Chapter 19: No Results

"Ah Rui was right, we should at least go around the community searching for the people and then contact some of their clients which proves that we spent a lot of effort and time to look for them." I agreed with the thin man this time.

The thin man's expression was more bitter than before. It was evident that he realized that "running around the community" was quite dishonest.

It's like the minor characters in a TV series, you do not have the chance to be a good hit. There's no relatives behind you, so you're going to have to put on a hard-working face so that at least you can get praise as a model worker, dedication.

"Qi Ge, can you give me the whole name first?" The thin man looked at me pitifully.

I shake my head, "From what I heard in the morning, they probably had three people, two men and one woman. They were all very young, one of them was surnamed Liu and the other Ye."

"What is the use of that?" The thin man mourned.

I ignored him and went back to looking at the "New Year's Ghost Child." By the time I got off work, I had listened to all the audio files and Qingye's surveillance video on the computer with it paused at the last second.

The monitor was a bit blurry, but Yu Meng and Wang Fangjie were holding hands, just like any normal loving couple.

Who can guess that the man has already been posessed by an malicous spirit?

Yu Meng is dead and Wang Fangjie is nowhere to be found. Xiao Zheng and that ghost baby are nowhere to be found, too. The people of Qingye didn't find the person and the two ghosts at the end. Are they living somewhere in this world? Maybe I passed by them once...

"Lin Qi, are you ok?" Guo Yujie waved her eyes in front of my face.

"Oh, I'm ok." I looked up and saw the thin man and the fat man and suddenly shouted. "Two more people."

This time I now understand why Qingye needed to record so many audio files. It was because one of them can hear the ghost in the audio files. And their "Tou Er" can actually use his fist to defeat a ghost. It always surprised me.

"What?" The three did not understand.

"I said, there is a total of 5 people in that Qingye office."

"Are there names?" The thin man's eyes brightened.

"Nope." I hesitated a little, "Someone might be able to look for it." I turned the file over a few pages. "Zhang Dong, former room manager of Junli Inn. He has contacted Qingye Supernatural Office."

There is a first and last name and a unit which makes it easier to find.

Guo Yujie turned her head and ask the others: "Have you searched online before? This office should have business and its either someone introduced it or they advertised it. This office probably wasn't advertised formally. Can it be a small network advertisement?"

The fat man sighed, "I checked already, but there's just nothing there!"

"But this Yu Meng contacted them through the internet." I recalled an audio file I heard.

"Maybe it was deleted." The fat man guessed.

The thin man has already called the police station and kept saying good things about them.

This situation indeed is a troublesome for the police station. They have checked so many people and now they might have to check more. Fortunately, we are from the demolition firm and the neighborhood and the police all understand and cooperate with our work.

After talking for quite a while, the thin man has a happy expression and wrote something down. "Thank you so much! Hey, when I have time, I shall treat you to dinner! Ok, ok, thank you!" The phone hanged up and the thin man told us to take a look at what he wrote down. "There is finally someone who is alive!"

Guo Yujie rolled her eyes and went to the bathroom. When she came back, she saw us all dispirited and was confused and asked us: "What happened?"

I looked at the thin man pouting. "The contact information that Zhang Dong left for Qingye was is a mobile phone number, but..."

"It was suspended." The thin man sat on the table.

"We have a phone number and we still can't find the people?" Guo Yujie doubted.

"There is no real name registration!" The thin man clutched at his hair.

Guo Yujie was speechless, "What about the name? We don't even know the name?"

"We don't know. We only this person's surname is Liu." The fat man replied with a look of frustration.

"Then you guys can only keep up with the work." Guo Yujie said a few comforting words and began to pack up her things, "I am off!"

"You're not going to that Gongnong village?" The thin man asked.

"We're all off from work." Guo Yujie was puzzled.

"That's right. We're all off from work and the people we are looking for all also off work." The thin said of course and in the end he looked like he was dead.

"You don't know yet? Me and Lin Qi are responsible for two old men." Guo Yujie gave a crafty smile. "Moreover these two men went to visit their relatives and have not been in the city recently."

"So they're not here which means you're just not going to work? No other goals?" The thin man said, he felt indignant from the injustice.

"Currently no." Guo Yujie picked up her bag and shook his fist and waved goodbye. "Bye, keep up with the good work!"

"Goddamnit," the thin man said as he sweared.

"I will go with you guys to Gongnong village," I said to the thin man. "I will give you that file."

The thin man's face litted up with surprise and happiness, "Qi Ge! You really are my brother!"

The three of us went to that village.

The thin man drove and talked to us in the car: "I think that place is just too evil. Look at the address: 6th Floor, Building 6, Gongnong 6 Village, 666 Guoqiang Road. A string of six!"

"That's very 6?" The fat man said.

"6, my ass!" The thin man's attitude was very violent today.

I listened to the thin man and that's when I realized that this Qingye Supernatural Office's address was indeed strange.

"I'm guessing that they chose this place on purpose and opened a supernatural office." The thin man continued to talk. "It couldn't be a coincidence. I mean the previous owners of that place literally gave the building away to them."

"The 6 villages of Gongnong were orginally divided into units and the households were all old colleagues. To persuade them, maybe one of them helped the people and they moved." The fat man stated another possibility.

"You still haven't found the original owner of that place, yet?" I asked.

The original owner of the place and the owner of Qingye were definitely different people, so we can't pinpoint the exact one. There is no real estate transaction record, but it might have been completed in private, or the original owner died and the inheritor may have obtained the place but didn't conduct the transcation. Now that I think about it, instead of looking for the people of Qingye, it would be better if we looked for the original owner. The file on the side of the real estate bureau was defaced and I can't see the name. Just like what the fat man said, this neighborhood used to be splitted into units. To look for someone, you can just go from that unit or ask older households.

"Not yet. There is an old file over there and it's even handwritten! I asked someone to translate it over this afternoon, it was so hard to find that file and I had finally found it. The translator could barely even decipher it," said the thin man bitterly.

I can only pat the thin man sympathetically and asked: "What about the other employees?"

"We called for the whole afternoon and no one remembered anything."

There was no empty parking spot in the neighborhood. The thin man parked the car in shopping mall's parking lot. The three of us ate first and then walked to the neighborhood. We entered the 6th building and went up to the 5th floor and the thin man kept saying his farewells.

I was annoyed but it was so funny at the same time. So we helplessy climbed up to the 6th floor.

I didn't know if it was because of what the thin man said or was it because I listened to those audio files this afternoon, but I felt like the temperature was so much colder on the 6th floor than the 5th floor.

Maybe it's because no one came here for a long time. I thought about it and then I opened the door with the key.

The door still had a message from the police station that explained why the door was broken down and it had our demolition office's contact number so that if the owner comes back, they can come to us for the keys.

When I opened the door, that message slipped off and made a squeaking noise, which was sudden since the 6th floor was so quiet. I couldn't help, but look back at the stairs.
