Star Wanderer Chapter 9: Out on a Limb(1)

Slowly and steadily, Giant Whale reduced its speed from 1000km high to 200km. The beautiful blue planet earth was enlarged before the spaceship.

Alpha One was already hovering over the mountains.

The cruise ships were protecting it from different positions.

As the sun set below the horizon, the splendid Himalayan peaks were shining with its golden light. At the mountainside, there was a flat ground built by human. A big circle of signal lights were sparkling to guide Giant Whale to land.

When Giant Whale was connected with the landing system, it automatically glided down and halted in the air 3km above the circle, and then descended slowly.

As the spaceship passed down the peaks, the guiding lights on the landing field became a little dazzling. It was close enough to see the Institute which was built into the wall and the pillars that supported the classic, princely building, and also Chiwheuve’s janissaries, an army of elite soldiers waiting on the landing field. The spaceship shivered a little and landed in the circle. 

At the meeting room which was covered secretly by magnetic field deep inside the Institute, Sannahliva was reporting the whole process to Chiwheuve and Phushouching.

Chiwheuve went silent afterwards and looked at her the top level academician with her bright eyes, “You had a big emotional reaction when you mentioned your conversation with Ark Fang. Is there anything you don’t want to say? ”

Sannahliva was surprised and shook her head, “I had nothing to hide. There are just some funny thoughts I haven’t said.”

“There are no thoughts that are funny.” Phushouching wasn’t happy.

Sannahliva sighed in his her heart because she couldn’t understand her own feelings. Why would keep a secret for him? Why? Because she wanted him to slip away? Chiwheuve said gently to her, “Ark One is vital. Please don’t put your personal feelings into it. ” Sannahliva nodded and said after making up her mind, “When he declined my proposal thatwe would set him free if he cooperates, I had a feeling that he is capable of getting away at any time.”

Chiwheuve and Phushouching were shocked and looked at each other.

Chiwheuve said to Sannahliva, “You have done a wonderful job. You are definitely one of our top academicians. I will advise the Congress to promote you as the Vice president of the Institute.” Then she continued with a serious face, “Starting from now, you are going to have a 3-month vacation. I suggest you spend your vacation on the Iridescent Cloud Galaxy. You can relax there because the weather and beach there are the best. ”

“Am I not a part of Ark research program? He…”Sannahliva was upset.

Phushouching cut her off, “You have feelings for him. From now on, you are out of this. You have to take your personal spaceship to Iridescent Cloud Galaxy before tomorrow noon. This is an order. ”

“I am sorry! I will leave in the early morning. ” Sannahliva was sad and couldn’t help thinking of Ark and his come-hither eyes.

Ark was carried into the classified Institute in Himalaya base as he was lying in the life-sustaining cocoon, and finally into a big room with metal walls. The delivery men left the room, leaving him alone in this giant secret chamber. But he knew that people were watching and observing him from outside.

He was scared of some weapons they had. It was very hard for him to escape from their high-speed and powerful weapons in this room. At least for now, he had no chance to get out at all. He extended his spirit throughout the entire Institute at ultrlight speed.

Like he did on the Giant Whale, his spirit entered the top-secret archive of the Institute. He read all kinds of materials with the language he leant from the language machine, including the entire history before and after the foundation of the Federation, its political structure, social conventions, sexual behaviours, technology development and numerous kinds of theories and materials. Normal people couldn’t have learnt all knowledge even if they spent thousands of years, but he managed to analyse, read and memorize all of them in his brain like instantly.

In order to escape, he had to push his limit like he did when Flamingo was about to explode. Multiple security facilities were equipped to protect these materials but still not enough to stop his spirit, like no fire could have stopped him on Flamingo.

When a power outran the maximum light speed in the positive space, the power would become unstoppable, unless in a place protected by magnetic field. His spirit was that powerful.

All of sudden, walls raised and hundreds of armed soldiers flocked in. Some climbed to the roof to hold a gun at him. As the cocoon cover was removed, he was sent to a cage that was even more difficult to escape from. 

In another secret chamber, Phushouching looked tired but still analysed the readings of the lying Ark from the big screen, “Dr. Zeck’s report was correct. Please take a look.”

On the screen, it displayed scan readings of Ark’s examination including his body structure, skin, nerves and waves of his brain, and finally his life magnet chart 100 times dynamic than normal human beings.

Phushouching pushed a button of the remote in her hand. Ark showed up in a 3-layer transparent shell, eyes closed, still like a fossil.

“We’ve come to a conclusion after 30 class-one scholars and 200 class-two scholars have observed and studied for 3 hours. He was imitating Sannahliva’s physical condition, and trying to fool all our machines through making a tiny change.” Phushouching said.

Chiwheuve was shocked. What kind of human being he was? How could he do things that were beyond their imagination?

Phushouching was a little excited, “We also have an evidence to support my conclusion. We tested his reactions with 47 different kinds of germs and a thousand kinds of medicine, and it turned out all were negative. ”

“It is because he couldn’t predict the drug reactions after these germs and medicine were put into his body. So he couldn’t simulate any.” Chiwheuve nodded.

“Exactly. His intelligence and power were remarkable and unpredictable. But he still has his weakness. ” Phushouching said.

“What is it?” Chiwheuve asked. Phushouching pressed the button again and displayed his life sign scan on the screen and said, “The optical analysis indicated that his power came from Flamingo Sun, or any other sun.”

“Oh my god! My dear president! Is this what we have been looking for all these years? The power that can enable humans to absorb energy from the any planet and turn it into our own?! If we can get access to this secret, we humans will be the most powerful creature in the universe. Our dream to conquer the universe will become true, let alone fight against the Dark Hellers. ” Chiwheuve also became excited.

Phushouching was also excited and put her arms around her shoulders, “My dear president, now you have to make a decision that matters the survival of the Federation. We will control his nerves and destroy his power first, and then we will need a vivisection for study because anaesthetic doesn’t work on him, even laser can’t cut his skin. ”

With her face turning pale, Chiwheuve asked, “Are you saying that we have to use nervous centralis energy injector?”

Without adding any personal feeling to her science attitude, Phushouching said calmly, “This is the only way that we can inject the molecular dissociation energy which is anti-solar energy into his spine slowly, until his nerve was completely paralysed and when his secret got exposed to us.” She added, “There is no way he could be immune to it because the nerve cannon which was similar though less powerful could knock him out.”

Chiwheuve heaved a sign and then said “But he will be ruined afterwards.”

“There is nothing we could do. We sacrifice him alone to save billions of people of the Federation. Your Highness, you can talk to him now. ” Phushouching went on after making a pause, “We have connected the injector with the nerves of his spine and back of his head. With your order, we can proceed immediately. ”

“Are you coming with me?” Chiwheuve asked.

Phushouching looked strange and then sighed, “He is not very good-looking but he is extremely attractive to women. I couldn’t do any better than Sannahliva. And my will is not as strong as yours. I’d better stay away from him. Just keep in mind that he has a pair of come-hither eyes as Sannahliva said. ”

“Alright. I will go meet him alone. Please turn off all observation and sound systems because I don’t want anybody to know about our meeting or conversation.” Chiwheuve was startled for a moment and then said.

Now it was Phushouching’s turn to be startled.

Chiwheuvewore her calm, confident face again, touched her friend’s shoulder while smiling, said, “Don’t worry. Even if I was attempted by him, I have no power to uncover the 3-layer gravity shell that even my Alpha One cannot.”
