The heartbreak

"- - wait, Ashley, I am so busy, got to complete_"
Ashley interrupted her. "Phoebe trust me this could wait. Look there's something interesting, Logan and Ava got together for ya, so come on". Ashley pulled her out of the desk to the open door.
But Phoebe paused in her footsteps, trying to jerk her hand away from the girl who was pulling her. She felt so sceptical to follow her because right now, she was been pushed and pulled by her arch-nemesis in school. This Ashley of a girl was a said distant cousin of her best friend, Ava and had been her sworn enemy ever since she was newly admitted into the prestigious university. Always picking on her, antagonizing her at every given opportunity and she was often lucky to have Ava always defend her. For goodness sake, she was nothing but a new student who just wanted to read, get high grades and leave the school but no this bitch wouldn't have it. She was hell-bent on following and picking on her.
" Ugh". Ashley groaned in frustration. "Come hither bitch". Ashley pulled her close to whisper into her ears. " Logan and Ava have been planning a surprise that would turn you gobsmacked. Shh don't tell 'em, I told you". She chuckled, pulling the confused Phoebe along with her.
Logan and Ava were planning a surprise for her? Was that why they hadn't been frequent attending classes? She was so curious to see the gobsmacking surprise.
Ashley continued to pull her out of the class, steering them around to head to the junior's block. Now, why was she taking her to the junior's block? Different thoughts raced through her mind.
"Easy peasy girl, we are almost there". Ashley said to the girl, whom she was pulling. She could already sense her uneasiness.
Phoebe saw many students both the juniors and the seniors, clustered together, cheering and giggling at something she couldn't see because the crowd was obstructing her to see what it was. Weren't they supposed to be in the canteen?. Phoebe thought as she heard a cheerful loud voice from her arch-nemesis; Ashley who was asking the student to make a pathway for them.
" Excuse me!! Coming through!!, coming through!!". They squeezed and squeezed before coming in front of the crowd but Ashley was not done. She drew her out, singling her from the crowd while pointing at something under the tree.
Phoebe directed her eyes to see what was been pointed at, seeing something, she had never expected to see. Her boyfriend, Logan and her best friend; Ava were in their world, kissing ferociously like they were been starved of each other for a long time and had the students cheer for them.
Phoebe felt her heart had stopped. No, not her heart, it was her world. The world she had built and weaved around Logan and Ava was crumbling.
So this was it. This was the reason Logan had been avoiding her calls, not texting her back, no longer sitting with her in class and always coming up with the excuse of being busy in the basketball practices.
She saw some students whispering while pointing in her direction before bursting into giggles. She could completely see they were mocking her.

"Oh my!. I truly love Logan the hot guy, going out with Ava, I mean she's so hot and beautiful and I mean it, they are so hot and cute together unlike someone who is a scruff-looking nerd herder and always on clothes produced from potato sacks". Phoebe heard one of the girls say before the rest of the girls burst into giggles, whom she quickly recognised as one of Ashley's friends.

She swept her eyes to Ashley to see her fold her hands with a big grin on her lips before she shrugged like this wasn't a big deal. So this was a set-up. Her head was spinning. She couldn't describe the various emotions, she was beginning to feel.

" Like what you see, stupid?. Poor girls should know when to stop flowing with their idiocy and never try to dream of having a wonderful life with the rich, especially the hot ones, uh-huh!". She said, making a face at Phoebe.
Phoebe threw her eyes back to the people, she had ever trusted as they were still engrossed in kissing each other without even a pause and she felt glued to the ground, staring at them with weepy eyes. She was hurt, she was very hurt!!!. She felt her heart sink in the realization she was facing.

Her heart was throbbing in pain and she felt like going down on the ground, she was standing to weep. She couldn't watch this anymore. She felt stupid, she was so stupid. She was so dumb to come over here on the insistence of Ashley. But what had she expected?.
Was she expecting a lot of her favourite chocolate cakes, a ground filled with beautiful red roses and decorated with balloons and then Logan coming behind her, to go down on a knee, presenting a gold ring or maybe a diamond ring to propose to her?. She truly deserved to be called stupid over and over again.

Phoebe broke down in tears before she veered around with her hands palming her face as she ran off, pushing through the crowd to get past them. Rather than going back to the class to go get her backpack and notes, she dashed toward the gate, not wanting to spend any seconds around the people, who had hurt her.
She hated them, she hated everyone. This was the worst day of her entire life. She didn't want to be here any longer.
