He told himself.

According to a rumor, the children who would frequent the premises of the vampire noble named Ferid, would suddenly disappear. Were they killed or something, or might have there been another reason? He wasn’t sure. Here, if a few livestock went missing, it wouldn’t be an issue.

“…It’s going to be fine. I can do this.”

He knocks on the grand door of the mansion, uncertain whether the sound could have been heard from within. But, the door opens, inviting him.

Inside, the place was magnificent. He has only seen houses like this in picture books and fairy tales. Some children were working there as well, one of them was a girl who saw Mika and said,

"Lord Ferid.”

“……………..”

“Lord Ferid, I’ve brought a guest.”

“Hm~?”

A voice answers back.

Amidst the flowerbed Mika glimpse into, the upper body of a handsome man rose among them. Alluring red eyes look their way.

“Oh, you came. Welcome to my estate.”

Voiced the boy looking at Ferid for an answer.

“You may go now. Take anything you like from these grounds.

"Th-thank you so much!

"So, I heard if I came here, I could get various of good benefits from you, Lord Ferid.”

Ferid then seems to stare intently on Mika’s figure as though appraising him, and smiles.

“Yes, if I like you.”

If that’s the case, then he absolutely needed to be favored.

Yuu-chan keeps saying that one day he’ll beat up the vampires…and the children believe in him now…but that is impossible.

Sooner or later everyone will know it’s impractical. Their hearts will fall into the darkest despair and hopelessness. Before something like that happens, he must give them even just a little something akin to hope…

“Then what should I do to get you to like me, Lord Ferid?”

“Mm~hm yes. You might say I already taking a shine to you a bit. Those blue eyes of yours. Then that beautiful golden hair. I wonder is it natural?

"Oh, yes. I’m pretty sure it is since I never dyed it.”

“Where were you born?”

“Japan.”

“Then you’re Japanese?”

“No.”

“Well any type is fine. Do you mind if I ask your name?”

“I’m called Mikaela. Hyakuya Mikaela.”

Upon hearing that, Ferid laughed.

Ferid replied as he came closer.

Mika looked up at the vampire noble when Ferid suddenly mentioned,

What is going on?

He couldn’t have heard that right.

He grew weak.

"Ugh. Hn, hn, ah, ahhh.”

He said as he released him. Mika put his hands on the ground, unable to stand up.

“Haa, haa, haa, haa.”

“In the dining room there’s a meal prepared for you. Eat, then return for today. It was nice meeting you. Hyakuya Mikaela-kun. I look forward to seeing you again after this.”

“I, I will! Thank you!”

He answers looking up but Ferid was no longer there.

It seems as though it was approved he could visit here.

That’s living with no worth.

“ ……………..”

Imagining the children’s smiles, a tiny one appears on Mika’s tired face.

I have to keep this in the dark from Yuu-chan for awhile. If I told him, then he’ll suggest we come here together.

Yet if he does come here, I don’t want to see Yuu-chan have his blood sucked by a vampire. I won’t let Yuu-chan have such an experience.

I want Yuu-chan to always be smiling strongly, and saying dumb things like he’ll beat up those vampires.

If he doesn’t,

Mika voiced out while smiling, holding onto the rations of fruits he found for the children, and he left Ferid’s estate.

Back in the building they live in, Yuu-chan was waiting outside, his arms folded, back to the wall, sporting an strange anxious look. He was waiting there the whole time, wasn’t he?

He noticed him.

Hearing that said, the children emerge from the building.

“Oh! Mika-nii!”

“Where did you go Mika-nii?”

Seeing Yuu-chan and the childrens’ smiling faces, filled his weary body with strength.

Yuu-chan was abandoned by his parents, and said there’s no such thing as family but, for Mika, everyone in the Hyakuya Orphanage here was his first family.

One that won’t toss him out of a car.

I want to protect this family, he thought from the bottom of his heart.

No matter how horrible this place is, if everyone is here then I’ll grin and bear it.

With that, Mika put on a grin reaching ear to ear on his face and said,

They rally in an uproar.

Watching that, Yuu-chan smiles.
