The Tyrant Covets The S*ave Chapter 36

“Intruders!”

The enemy discovered them because they had stayed in one place too long. Beher used her magic to wrap a stream of water around the man's neck. While she was in the middle of it, Lucai pulled out his sword at once and cut off the enemy's head as it was.

Thud!

When Beher saw the head fall without power, she felt sick. But she couldn't be weak when she thought about the hyenas that would pounce on the scent of blood.

“Do you want to go into that cave?”

“Yes.”

After checking to see if there was any magic trap, Beher entered the cave with Lucai.

The lights were bright and tinkling. Their shadows were painted on the wall of the cave. Although they were in the cave, the wind blew well.

Even the sound of breathing was loud in the cave. It was as if a dragon was sleeping deep inside the cave.

Beher was glad she wore boots. Otherwise, it would have been difficult to walk barefoot through the bumpy ground.

“There'll be guards deep down.”

Lucai gave a small nod. Then he checked carefully to see if Beher was well followed.

Lucai bent over and snuggled up against the wall. Beher was also nervous and snuggled up to him. They killed their breath. Someone was walking toward them.

Tak. Tak. Tak.

The sound of torches burning and footsteps echoed quietly.

There was no space to hide. Beher bit her lip. It was frustrating not to be able to jump out of the way. The slave traders would surely find them and there would be a fight if they knew there were intruders.

If caught here, her father might take her away and beat her to death. Beher knew better than anyone how little patience her father had. The price for running away will come back with a stab in the heart.

She was starting to feel faint. Raising her hands to her chest to maintain a sense of normalcy, Beher slowly calmed down.

“Shhh, it's all right.”

Lucai, who was watching the situation, tightened his grip on Beher's hand. They didn't face each other because they were in the enemy's camp. Lucai, staring ahead, repeatedly squeezed Beher's hand.

“I'm fine now….”

Nevertheless, Lucai didn't let go of her hand, so Beher forced her hand out. The warmth left her hand. A chill and a sinking spirit ate away at her hand.

Fortunately, the group that was walking toward this side seemed to have turned back.

“It seemed intruders had entered.”

“I'm amazed at the courage of those guys. I can't believe they hit this place. Does it mean that they are going to war with the Vitan Empire?”

Beher raised her eyebrows at the confident words. They were the group under her father's control.

Perhaps Ron was abducted by them. They would have injected him with strong medicine, forced him to keep quiet, and brought him here. It was highly likely that they brought him here knowing the fact that he was a spiritualist.

Beher and Lucai went deep into the cave, avoiding the human trail as much as possible. Soon a prison should appear.

As they walked along, Lucai held Beher's hand again. She tried to force it out, but to no avail.

“The enemy will come.”

“But this…..”

A moment of carelessness could get themselves killed. Lucai was the Knight Commander, he could not have been unaware of this. If he knew the environment in which she grew up, he would not easily offer her this warm hand.

What he knew was the scar that was on her back. Perhaps he thought it was from the war. Then she fled, abandoning her status as an imperial Princess.

She was an experiment, a weapon. How would Lucai react if he knew who she actually was?

The thought was cut short, Lucai's cautious voice echoed.

“Looks like it's over there.”

They were approaching an exceptionally heavily guarded area. The interior of the cave had always been large and labyrinthine since she was a child. The guards were not going to leave their seat, and they were stuck there for a while. It was like looking at a stone statue.

Lucai turned away and approached Beher. Beher blinked, unable to see his face clearly in the shadow.

But he was too close. Normally she would think he would kiss her, but this was enemy territory.

As she thought. 'No way he would kiss me in this situation,' she heard his voice more somber than usual.

“First, let's lure some of the watchmen away. You can do it with your magic, right?”

It was then that Beher realized she was thinking nonsense. Her face grew hot. But there was no time for that. She sent an affirmative indication with a nod.

She raised her hands. Large droplets of water bloomed gently. She watered the torches and extinguished them.

Darkness came unexpectedly. A guard whispered in the background.

“Someone go and light the fire.”

“Phew, it's too much trouble, isn't it?”

“The captain will be back soon. We must guard it well.”

The competent captain seemed to have left his seat. It was just in time. Lucai thought so, too, and gave a signal by squeezing Beher's hand.

Then he let go of her hand. A few of the watchmen were approaching this way. With the torches blazing brightly, they would be able to see them well, but with just one small torch, it would have been impossible.

“Oh my God, shouldn't we move to a new home base? It's too much trouble to light it every time.”

The guards started to light the torches, muttering to each other. That was when it happened.

Kaya!

Ka!

Lucai and Beher simultaneously launched a counterattack. Lucai lightly pierced one of the watchmen's heart. Before the blood could wet the ground, Beher put water down the throat of the other watchman. The man was suffering because he couldn't breathe.

Ack, ack…Thud!

The watchman fell and missed the torch he was holding. All the lights went out.

“What's going on in there?”

A strange atmosphere prevailed, and the rest of the watchmen moved. Lucai and Beher did not miss the moment.

Beher lengthened the water and caught numerous people.

“Ah! What is this!”

Said a dumbfounded watchman, his mouth agape. But it was too late.

Lucai aimed at the flanks of anyone who jumped toward him, except for the captured men.

Cha!

Blood splattered and sprayed his cheek. A long streak of blood soaked his clothes. Lucai struck back, ending the guy's life.

Beher looked down calmly at the cooling corpse. She didn't feel sorry for them. Lucy was caught in their hands. And she didn't want to imagine how vicious they had been.

Beher knocked the rest of them unconscious, except for one. There was no need to deal with those who had already lost their speculation.

“Give me the keys to the prison.”

The man with the shaggy beard looked at Beher in horror.

“No, you can't do that!”

“You're still not sure, are you?”

Beher's voice echoed inside the cave.

Lucai, standing behind Beher, pointed a bloody blade at his neck.

“What's the matter?”

“Give me the keys. They must belong to the people we abducted today.”

Lucai looked like a lion coming out of hell. His dark hair and deadly red eyes added to the atmosphere.

A big vein on the back of his hand. The man looked at him warily and tried to take out the keys.

But Lucai would not let him be.

“Anyway, if you try it, I'll cut it off.”

The man gulped down his spit. Then a thin cut formed on his neck and blood leaked out.

The man shuddered in horror and handed him the keys from his pocket.

The man's eyes filled with fear. It was pathetic that he was so afraid like that, but still looking for a way to rebel.

Beher held out her hand and grasped the keys. But he pulled the key towards him with more force.

Her red hair fluttered in a momentary shake.Beher's body leaned toward him. She whispered low.

“……You think I'm funny.”

Beher raised her leg high and hit him in the face. Quite heavy boots, the power was great. A nosebleed came out from under the boots. The man lost consciousness with his head turned.

Beher picked up the keys that had fallen.

“I think Lucy's inside.”

Lucai couldn't help but admire the way she fought back with confidence. It was as natural as if she had always been in such an environment. He felt his heart tingle.

Lucai wanted to know her deepest inner self. He felt strange looking at the confident leading back.

He didn't understand why he thought about her past in this situation. But he admitted one thing.

'…Yes, I have to admit that I'm obsessed with her. But that's all. I'm just keeping her around because I paid for her.'

Thanks to the hurried footsteps, the prison was in sight. Beher's face brightened.

“Lucy!”

They had to get Lucy out of there quickly before the chase came. After wandering around for a while, Beher was able to spot Lucy.

“Lucy!”

She was still unconscious.

Beher hurriedly opened the iron window. The people who had been watching inside the prison became agitated.

“We were caught too. Please help us get out of here together. Please.”

Beher stopped and looked at them. Their eyes were dry, as if they had lost hope. Their bony bodies were evident that they had been eating properly.

It was horrifying to think that Lucy would become like that. Beher threw them the keys. If they were lucky, they would live.

There were a lot of noises and movements. The prison doors were opened and people began to jump out, cheering. There was no time. Soon, soldiers would gather here.

It was one of her father's most cherished places, so there might be a black wizard here. No one was immediately competent and armed, but they would come soon.

“Lucy!”

Beher slapped Lucy on the cheek to wake her up.

“Please wake up.”

Lucy's eyelids trembled. Then she met Beher's blue eyes.
