The first day

My soul catapulted forward and stars passed by me in the blink of an eye, I could feel Einstein rolling in his grave as I traveled thousands, perhaps millions of times faster than the speed of light.

Blackholes tried to pull me in, but even as I entered the event horizon, I remained unaffected in my pursuit of the source of the scream.

Asteroids and planets were passed through, I could feel the heat of their cores trying to force me out, which I complied with.

After a minute of traveling at such immense speeds, I arrived at a large dark space.

There was nothing beyond here, in fact, I'm pretty sure this is the edge of the universe, with only nothing stretching on from beyond here.

But in the distance, there was light, I could see a lot of lights in fact, all like islands in a sea of void.

Maybe those are other universes, maybe the laws of physics are different there, but I have to make that distance.

This is so suicidal, but whatever, I have nothing to lose anyway.

I had no way of knowing what would happen to me if I entered the darkness, which was now away from me again as the universe continued its expansion, but I had to try.

People needed my help, and my momma didn't raise a quitter!

With a deep inhale and exhale, I went to the closest black hole and used it to accelerate my speed further, slingshotting myself into the darkness.

I braced for pain, for some monster to chase me, but nothing happened.

In fact, that was the most disturbing thing, there wasn't a thing here, no atoms, no quarks, nothing at all, only the empty canvas on which the universe is drawn.

After hours of traveling through this disturbing silence, I reached the border of the universe in which the scream was heard, the universe rushed to meet me, but the second I entered, I got a very warm welcome.

Biblically accurate angels surrounded me, seemingly unhappy about me, the intruder, inviting themselves over.

"Hi...?" I tried to talk, but either they weren't interested, or they couldn't talk, either way, I had to run.

And so I did, and I immediately crashed into a black hole, barely stopping around the singularity, nearly crashing into it, which probably wouldn't be very good for me.

The angels didn't chase me though, they probably think I'm dead, let's stay here for a bit.

I then rested near the singularity, my fascination with it enough to help me occupy the time.

It was a fascinating thing, looking at something infinitely thin yet infinitely strong.

Such a small thing, yet it alone broke the laws of all physics as humanity knew them.

After allowing my inner nerd to have its fun, I peeked out of the event horizon, surprised to find nothing waiting for me.

No ambush? Are they stupid or am I weird for surviving inside a black hole?

I quickly rushed towards the planet I heard the scream from, the occasional vail helping me locate it, and as I got into the system, I could hear the scream again.

I rushed towards it, arriving around the atmosphere in a matter of seconds.

In fact... I may have overshot it a bit, instead plummeting directly into the atmosphere.

Ooopise...?

The weird thing is, as I fell and neared the planet's surface, I saw a dead body right below me, and I realized all too late I was gonna crash into it.

Desperately steering myself out of the way, I was too slow as my soul slammed into the corpse.

I let out a gasp as I coughed violently, the blood in my lungs making breathing incredibly difficult.

However, the wounds on my body healed remarkably quickly, and after a few minutes, I felt better than ever.

The clothes I had were torn, specifically with a large hole above where my heart would be.

Seems like the poor girl was stabbed to death for whatever reason.

The clothes themselves were like studded leather armor with a black skirt, which went down to my knees.

...Who the fuck would wear a skirt when going into the woods alone? I don't even have a weapon on me.

...No money either, the pockets are all empty. Well, this is pretty bad, isn't it?

Lost alone in the woods on a completely foreign world in a completely foreign and hostile universe.

...I need to think things through more. Dont I?

I don't even know if they speak the same languages here, I planned to orbit the planet and learn everything I would need to help out and then do some shenanigans, but I made such a dumb mistake...

Well to be fair, the human mind wasn't made for that kind of speed, but whatever.

I got up from the grassy floor and surveyed my surroundings, the local area was an average forest, very much like that on Earth, so that's at least one similarity.

The grass was a familiar green, and the leaves softly rustled as the wind blew by.

Then, in the middle of the quiet peace, Alexandra felt the ground shake as suddenly, from behind a thick tree, a wild boar rushed at her.

She couldn't respond in time as her body was sent flying by the heavy creature, its large tusks penetrating her skin, drawing first blood.

Alexandra struggled to get up, the two bleeding injuries in her stomach making it difficult to stand.

Her muscles cramped as she stood leaning on a tree behind her, the boar preparing another charge.

Alexandra's mind raced as she tried to find a way out of the situation, but before she could come up with one, the boar charged again.

This time, Alexandra barely dodged, unintentionally causing the boar to charge head-first into a tree behind her, its tusks stuck in the wood.

Alexandra, seeing the opportunity, stood up as fast as her weakened body would allow, the boar frantically tried to rip its tusks out, aware of the prey behind it now becoming the predator.

Alexandra carefully went behind the boar, grabbed a stick off the ground, snapped it in half causing sharp protrusions to appear in the half she still held, and from a safe distance, she showed the stick into the struggling boar, piercing its brain, killing it instantly.

Alexandra fell to the ground, her legs and arms still shaking from the adrenaline in her veins, her body still working in fight or flight.

I took sharp breaths as I looked at the boar, the blood spilling from the now pierced eye, the wounds on my stomach still bleeding profusely.

At this rate, I will bleed to death.

I clutched the injuries, grunting in the searing hot pain they were now causing with the adrenaline out of my system.

"Just stop bleeding god damn it!" I lightly cursed, but unexpectedly, a light glowed from my hands, healing the wounds.

There was still a scar, and it still hurt like hell to move, but I wasn't bleeding anymore.

Shocked, I did the same with my other injury, and it worked, though this time I felt tired after healing myself.

Looking at the boar, I decided to quickly leave before the smell attracted bigger animals towards the free meal.

I need to find a river, without water I won't make it long, and there is always civilization near rivers, they might not speak the same language, but it's my best bet.

So I began stumbling through the forest with my impromptu spear, the leaves on the ground crunching beneath my feet to my utmost frustration.

As I walked, using the stick to clear the leaves in front of me to check for snakes, I realized what dried-up leaves on the ground meant.

Winter is coming, and I don't know how much time I have until it snows.

And the noise the leaves made didn't exactly help me think, so I just stopped dreading something I couldn't defend against for now.

If I get killed by a predator because they hear me, I will burn every leaf in all the universes to the ground, though the winter won't be a problem anymore at least.

Despite these complaints, nothing happened, and soon enough, darkness fell.

I, in my infinite wisdom, saw the potential danger of the night and already found a good camping spot by the time the sun set, and with my scout skills, I created a good fire.

My camp was set up on a small hill, no trees were on this small hill and it gave me a nice vantage point, hopefully, the fire will discourage any animals from approaching me while I sleep.

I could feel my dry throat and my stomach rumbling, I didn't drink or eat anything for the whole day, and that fatigue from using the magic earlier hasn't disappeared either, I probably need to eat or sleep to recover energy.

That's bad news. I'm not a hunter, I went to the scouts for survival training when I was young, but I never hunted anything with modern weapons, never even considering getting close and physical with it.

I'm not a cavewoman, but I will have to learn quickly if I want to survive.

First, I will continue looking for a river or lake, there I will try to make a makeshift spear and hunt some fish with it, getting water and food at the same time.

I'll need to find a good spot near the water, one that can protect me from the elements, not an open hill when it could rain anytime.

Catching a fever now would be an execution, just a longer and more painful one.

Why did I have to just charge at the planet like that?! Fucking moron!

My injuries still hurt like hell too, they won't recover until I give my body something to recover with most likely, and hunting with an injury is not a good idea, even collecting stones and setting up a safe fire was already pushing my limits above and beyond.

My spine is destroyed too, walking hunched over for hours is not healthy, it's dangerous in fact, since a snake would have an easier time striking my throat and killing me instantly.

As I continued to strategize, I didn't even realize when I started nodding off, and soon enough, I fell asleep on the soft grass beneath me.
