The Story Is Not Over Yet Chapter 132

Chapter 132

Livia screamed loudly and breathed heavily. Zagnac looked stunned as if he had been hit hard on his head. As he couldn't think of anything to refute because everything she said was true, he raised a trembling hand and covered his mouth.

“…I'm not asking you to love me. I'm not asking you to have feelings for me. I am just—”

“…I'm just asking you to free me by marrying me.”

Livia's voice died down towards the end, and she eventually sobbed. As she covered her face with her hands and wept loudly, it was the first time she was crying out loud in front of someone other than Daran.

“The more you do, the more an ugly heart grows inside me…”

She cried and uttered softly. Of course, she heard nothing from Zagnac, who was still dumbfounded and thought of Azela in his head.

“Duke Ferial, the more you do that, the more I hate Miss Vellista.”

“Even though it's not her fault, I keep blaming her for my hurt. Please… Don't make me hate Miss Vellista anymore.”

She wiped the tears from the back of her hand.

Obviously, this was not Zagnac's fault either. It was just her own selfishness that she wanted to put the blame on others. Eventually, Livia lowered her head and picked up the dress that had fallen to the ground, and opened the parlor door.

“Prin, Princess.”

Azela, who was standing in front of the parlor, was startled by the door that suddenly opened and looked at Livia with wide eyes.

Looking back and forth between the weeping Livia and the dazed Zagnac, she glanced at the dress in her hand. And with a trembling gaze, she slowly scanned the outerwear of the jacket that Livia was wearing.

“Miss Vellista.”

“Yes, yes.”

“I'm not trying to take that person away from you. I'm not asking for that person.”

“I've said it many times, but I'm using that person to give me my freedom.”

Leaving incomprehensible words, Livia passed her and left the mansion. On the other hand, Azela, who was looking at the Princess' disappearing back, gently put her hand on Zagnac's shoulder, which was still standing in the parlor with a dazed face.

“…What's the matter? Why is the Princess wearing your robe while taking off her dress? Why is she crying? What happened?”

Still, there was no answer to Azela's question. The hand that covered Zagnac's mouth was trembling strangely, and his face was red.

“Zagnac…?”

As she called his name, his gaze turned to her.

The purple eyes were shaking. Gazing at her, his face soon grew more and more red like a tomato.

Late at night, Zagnac, who sat on the window sill of Azela's bedroom, flicked his fingers in a rhythm. Tap-tap, the sound of the tapping on the window frame spread pleasantly throughout the quiet bedroom.

He gazed at Azela with a complicated face, watching her, who was soundly asleep. Even though she had been recognizing people's signs so quickly, he couldn't believe she was sleeping soundly when he came in and out like this.

Zagnac smiled.

“No.”

The smiling Zagnac got startled and raised his hand to cover his mouth.

Tormented, he kept thinking of the words that Livia had said to him. He thought it was because she was a simple contractor… but Azela, the butler Baharf, and now even Livia. Everyone who saw him told him that he liked Azela.

He ruffled his confused head.

'Really?'

He also thought that his reluctance to eat her was simply due to his taste for the best sweetness.

Zagnac shook his head in confusion and slipped through Azela's window frame. The night when all humans were asleep, and the lights were off was his world. Even the soft moonlight is on his side. He seemed relaxed as he moved through the darkness, like riding the wind.

“Lane.”

Zagnac, who had been wandering through the darkness for a long time, saw Lane and came down lightly to the ground. Standing with a newly purchased cane, Lane was unconcerned as she watched him come down from the sky.

“The contractor's soul…”

As she lifted the cane in her hand and looked at him, she let out a mocking laugh and lowered his cane violently until it made a thud.

“You haven't eaten her yet.”

“I have a question for you.”

“As much as you want.”

Zagnac flapped his lips at Lane's bold voice as though he didn't know how to convey it. He thought it would be more accurate to listen to the same devil than to hear from a hundred humans. However, his lips could not open.

Had she ever loved a contractor? It was absolutely impossible for Lane, who only looked at the soul and made contracts with other races.

Maybe, as soon as she heard it, she would scoff.

“…Ha, nothing.”

Eventually, instead of uttering the words, he let out a sigh and shook his head with an annoyed gesture though Lane was experienced.

After examining Zagnac's expression, she grinned.

“I…”

And briefly, she opened her mouth. Zagnac slowly raised his head and looked at her. Lane uttered, striking him proudly in the chest with her clenched fist.

“I've never had any other feelings for a contractor.”

“Isn't that what you meant to ask?”

Seeing her elated expression, he didn't want to admit it, but it was true. Zagnac frowned and nodded slowly.

After he nodded, he raised his palm to cover his face.

“…That's right.”

Zagnac's hushed voice spread through the gaps between his fingers. Even though he couldn't see what Lane's expression was like because his face was covered, he could infer from the sound of her laughter.

She was laughing hard at him, holding her stomach. Her laughter continued in the dark alley, where the stillness subsided for a long time.

Then, for a moment, the laughter stopped.

“Don't.”

The voice was firm.

Her voice was so determined that he couldn't even believe he had been laughing just the second before, and Zagnac slipped down the palm of his hand that covered his face. Even without the sound of her footsteps, Lane was suddenly approaching him.

She tugged at his collar and spoke again forcefully.

“Don't feel anything about it.”

“There is nothing good about a devil being assimilated into a human. You just need to 'feed.' It's your dessert and your entertainment for a while. Leave it that way.”

He unknowingly frowned at her words, and he knew at that moment.

It meant that the feelings he felt were not simply what he should have felt for a contractor… the moment Zagnac heard Lane's words, he thought that he didn't want to. He was taken aback by Lane simply calling her a feed and his dessert.

It was a feeling he had never felt for any other contractor.

“…It's serious.”

Zagnac murmured softly and let out a sigh.

…Since when?

Since when did this happen? He thought hard about it, yet he couldn't figure out when. Apparently, it wasn't the case when he first signed the contract.

When he went looking for her? When he handed the business over to her? When he comforted her when she cried? When he bought her bread? When he rescued her from captivity? When he gave her the choice…?

Zagnac shook his head at the thought of Azela, which grew thicker as he recalled the memories.

“Eat her before it gets any deeper.”

“…I wish I could.”

“It's a problem that will disappear if you eat her.”

“If that's the case, you shouldn't have given me an answer when I asked.”

Lane shut her mouth with a regretful look at his objection. Zagnac laughed when he saw her muttering, 'I guess so.' After all, though he didn't know when it started, this feeling he felt was, to borrow human words, 'love.'

He sighed as he carved the word into his heart again.

“…If you don't eat her, I will eat her.”

“Are you going to forcefully break my contract and get punished? Do you know that if you do such a thing, you will be hated by God and end up locked in darkness for thousands of years?”

“Yes. Still, it's better than seeing the same species die out.”

Lane was adamant. As she gripped Zagnac's collar, who smiled faintly as if it would soon disappear, she met his eyes.

“You are the devil, not human. Don't forget that.”

“Yes, I know that all too well.”
