Chapter 156: The Wounded Beast

The little thing jumped onto the silver beast, and turned to Qi Ying with a very humanized pitiable expression.

Qi Ying finally understood what was happening.

That silver beast was most likely the little thing’s mother or father.

It had somehow been severely wounded, and was on the brink of death.

The little thing must have fed him that many fruits in the hope that he would be able to attend to and cure the silver beast.

“You’re a really good child… Let me have a look…”

Qi Ying squatted down and patted the little thing on the head, upon which the latter moved away to allow him to operate on the beast.

Seeing as the little thing had helped him, he was going to try his best to return the favor!

Qi Ying turned to the silver beast, to discover that it was in an extremely feeble and unconscious state. It appeared that it had lost a lot of blood, and not only was the wound on its neck very deep, the green light emanating from within was most likely some kind of toxin, which was severely eroding its internal organs.

Qi Ying had done a lot of hunting in the past, so he basically qualified as half a veterinarian. At the very least, he could diagnose the symptoms of all of the beasts back on the Nameless Mountain. Thus, he laid his right hand on one of the beast’s forelegs, so he could assess its pulse.

Moments later.

After a short while, Qi Ying’s expression stirred slightly.

As he had expected, the silver beast’s wounds weren’t actually life-threatening. However, the green toxins in its body were extremely lethal, and were constantly repressing its recovery ability. At the same time, the poison was paralyzing its organs and tissues, as well as leeching away its energy.

If it were left untreated, it wouldn’t be long before it died.

If he wanted to save it, he would have to clear out the toxins within its body!

“Heh.”

A smile appeared on Qi Ying’s face.

He would have had some trouble if it were some other type of ailment, but a poison-induced condition was far too easy for him to cure.

Qi Ying leaned down and pressed his mouth against the silver beast’s wound, upon which a putrid scent invaded his nostrils. The wound was clearly fresh, but the effects of the toxins made it smell like rotting flesh. Qi Ying furrowed his brows and began to suck out the toxins in the beast’s bloodstream.

Gulp! Gulp!

Thankfully, the silver beast’s blood was quite powerful, and it managed to restrict the infection to an isolated part of its body. Otherwise, its entire body would have already rotten away. The toxins were mainly built up near its spine, thereby paralyzing it from the neck down, which was why it had been completely immobilized and could only lie on the ground.

As Qi Ying sucked out the poison, all of it began to enter his own body.

If someone else were in his shoes, they would have been poisoned as soon as their toxins made contact with their tongue. However, after flowing into Qi Ying’s body, the toxins were immediately drawn to his meridians, where his grey bloodline then took effect, transforming the poison into bursts of pure energy.

The energy that was flowing through his body was scorching hot, which indicated that the poison was indeed very powerful.

Qi Ying estimated that it had to be many times more powerful than even the Ice Fire Ant Queen’s poison, and it would be lethal even to Sixth or Seventh Spirit Martial Stage warriors!

After a short while.

“Phew…”

Qi Ying lifted his head, and wiped away the blood from around his mouth.

“Scree scree!”

The little thing scurried over and inspected the silver beast’s wound, upon which it began to jump for joy. It then rushed over to the beast’s ear and cried urgently, as if it were trying to rouse its unconscious parent.

“Don’t worry, everything will be fine.” Qi Ying looked at the little thing with a sympathetic expression.

The little thing turned and sprawled onto the icy ground before Qi Ying, as if it were expressing its gratitude.

“Haha! There’s no need to thank me!”

Qi Ying didn’t think that he had done much. He had benefited greatly from the little thing, so it was only right for him to help it. Besides, there was no harm done to his own body during the treatment. On the contrary, the green toxins contained extremely high amounts of energy, which had helped him to slightly progress in his cultivation base.

He wondered what kind of poison the silver beast had been afflicted by.

The wound on its body was very uniform, so it didn’t appear to have been inflicted by another beast. Instead, it appeared to be a sword wound, and the toxins presumably came from the sword.

Furthermore, it was wounded quite a while ago, and it only managed to repress the poison through the power of its bloodline, as well as the extremely low temperatures in the cave. Qi Ying estimated that the wound was at least four to six hours old.

Which meant that…

There were other people on the mountain aside from Qin Mu, Qi Shun, Qin Wen, Qin Wu, and himself!

‘Could it be another competitor searching for the dragon vein? Yan Beigui? Zhao Danyang? Or perhaps Chu Bixue?’

Qi Ying became even firmer in his conviction that the dragon vein was situated on the mountain.

With that in mind, Qi Ying stood up and turned to leave.

There weren’t any treasures in the cave aside from that tree, but he wouldn’t be able to take anything from it. As such, there was nothing for him there, and it was time for him to leave and continue his search for the dragon vein.

“Scree scree!”

The little thing rushed over and stood in front of Qi Ying, as if it were trying to foil his departure.

“Everything’s fine now; your parent will wake up soon!” Qi Ying patted the little thing and consoled in a soothing voice, “I have to go now. I hope you have a good life!”

Qi Ying strode away after that.

However, the little thing scurried after him again before jumping onto his shoulder. It then began to nibble on Qi Ying’s ear. “Scree scree!”

“Hey! What do you want? Do you still need something from me?”

Qi Ying’s ear was a little sore, but he didn’t get mad about it.

The little thing was very intelligent, so it had to have its reasons for trying to stop him.

With that in mind, he cupped it in his hands again, only for it to immediately jump down onto the ground. It rushed over to the silver beast, before driving its head into its body over and over again.

“Grrr…”

The silver beast seemed to be close to regaining consciousness, and it began to snarl instinctively.

“Er… Alright then, those fruits you gave me were really useful, so I’ll help you out a bit more!”

Qi Ying pulled out an Energy Blast Pill and fed it to the silver beast.

The latter was clearly a Dark Tier beast, so the Energy Blast Pill wouldn’t have a significant effect, but it was better than nothing.

In any case, Qi Ying wasn’t willing to feed it anything that was more valuable than that.

Moments later.

“Roar… Huff…”

The silver beast snarled under its breath as it rose shakily to its feet, before turning to Qi Ying with a complex expression.

“Scree scree!”

The little thing was jumping for joy.

“Looks like you’re all better now.”

Qi Ying smiled.

The silver beast nuzzled the little thing with its head, before taking a few feeble steps to arrive in front of Qi Ying. It then prodded Qi Ying’s knee with its nose before pointing outside with one of its forelegs, as if to say, “Come with me.”

Qi Ying was naturally quite surprised. “Both of you are so intelligent… Alright, I’ll go with you then!”
