Flower Servant (16)

September 22, 2023 by Wyrd

  “Thank you,” Ning Su said.

“No,” the person immediately withdrew his hand upon seeing him stand firm, as if he was afraid of something.

Ning Su asked, “I’m Ning Su, and you?”

“Leng Chang.”

Ning Changfeng felt uneasy as he watched Ning Su still talking to someone, urging him impatiently, “Let’s go up quickly.”

“...” Ning Su replied, “Brother, calm down.”

“One night hasn’t yet passed by and you’re already like this,” Ning Changfeng said.

Ning Su glanced at Leng Chang again and went up with Ning Changfeng and Zhu Shuangshuang.

Upstairs was different from downstairs; every room had windows that faced the great hall directly.

After returning to his room, Ning Su didn’t lie on the waterbed but stood by the window, looking out.

Ning Changfeng was helpless.

After transplanting the sacred flower, the other flower attendants lay on the waterbed unconscious.

This one, on the other hand, seemed to be hiding and eating, not sleeping well.

Ning Changfeng didn’t know whether to be happy or worried.

He pulled a chair over for Ning Su. “Sit and watch.”

Doing strange things became less strange when done more often.

Ning Su thanked him and sat in the chair, looking out of the window.

As the night grew darker, it wasn’t yet midnight, but there were already reactions from the flower attendants.

One male flower attendant was curled up on the bed, trembling. The purple veins on his forehead were visibly swelling, becoming thicker and more pronounced.

He grabbed his chest in agony, opening his mouth to emit a hoarse scream.

He tore the black uniform on his chest open, and the rugged purple veins in his clavicle throbbed like a beating heart.

Ning Su held his own heartbeat, feeling the trembling of his veins gradually synchronize with his heart’s rhythm.

“Boom, boom, boom.”

“Ah!—”

The blood vessels suddenly swelled, rising two fingers high, thinning the layer of skin above them, resembling a balloon on the verge of bursting.

The expanding blood vessels gradually spread outward, even the once rigid vessels now looked thin, showing signs of a vine-like growth, getting thicker and longer.

Ning Changfeng let out a hiss.

Ning Su’s blood vessels had been darkened for many years, and witnessing this scene made him feel the blood vessels throughout his body starting to ache.

As the floral vine extended, the pain deepened. When it reached the smaller blood vessels, the degree of rupture became more severe.

Ning Su turned to see that Fang Qi’s blood vessels were also starting to swell and bulge.

He had just shown them that his sacred flower had grown to the point where it connected to his shoulders and arms, and when the sacred flower awakened in the dead of night, it would grow wildly along the blood vessels of his arm.

He grabbed the vine at his elbow, as if trying to restrain its rampant growth.

This action had some effect, but the blood vessels were too tough, and his space to press them down was limited, so the vine continued to grow.

As he thought of pressing it down again, the vines on his other arm began to collide with the blood vessels. His arm was already throbbing with pain, let alone exerting force.

The pain turned his wheat-colored skin somewhat pale, and sweat beads formed densely on his face, dripping like rain.

The main hall echoed with other flower attendants’ agonized screams, painful moans, and hopeless cries, accompanied by the sound of his head hitting the ground and walls.

Fang Qi didn’t make a sound.

He lay stiffly on the bed, gripping the edge tightly, as firm as a rock.

Ning Su blinked, his emotions inexplicable.

Ning Changfeng said, “His ability should be related to body enhancement.”

“Even so, his determination is impressive.”

Ning Su made a sound of agreement, not knowing what he had just remembered. When Fang Qi said he was going to find that person, his eyes gleamed with unwavering determination.

Just like now.

Now Fang Qi’s eyes were moist, and Ning Su could be certain that the sweat that had flowed into his eyes had made them shine even brighter.

No one knew what he’s thinking.

What kind of person and scene was supporting him?

Ning Su slowly placed his hand on his chest, feeling the blossoming of the flower in his heart.

As the bud began to bloom, his heart beat violently.

One by one, so rapidly that he could hardly catch his breath.

It was a miraculous sensation.

Since he turned into a zombie, his once stiff and lifeless heart hadn’t pounded like this for a long time.

The vigorous heartbeat was a sign of vitality.

His pale fingers sank deep into the black silk robe, and the young man lowered his head to quietly feel the power that drove his heart to beat deep within.

Outside, the screams grew more desperate, and the cries were heavy and suppressed.

Fang Qi’s hand suddenly straightened.

It wasn’t he who straightened it; it was the flowering vines of his blood vessels.

Blue flowering vines extended from his fingertips, forming a thick strand that blurred the line between finger and vein.

“Ah—”

A painful scream finally escaped from his mouth.

The blue flowering vine emerged from his fingernail.

Ning Su opened his eyes slightly wider, and even Ning Changfeng took half a step back.

After the blue flowering vine emerged from his fingernail, it continued to grow, extending straight up into the air, with red blood and blue sticky fluid mixed together as it slid down.

They all knew what the sticky fluid from Fang Qi’s fingernail was when they entered the Flower God’s temple in the morning.

He wasn’t the only one; several flower attendants in the temple had grown flowering vines.

Vines of different colors and shapes emerged from their fingers, between their ears, and even from their eyes, growing wildly upward in the dim temple and swaying in mid-air like slender tentacles.

The human bodies connected to the roots seemed like mere soil.

Drops of liquid fell onto the bed, the stone floor, and flowed into the gaps in the stones, nourishing the moss.

The air carried a strong and pungent odor, an odor like something fermenting in the dark depths of the sea, from the underground, from space, giving off an unknown and eerie scent in the damp cold.

Ning Su breathed heavily and slowly stood up.

The clear peach blossom eyes reflected a scene as if it was hell.

Vines with frantic growth twitched and were about to reach the window.

The vines connected to twisted bodies with ferocious faces.

Ning Su’s ears were filled with wails, all the sounds of vines splitting and growing.

His heartbeat quickened.

“Thump—thump, thump—thump, thump—”

Something was sprouting.

It was like spring.

Ning Su stared blankly at his own chest.

It was the flower in his heart that was sprouting.
