Chapter 68: Going Home.

Edited by: Mochiusagi

"You're not staying, Brother Shen?"

An eerie voice sounded behind him, instantly covering Shen Changqing's body in cold sweat.

Without any hesitation, he directly broke the courtyard door with a palm strike and rushed out.

Shen Changqing did not look back and continued dashing away.

It was only after running for a long time, did he finally stop.

When he looked back, the courtyard had long been left behind.

At this moment, Shen Changqing's heartbeat has also gradually calmed down.

"What the hell is that thing!?"

Shen Changqing was now sure that there's something wrong with Mo Zijin.

The reason was that he clearly watched the other party enter the room, but as he was about to leave, he suddenly felt the latter appear behind him.

At Shen Changqing's level, any movement within ten feet from him couldn't escape his senses.

But...

He didn't notice Mo Zijin's footsteps at all.

If the other side did not speak, Shen Changqing wouldn't have known that there was a person standing behind him.

"If he is a demon or monster, how come he doesn't have an Evil Aura? From the beginning to the end, he also did not make a move on me--"

After his initial shock, he calmed down.

Should he go back and take a look?

This thought emerged in Shen Changqing's mind.

He hadn't looked at the specifics of the situation, as he hastily fled.

"I just left directly, and Mo Zijin also did not stop me. Perhaps he simply did not want to stop me, or he couldn't. If it's the latter, as long as I go back with enough caution, I believe there should be no problem."

After estimating the risk of going back, Shen Changqing retraced his path and quietly turned back.

It was dark and only the light in the courtyard illuminated the surroundings.

When Shen Changqing came to the courtyard that was not too far away, he saw the courtyard door was still open. Mo Zijin was standing there, calmly looking at him.

At first glance, Shen Changqing did not find anything wrong, but when his line of sight moved to the courtyard door, his pupils suddenly contracted.

The whole thing was still intact!

He clearly remembered that he had broken through the door to get out.

The courtyard door should have shattered.

"Rushing in the night is inconvenient, Brother Shen. Why not rest here in the meantime?"

Mo Zijin opened his mouth. The smile on his face was mild, but in Shen Changqing's eyes, it became strange and frightening.

"What the hell are you?"

"What do you mean by that, Brother Shen?" Mo Zijin looked puzzled and confused.

Immediately afterwards, he beckoned.

"Come back in quickly, it's going to rain again soon."

"---"

Shen Changqing looked at the latter's face, and the doubts in his heart intensified.

He also found some more problems.

That was, Mo Zijin from beginning to end, only stood at the courtyard door and did not come out.

'Could it be that he cannot leave the courtyard?' Shen Changqing secretly thought.

But while Mo Zijin did not emit even the slightest bit of Evil Aura, he also did not look like a powerful demon or monster.

It was just that there was certainly something wrong with the other party, there was no doubt about it.

After giving Mo Zijin a deep look, Shen Changqing decided to temporarily retreat.

After all, what was standing in front of him couldn't be aptly called a person, but rather an unknown.

With his knowledge, there was no way to understand the situation for the time being.

However, the Demon Suppression Division might have a record of it.

'It seems that I have to go back to the Demon Suppression Division and check it out.'

Making his decision, Shen Changqing withdrew.

The things in the courtyard were too strange, and he did not want to have too much conflict with it before he was sure of the depth of the other party.

Many Slayers died over the ages. Some died while doing their missions, while some simply died from their own actions.

There was obviously a lesson to take from the latter.

Shen Changqing felt that it was most important to survive first.

Seeing the other side's departure, Mo Zijin's face remained calm, as he muttered some words.

When Shen Changqing's figure disappeared completely, Mo Zijin closed his mouth and went back inside.

The courtyard door then quietly closed.

•×•×•×•

Outside.

The horse tied under the tree was still there.

But Shen Changqing did not intend to immediately leave. Now that the rain had stopped, he came to a clearing and found a not quite flat stone.

He then used his True Qi to rid the water on the stone.

He jumped up and barely found a comfortable position.

Sitting on his knees, he closed his eyes and entered a state of recuperation.

The wilderness was not safe, and if he really ventured deep into it, he would inevitably encounter trouble.

The main problem was that the [Heavenly Martial True Qi] had reached an unprecedented Level 13, and there were no subsequent Cultivation methods, so Cultivation was naturally impossible.

The night passed quickly.

The moment the sun rose, Shen Changqing's abdomen fiercely sucked the wisp of purple qi.

His True Qi seemed to have grown by a point, but other than that, nothing had changed.

Leaping down to the ground, he came to his horse, untied the reins from the tree and rode it towards the Capital.

10 days later, Shen Changqing finally saw the walls of the Capital. Unfortunately, the horse he bought in Lin'an City had collapsed along the way.

Luckily, he was not far from the Capital when that happened. So even without a horse, it did not take him a long time.

Compared to Lin'an City, the walls of the Capital were higher. There were soldiers patrolling day and night, as well as guards stationed at the city gates. Everyone who enters the city will also need to show a City Pass.

Visit readel.me for extra chapters.

The so-called City Pass, in Shen Changqing's understanding, was similar to an ID in his previous life.

"Stop, show your City Pass!"

When it was Shen Changqing's turn to enter the city, he was directly intercepted by a soldier.

He also took out his identity token from the Demon Suppression Division.

When the soldier took a look, his face changed, and his originally indifferent tone became warm.

"So it's my Lord of the Demon Suppression Division, I'm sorry, please come in."

"En."

Shen Changqing nodded, put his identity token back into his pocket, and walked in.

Once he entered the city, noise sounded into his ears.

Looking around, one could see people coming and going everywhere.

The level of bustle was not comparable to other places.

Shen Changqing stopped to take a look for a couple of minutes, before heading to the Demon Suppression Division.

The Capital was divided into the outer city and the inner city.

The outer city was for the people to live in, and was the most bustling place in the entire Capital. As for the inner city, only those dignitaries, and ministers of the court were qualified to stay in the inner city.

For ordinary people, not to mention living in the inner city, they couldn't even enter.

Since this was the case, the inner city was empty, unlike the bustle of the outer city.

The Demon Suppression Division was an important institution of the Great Qin, and was also in the inner city.

The reason for this was that there was an important barrier separating the outer city from the inner city.

The purpose of the barrier was to prevent people with bad intentions from taking advantage of the opportunity to infiltrate the territory.

After Shen Changqing showed his identity token as a Slayer, he entered the inner city without any obstruction.

For the people of the Great Qin, they could offend anyone, but not the Demon Suppression Division.

This was the consensus.

Anyone who offended the Demon Suppression Division would not have a good end. It doesn't matter how powerful one was, as long as they were not the current Emperor.

For a long time, the name of the Demon Suppression Division was deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.

"The organization's reputation is as strong as ever. If this was still the former Imperial Dynasty, it would have been suppressed. But with the current Great Qin, not only is the Demon Suppression Division not the slightest bit suppressed, it is also strongly supported by the Imperial Family."

"There's also no relations with the demons that go unpunished."

Walking in the inner city, Shen Changqing heard some news.

Being a Slayer came with great merit and status.

Also, the Demon Suppression Division was not suppressed by the Imperial Family because of the rampant demons and monsters.

After all, if the Demon Suppression Division was suppressed, who would fight against the demons and monsters?

Although it was said that the Great Qin had many people that could fight against the demons and monsters, the vast majority of them were from the Demon Suppression Division.

If the Demon Suppression Division was gone, most of the territory of the Great Qin would be reduced to the paradise of the demons and monsters.

"However--"

"Even if the current Emperor is at ease with the Demon Suppression Division taking care of the demons, he shouldn't be unprepared if things go south."

Shen Changqing did not know much about these things. He was only a newly promoted Yellow Rank Official Slayer and was not qualified to contact high level information.

But although just because one has not eaten pork, doesn't necessarily mean they hadn't seen a pig.

There were still some things that Shen Changqing was well aware of.

The space in the inner city was not small and it took Shen Changqing two quarters of an hour to arrive at the Demon Suppression Division.

Showing his identity token, he stepped inside without any hindrance.

In an instant, the familiar smell of blood assaulted his senses. Unlike the comfort outside, the Demon Suppression Division was always filled with this kind of atmosphere.

When he first came to this world, Shen Changqing indeed felt strongly uncomfortable with such an atmosphere but over time, he got used to it. Now, it actually puts him at ease.

"Let's go home!"

Shen Changqing sighed.

For others, the Demon Suppression Division was like a tiger's den, but for Shen Changqing, it was his home.

Shen Changqing did not go immediately to report to Jiang Fu, and instead returned to the small courtyard where he lived.

Opening the courtyard door, everything had not changed.

It's just that a moldy smell and some dust filled the place.

Seeing this, Shen Changqing used his True Qi to clean it out.
