The lone dragon 33 Boo !

Wagging it's tail, a cute little snow white fox pounced on Eluraa's arms and looked at her pitifully.

All three of them couldn't help but gaze at that adorable creature for a second.

"Ahem ahem. Ok enough of this already. I know you can understand me but can you also respond back by any chance?"

The cute little fox continued with its act and gently nodded its head, as if it was saying no.

"I guess we can't really do anything about it then. Maybe this is a temporary situation and I will regain my soul strength and other stats after a bit of resting.

"And even in the ancient times, it was incredibly rare for the contracted beast to be able to communicate with the beast master. It was mostly a one- sided relation."

"Anyways for now all we can do is hide quietly and make sure we survive until help arrives."

The three of them still camped near the huge tree and were sitting in three different directions, watching out for any suspicious events or approaching beasts.

Time slowly ticked on and soon it will be nightfall. Eluraa and Shi Meng began to panic and worry a little bit. They really did expect help to arrive a long time ago. They didn't understand what was taking them so long.

Though, Jian Tan was still in his original form and kept stealing glances at Eluraa and making different faces at her. Both Shi Meng and Eluraa were too tired to respond to his antics and ignored him.

And not knowing what to do this sleazy Fox, Eluraa just let it be on her lap. She even began to gently stroke its head while keeping her look out.

"Damn this feels nice ! Yes yes .. this overlord absolutely deserves this kind of treatment. Keep going. That's the spot." The fox sat happily purring on Eluraa's lap.

A couple more hours passed. The evening rosy orange hue painted the sky and there was a blissful silence penetrating the lush forest. Except for the gentle murmur of the swaying branches and the dancing leaves, there wasn't much else going on.

Suddenly, the fox on Eluraa's lap jolted upright from it's lazy position. "Oh shit! Somebody is approaching us. These three idiots are super weak and can't sense anything. They are just sitting here like statues and look at that one, he is almost asleep. Is this how you keep watch !? Idiots!"

"Hmm. What do I do now? I acted as if I couldn't communicate with her. Now how can I suddenly talk to her. Shit. And she has been in a bad mood. She might just kill me if she knew I cheated her and kept on cheating her. Even the cute disguise won't save me now."

The fox got up and stood in the direction of the approaching danger and started hissing and clawing. "That direction you idiots! Notice please ! Someone is coming! Hide further or do something !" The cute little fox was panicking on the inside.

But unfortunately, Eluraa just yawned and asked, "hey hey what happened now? Are you hungry?" And she shoved some dry bread into it's mouth.

Ptew. The fox spit it out and again started hissing and clawing. "Hmm did Jian Tan do something?" The fox nodded no vigorously and started hissing even more louder.

Luckily for it, after it's third try Eluraa grew cautious and tried her best to sense if something dangerous lied ahead. But unfortunately she didn't have enough mana to cast a large scale scanning spell or protection spells.

"Well foxy ! because of you, even if there is some danger ahead, we can only sit and wait here quietly. I am completely powerless after binding with you. Do you think my condition would reverse ? Do you know something about this ?"

After deciding to keep playing the innocent card, the fox nodded saying no.

"Well then, let's wait and see what happens now." The trio and the fox snuck into the small hole at the bottom of the huge tree trunk and tried to keep a pin drop silence. They were all smooshed against each other and no one could move a muscle.

Soon they could hear some foot steps nearby. Eluraa began to mentally prepare herself for a course of attack. But surprisingly, the footsteps didn't sound like those of magical creatures.

While the other three were trying to stay still, the little foxy was panicking. "Shit! Fuck it all! Looks like the druid freaks are here. That's it. This is the end for me. Ahhh. Where did it all go wrong."

Thuck Thuck Thuck .. the footsteps slowed down as they were approaching the tree. The little fox was shivering. Noticing that, the trio was also trembling and sweating.

" Boo !! "

All four jumped up on fright. But Eluraa immediately broke into a smile and literally rushed out and hugged the intruder.

Patting Eluraa gently on the back, Max slowly helped the other two out of the tree hole, "Sorry it took a while kiddos. I had to evade some suspicious characters. Come on aboard. Let's not stay here anymore. This area has been determined SSS dangerous."
