Reincarnation ~ From the Upper World to the Lower World Chapter 4

With my newly acquired fire magic, I wanted to test how strong it was. I took position aiming at the river.

[Flame!]

Although i hesitated with what to chant, it seems to have come to me naturally. From my palm, flames were ejected. Though the flames disappeared after a few seconds, it was by no means lacking in heat. The range seems to be about 1 metre, i wonder if I can adjust the power?

This time I imagine a small flame. Then, a fire slightly bigger than that of a lighter appeared on the tip of my finger. It seems the power can be adjusted.

I was feeling a little tired, so I checked my MP. It seems to have decreased by about 6 points. So does one cast cost 3 points? If so, rapid fire may be a problem.

Next, I picture the image of a sphere. A ball of fire the size of a soccer ball appears in my palm. There doesn’t seem to be any consumption of MP in order to maintain it. I aimed at the calm water’s surface and threw it. It flew over the surface of the water at a considerable speed and then exploded. Water vapour and wind scatter, the speed seems comparable to that of a junior high baseball players throw.

Anyway, with this, i can see that magic is very versatile. I had also challenged and beaten the so called “Chant less casting”.

I managed to produce a fireball just by picturing it in my head.  I also tried to picture it flying, however it seemed to go out halfway through.

Though, I succeeded in doing it after several attempts, I don’t fully understand how it works. It seems like it won’t work if the image isn’t pictured clearly. Magic is easy if you have a good imagination.

I decided to take a rest as I had become a little tired. I pull out some dried meat from my bag and check my status whilst eating.

Is it because I’ve taken a rest? It seems like my MP has recovered a little. Apparently, it seems to recover as time passes. Also, apparently I’ve gained the 『Chant less casting: Level 1』skill. If I raise this, maybe magic will be easier to picture.

Since my break was over, i decided to hunt the remaining red dots on the map.

The number of enemies near the hut seem to number 6 in total. I wanted to try flame magic in actual combat, however it was far too dangerous to use in a forest. So I decided to just use my dagger.

The red dots consisted of 3 red dogs and 3 slimes. After I had defeated them all, my level rose.

The rise in ability this time seems to be big. I decided to go for a basic skill again and chose 『Speed Improvement』.

『Speed Improvement: Level 1 has been acquired. Because of this, the derivation skill Spy: Level 1 has also been acquired.』

Spy? I don’t understand it very well, but will it let me move like a ninja? Even though my level rose, I still don’t feel any different. I decided to test it out.

Once it was activated I took a few steps forward. It seems like the sound from crushed leaves and twigs has sufficiently decreased.

It seems like this skill can be used to erase your presence.

I have already secured the surrounding area, so perhaps I should rest for today. I dismantled the red dogs and collected their meat.

I get some dead twigs and sticks from the forest and place them in the hearth. Usually I would need a newspaper or something in order to provide enough flames to light the twigs. However, as i have flame magic, there is no need.

I pour the water I got from the nearby river into the pan, then I cut the meat into small pieces and boil it. I stick some spare meat onto a stick then place it over the fire to the side of the pot. A kebab, regrettably there is no seasoning.

Because it smelled good, I decided to eat the kebab first. It has a hard texture, but it’s taste is similar to chicken. It’s delicious.

After consuming the kebab, I put out the fire and ate the boiled meat. The meat was very tender. Although it was easy to eat, it seems as though the taste was boiled out.

After everything is consumed, I rest. I’ll pray the next monster I kill can be eaten. I decided to confirm my status before sleeping.

It might have been because I was physically and mentally tired. But, as soon as a laid down, I lost consciousness.
