"Hah…. Hah….---"

Dante opened his eyes and at the same time made a rough gasp. When he saw the familiar ceiling of his bedroom, he realised had woken up.

He took a deep breath in an attempt to calm his chaotic heartbeat.

—What the hell is with that dream?

It was a strange dream.

He had been having that same dream for the past few days ago. He didn't remember such a scene and he wasn't aware of any incident that matched his dream.

Even though what happened ten years ago was blurry, he was sure of one fact.

Monsters such as demons did not exist.

They could only exist in a fantasy book or an anime show. So that dream didn't make any sense to him.

Wait, In the first place, when did dreams ever make sense?

One could dream about having superpowers, running away from zombies or even being an animal. There was even one time he dreamt about being a mosquito.

He sighed.

In the end, a dream was just a dream. A fantasy created by the subconscious.

"…Huh? Somehow, it's still hard to breathe…"

Even though he woke up from his dream, he still couldn't breathe properly.

[WAKE UP! WAKE UP! IF YOU DON'T WAKE UP, I'M GOING TO PUT ICE CUBES IN YOUR PANTS!!]

He heard the voice of his alarm. It was a unique alarm that wakes you up with a female voice but it didn't actually have the function to wake up the owner.

"So this time, it was a tsundere. Haha! Wait, I actually woke up before the alarm?"

He rubbed his eyes while sitting up and checked the time on the his smartphone.

7: 00am, 21th July.

It was a Monday. It was also a school day. Summer break has just ended so it was the start of a new session.

He quickly did some major preparations like brushing his teeth, taking a bath and wearing the overall black school uniform of harmony academy.

"Huh? What's that?"

When he was about to leave his room, he saw a letter resting on his bed.

Did he leave it there?

No, he was sure he didn't have anything like that before he slept last night.

Was it his dad?

No, it was definitely not his dad either since he was currently out of the country because of his line of work.

It couldn't be his mother because she was out of the picture ever since he was young.

So how did it get there? He didn't understand. Maybe he left it there and forgot about it.

Really, the human brain can be very frightening at times.

Have you ever entered a room and forgot the reason why you entered there in the first place, only to remember the reason when you leave the room?

It was something has happens from time to time yet it can't be explained.

Unable to contain his curiosity, he pick up the letter, opened it and read its contents. However, he had to tilt his head to the side in confusion.

[Greetings Dante, we are a group known as the 'Golden Dawn', an international security maintenance organization created to counter 'Dark Magicians'. You must be probably wondering if this is a joke but believe us, it is not. We write this letter to inform you of your special power. A great magic that could cause misfortune for those around you if not controlled. Because of that power, many will try to eliminate you or use you to further their own goals. But do not fear, we will send an observer to protect you and help you control your power.]

The Letter ended there.

It wasn't strange for Dante to be confused. He heard so many terms that could only be found in a fictional book.

Magic? Magicians? Magic Cult?

He couldn't understand any of those words. Was this some kind of joke.

He felt as if a little kid had walked up to him and said Santa Claus existed and you are on his naughty list.

If such a wonderful thing as magic could exist, then wouldn't people be flying in the air and shooting fireballs from their fingers.

"What kind of sick prank is this? Maybe this is hand work from that person."

His best friend he met since he started high-school here. Since he was a foreigner in an unfamiliar country, getting to know others was difficult.

Outside tourism, this place wasn't that kind to foreigners whether it was job or school. He was forced to learn that cold truth the hard way.

But when he met that guy in his first year at the harmony academy, they were able to get along just fine.

Despite having a unique personality and was slightly perverted, he was still a good guy. However, he hated it when he pulled pranks like this.

"He must have pick this letter in my bag when I went to his place. Seriously, that guy. I'm going to repay him a hundred folds!"

A cruel smile formed on his lips. He hurriedly threw the letter inside his school bag and hung it on his shoulder.

He quickly went down to the kitchen to prepare breakfast and lunch.
