jue Wen opened his eyes. He is a military commander, who had spent half his life in the army, had deep wrinkles at the corners of his eyes, but his body was as fit as a young man and his appearance was handsome and ruddy. He paused for a moment, and asked: “Right now, who is the closest to Mai Zha city?”

The aide-de-camp answered: “General Po of the 2nd Brigade has just been sent to relieve the garrison near Mai Zha City this month.”

Jue Wen closed his eyes once again, and murmured: “Then send Po.”

In Mai Zha City, both parties had been in a stalemate all night, with neither party willing to back down. Finally, they were able to welcome dawn in a peaceful manner.

On the dusty highway into the city, a large convoy of trucks full of soldiers was speeding into the city. In order to meet up with the commander of the army as soon as possible before the operations began, the special investigation team members were waiting by the roadside to welcome the troops. After a month of hardship, today their effort would finally pay off. Everyone was being serious as they were determined to achieve their final goal.

Ji Bai and Xu Xu were concentrating fully on the case. It was only occasionally that they would meet each other’s eyes with mutual understanding and each other’s wry smile.

At last, a SUV stopped in front of Ji Bai and the others. A tall and imposing officer, surrounded by soldiers, strode over. He wore a gray-green camouflage uniform. His skin was tanned and he had an angular face, criss-crossed with dark red scars, causing him to look extremely fierce and cruel.

Eyes with a tinge of hostility swept over the crowd. He suddenly laughed, and spoke in broken Chinese: “Hello, I am the commander of the 2nd Brigade of the Kachin Independent Forces, General Po. I hope we will cooperate happily with each other.”

Just as Po arrived at Mai Zha city, in the distant city of Mina, Commander Jue Wen had just gotten out of bed. He was standing outside his villa amidst a beautiful setting of lakes and mountains, gazing off into the distance.

The aide-de-camp standing at the side looked at his serene face, whispered: “The arrangement you made yesterday, I have some doubts – since you suspect Po being the force behind the Chinese mafia, the disturbance caused at the border, and the large sum of embezzlement, why did you allow him to go? The Chinese have a saying ‘to steal what is entrusted to one’s care.’ (*) .”

(*) It means stealing, embezzling money, which they oversee or manage

Jue Wen smiled indifferently: “I don’t care whether or not we get rid of the Chinese mafia. Po has done me service, his military prestige is also high, but in these last few years, he has been too arrogantly presumptuous.I do not like this. The Chinese have another saying, ‘to make use of one person to get rid of another.’(**). If he turns over a new leaf this time, and strictly enforces the law, I will tolerate him for the time being. If he wildly stirs up trouble, I would have a justifiable reason to kill him, despite all the service he has given me, in order to express my sincerity to China.”
