Queen Kohra 39 39

Lesker didn't know where he was anymore. One minute, he was hitting his head on the temple floors due to extreme pain, the next he was in a dark place with only a few stars to light up the place.

Stars.

Where did the stars come from? he wondered.

Was he dead or was someone just playing a cruel joke on him?

It was fate, it was definitely fate.

"You're not dead but you're not alive either. You're in the Grey, the place between the world of the living and the world of the dead" a celestial voice whispered in his mind.

"Who are you?"

"You wouldn't understand if I told you who I am. To put it simply, I am the cosmos. I am everything and everywhere. Make no mistake, I am no god. Everything is made up of me so I am much more impactful than them"

"Why am I here?"

"Well, the only reason living people come to the Grey is to gain power. Are you here to gain power, Lesker?"

"I...I don't know. I just want to save Kohra and help her. I don't even know how I got here. I don't just want to be useless again"

"I'll ask again, Lesker. Are you here to gain power, Lesker?"

"No"

His reply was shocking but it came from deep within. He knew and he had seen firsthand what power was capable of. If he was to cause that much destruction and pain, instead of helping Kohra, he could destroy the world. He didn't want that. He wasn't capable of controlling that much power. Maybe it was just right he was born without any magix.

"Your answer is surprising but not to me. I expected it. You're very special Lesker, more than you know it. Despite not having any magix, you were born with a divine spark. After all, you went through, you ended up marrying a Queen who is fighting right now to save you. You have luck and you have your brains. For that, I will reward you with one of my greatest creations. It is up to you to decide what to do with it. Goodbye for now, Lesker"

Lesker was back in the temple. Kitari and Atu stood beside him, blocking him from being eviscerated by the ongoing battle.

"Please step aside" Lesker says, standing up. The dried blood on his forehead and his sickly appearance made him look pathetically weak.

"No. We have to protect you. Kohra wouldn't like it if her husband died in the middle of a fight"

"I'm tired Kitari, tired of people protecting me and assuming me weak. I'm perfecting capable of taking care of myself"

Kitari and Atu's mouth hung when a magix circle formed around him. It didn't even feel like normal magi or divine energy. It felt like more. Like a normal type of energy that ran chills down their spine. His injuries cleared and a halo of light hung above his head. His clothes turned white and ethereal.

"What the..." Kitari couldn't finish her statement.

"I thought he had no magic. What's going on? Why does he look like a god?" Atu questioned.

"It's because he has ascended. He's a celestial now" Anak replies, landing beside them.

"A celestial?" Kitari questioned, watching him walk away.

"A celestial is a being who is a vital piece of the cosmos. Just like the sun and moon. He has become something like a god but more than a god. A human celestial; a deity"

"How?"

"I don't know. It's his luck. The ritual of the unliving was supposed to kill him but he somehow turned into a deity. Even gods would be envious of that. After all, every one of these gods here want to become deities. Why else would they be collecting divine sparks for over a millennium?" Anak informed, hiding under the barrier spell Atu created. It was withstanding the attacks from the gods with Kitari's enhancement spell.

"I thought it was to prevent the ascension of other gods" Atu replied.

"That too. Lesker, are you still in there or is it someone else?" Anak called out.

"Anak, dragon emperor. Vessel of the flame of life and deity of the light order. You've got quite an interesting past" Lesker replied with a smile.

"Oh, don't tell me...you're the deity of knowledge. Honestly, of all things, you're actually the thing I fear the most. Well, as long as you don't try to harm me or my family, we're good"

"I wouldn't hurt anybody. Well, except from him" Lesker pointed to Burmi.

"Knock yourself out"

Lesker nodded and shot at Burmi.

"You're a deity too? I thought you were a god"

"I never said I was one. Why do you think those two can't kill me? Celestials are hard to kill. The only thing that can be done to a celestial is forced slumber. I don't want to sleep for another thousand years"

"At this point, I don't understand anymore" Atu said, scratching his head.

"You don't need to. All you need to know is our duty is to protect Kohra and make sure her ascension is complete. Who knows, she might even become a deity too"
