The Magic Thief Volume 1 Chapter 4 part1

The Magic Thief - v1c4p1

Obviously, it was hopeless to get back the only memento his mother left to him. First he didn't know where the killer lived, and even if he did, he was still unsure if he could take the necklace from that ruthless killer.

As a matter of fact, after Raboy found the killer named Keller lived in the other corner of the house, the second question came to trouble him.

Keller was gloomy and isolated. Although they lived in the same house, Raboy could only occasionally see him. Keller rarely walked out of the room. Even at dinner time, he never went down to the living room to have dinner with the boss and Eckert. His everyday meals were brought into his room by the steward.

Raboy had noticed no one in the house was willing to stay with Keller. It wasn't unreasonable for Eckert to choose a room far away from Keller. In fact, most of them lived in the west wing, away from Keller.

Keller was an extremely dangerous person, even for these thieves.

Raboy's mind wavered between his mother's belongings and the dangerous assassin.

Love finally triumphed over fear. When Raboy finally stood at the door of Keller's room, he didn't even know where he'd got the nerve.

He knocked lightly on the door. It was the courtesy Raboy had always known, which was never need to be taught.

"Open the door and come in yourself," A hoarse voice came from the room.

It sounded like a dying wolf, gasping and howling in a low, hoarse voice that had stimulated Raboy's eardrums.

The door was opened.

It was quite heavy. The room was dark, and the curtains were drawn together, allowing only a little bit of sunlight to penetrate.

A bed, a chair, a table, that were all Raboy could see.

"What do you want?" The hoarse voice came from his back.

Raboy was startled and turned back.

Only a pair of beast-like eyes were shining in the dark.

Raboy had never seen anyone with such green eyes like a wolf.

The killer in front of him was as definitely dangerous as a demon.

Raboy had made a plan on how to deal with this merciless killer when he decided to face Keller. However, when the dark green sparkling eyes came close to him, Raboy's mind suddenly went blank.

"You knocked at my door, just to waste my time, don't you?" The man was clearly impatient.

"It should be sword arts and horse arts training time. However, my class has ended. Eckert thinks I should learn more advanced techniques. You are a master of it …" Raboy just spoke out a perfect lie even without thinking about it.

He would not dare to mention to get back the necklace, when facing such a evil killer.

"Eckert tells you to learn killing from me?" Keller was obviously confused. Although Mr. Hyde had told him that Eckert was scheming an unprecedented plan, he was not quite sure about what the plan was.

"You stay here. I'll go ask Mr. Hyde what happened." Keller said.

"Well, if you don't have time, I can practice for myself." Raboy replied in a rush. He didn't want to screw it up.

"Just stay here until I come back. Don't leave, understand?" The husky voice was so definite that there was no room for negotiation.

Then Keller walked out of the room and closed the door.

Standing in the dark room, Raboy felt anxious and filled with regret.

Perhaps taking the necklace from a devilish killer was not a task he could fulfil.

Perhaps he should never have entered this room.

Raboy could even believe that the lie would be carved as his epitaph on his own tombstone, and added that a stupid man had made such a stupid lie in front of a killer so that ended his foolish life.

Raboy prayed to himself: God bless myself.

As long as he could get forgiveness from that devilish killer, he would rather accept any punishment, even like the month he had been lying in bed.

Raboy knelt there, praying devoutly, hoping to be saved by the mercy of God.

In the lounge, Mr. Hyde bowed his head and was thinking.

Eckert sat down with him, while Keller stood in the dark corner.

This room was the place where Mr. Hyde spent most of his time. The layout was completely different from that of the study.

The lounge was filled with precious art works from all over the world.

On the wall hung paintings of different regions and various styles.

Among them were the magnificent paintings featuring the ancient mythology from Siba, and the exquisite portraits from Eley, and the mountains & forests paintings from Delizy, and the idyllic paintings from the island of Inge, and the rare local paintings from eastern nations. The most expensive ones of all were undoubtedly those coming from distant eastern land. These amazing masterpieces were painted with totally different aesthetic ideas and painting techniques. Those far east artists used dark or light black pigments and simple lines to draw beautiful pictures. Most of the pictures featured sceneries, or a single flower, or animals, beasts, fishes and shrimps, and very few figures and portraits.

There were several chairs laying in a circle in the center of the room. The chairs were weaved of solid, lightweight rattan. On the chairs were thick layers of precious furs, including the lion fur and lynx fur from Siba, the bearskin, fox fur, leopard fur from Delizy, the foxskin, the leopard skin, the mink, rhinoceros hide, and crocodile skin from Eley.

The thick fur made the chairs soft and warm.

Mr. Hyde and Eckert were evidently quite enjoying it. A screen of ivory stood between the door and the lounge. The feathers of various birds adorned everywhere. Mr. Hyde must like peacocks. The peacock's bright green color has become the main color here.

At the corner of the room placed a furnace made of bronze. He didn't know what incense was burning, only to see the whole room was wisped with green smoke and filled with a refreshing fragrance.

"That kid want to be your disciple?" Mr. Hyde asked after a moment's silence.

"He said it was Eckert's order." Keller said.

"You did a good job." Mr. Hyde smiled at Eckert.

"Yeah, a stupid but very good lie, but I haven't given him a lesson in tricks." Eckert said with smile. "Should he pay his dues? Let him remember a real trick must be carefully planned and cautiously speculated, don't we?"

Hearing Eckert's advice, Mr. Hyde fell into deep thought again. After a moment, he looked up and said, "You did mention about the series of accidents at Thethnburg, didn't you? And you also suggested to let Keller assist you. Alright, Keller, you take that disciple and teach him the skill of using weapons and avoiding danger. You'll have a month and let the young friend become a minimum hunter. I think it will be very beneficial for our plan. "

"What can I teach him in just one month?" Keller absolutely had no confidence about it.

"Let him distinguish what can be eaten, what is poisoned, and teach him how to figure out and keep away from danger, teach him the benefits of standing in the shadows, teach him how to escape from a desperate situation, and teach him one or two techniques to defend himself. It's impossible to be under your protection all the time. At least he needs the abilities to face two thugs in the street alone, and can quickly finish them off. "

"I'll try my best." Keller nodded.

"Eckert, how much of your little friend's studies have been completed?" said Mr. Hyde.

"Almost done, except Siberian (Siba language). He needs a little more practice about it. He can speak it well in everyday life, but not good enough for certain occasions." "Apart from that, there's no problem with other manners."

"Very good, should I order Faith to organize the trial? Let the little friend show what he's learned. " said Mr. Hyde.

"Fine." Eckert said positively.

"Well then, let's make it one month later. You and Faith will get ready in this month, and the kid will be given to Kelller and me. I've nearly forgotten Siberian, for haven't spoke it since long time ago. Eckert, give me a Siberian dictionary, won't you?" said Mr. Hyde.

Eckert said yes, and retreated with Keller.

When Keller returned to his room, he saw Raboy kneeling on the ground. His pale face and trembling body made the ruthless killer know what he was thinking.

"Get up. Mr. Hyde said, since you want to learn more advanced fighting techniques, you will follow me from this day. The "actor" happened to be too occupied to teach you. From now on, you will live here, and I will also give you a schedule. You'll have one month to adapt to it."

"It starts at three in the morning. Don't be surprised. The things I will teach you aren't as easy as those Eckert taught. Because not only will you imprint everything in your mind, but also remember it with your body." Keller's sharp eyes could see everything clearly even in the darkness. He stared at Raboy's pale face and panic eyes, saying, "get up at three, and you will learn not to disturb anyone when walk out of the house. Everyone in this house is wary, except you. You will get to learn it first."
