Chapter 1: My Beloved Character, Lumins (1)

“Boo…Hoo…Why are you doing this to Luminee!!”

I bawled my eyes out until my eyes were swollen and shouted at the screen of my smartphone screen. My smartphone screen was now covered with my tears, this marked the 15th time of Lumin's death while I played the game.

My beloved character, Lumins Hadelf, was one of the 'capture' targets of the female-oriented otome game 

But the problem was my beloved character, Lumins.

There are five capture targets in the game, and when Lumins didn't pair up with the heroine, he died. Even when he paired up with the heroine, that won't guarantee his safety either. One wrong choice could lead him to death.

There were so many death flags that make me want to strangle the developer's neck and ask whether it was necessary to put so many bad ending in otome games with RPG elements inside it. I was about to finish the last route of this game, which include Lumins and could be called as the main lead's grand finale. This route makes me think.

'This is the grand finale of the main lead route, Lumin won't die, right?'

I started to play this last route with this hope. I was so relieved that Lumin was safe until the climax.  But he sacrificed himself when the final boss appeared so that he could save the heroine…

After he died, I pressed the screen like a madwoman and won the final boss battle. All the characters were happy and thrilled. But I felt so left out because I was so busy doing funeral in my brain for my favourite character.

[Thank you for saving me, who was stuck in his body.] 

The view of my phone screen started to change. It's like revealing the secret behind everything that happened before. At the other ending, the truth behind the story wasn't much revealed and it doesn't feel like the good ending either. Maybe a god was sealed inside the final boss. And now the god appeared like a real hero to fix everything.

[I see that you've collected all the wish fragments. What is your wish?] 

This must be the reason why the game keeps making the player gathering items called 'Wish Fragments'. When you finished the last route, and the god will ask you, and some choices will popup. 'Please give this world an eternal peace!'. 'I don't need God in this world, I will live on and decide my own fate.'

But.

“What did I know about world peace? I knew nothing.”

While rubbing my swollen eyes, I shouted.

“Save my Lumin! Make my Lumin happy!”

It become quiet after I shouted. Now, let's see the ending…

As soon as I tried to touch the screen again, the dazzling light comes out from my smartphone and spread out in all directions.

“Aaah, what's with this light?”

At the same time, I heard this voice.

[Your wish has been heard.]

You're the game director. When I nodded, a huge amount of light started to fill in my room.

It was too bright that I couldn't even see what is happening. The light was way brighter than the brightness of my smartphone when I maximized it. I close my eyes tightly.
