Overlord Blue Citadel Alternate 23 『Spawns』

Sifting through the mercenary system once more, he would flick on down the list. Looking over the types of things he could bring into this world if he truly wanted to. Anything from golems to monstrous beasts. He liked the fact that he could spawn a number of Automatons at will, but he didn't necessarily need an army.

At least not yet.

Turning on the sorting tool, the monsters and other spawnable mercenaries would ultimately appear under certain categories: Heteromorphic and Humanoid. There were plenty of Knights he could spawn, something that would actually fit into this world.

He wondered if these beings could procreate with this world's population.

Based on the knowledge of the Godkin from the Slane Theocracy, it was quite clear that those who had been born from players or maybe even NPCs, could reach higher levels than normal.

His thoughts went towards Enri for a moment. Imagining her having given birth to a dragonoid of some sort. As again from his knowledge, there was a possibility of a Dragonoid being born from a human-dragon encounter as evidenced by the Dragon Kingdom's Queen to the South.

She was able to change her shape from human to dragon, and even have multiple humanoid forms, one being a child and the other being a curvaceous adult woman.

If he had indeed impregnated Enri with today's act, would she give birth to a being such as that? The idea was intriguing, which meant that he could 'create' future subordinates to do his bidding.

Caressing his chin in curiosity, he looked at the treasury record of how much gold was current. With all of the guild members combined, there was almost a trillion gold that had been put in.

Letting out a quiet simper, he closed his eyes taking in the sentimental memories of adventures, that he had with his friends. Then his eyes went back towards the spawn menu, another question coming to mind. If he were to spawn monsters and then kill or devour them, would he still gain their accumulated levels, experience and skills?

Could he use them to power level his current staff members, or even this worlds natives? Perhaps he could force a group of adventurers to fight waves in the eighth level arena.

If they died, he'd just resurrect them and the battle would continue. The idea sounded sadistic, but it was something he wanted to experiment with. He would take a group that was to strong, but not one that was too weak either.

From the information given to him on the Adventurer's Guild, he was sure a Silver-Ranked Adventurer Party would be the perfect match. Or he could hire a worker party, they were probably more expensive, but there would no one to actively look for them should they up and disappear one day.

There were plenty of options, if not too many.

"I am curious though..." He uttered under his breath as he looked at the open door of the Throne Chambers. "If there were another Guild Base in this world, could I take control over it? In turn, would I lose control of this one if I did?"

This question he asked aloud, wasn't answered. Based on the stories of the City south from the Slane Theocracy, the one once owned by the Eight Greed Kings, he was sure he could test this theory. He was sure that the city itself may be a Guild Base, as his own was a City as well.

Tapping one of the cheapest Knights on the list in front of him, a being would spawn from a splash of light that erupted in the center of the Throne Room.

A male knight in blackened light plate armor and a purple plume on his helmet. At his side was a iron sword with a silvery sheen to it, and on his right arm was a kite shield. "I have come, My Lord." Was the words that echoed from its helmet, eerily at that.

The being then approached the throne and knelt down. "What are your orders, My Lord?"

"I hate to be prudent, but show your face, Knight." He crossed his arms and looked down at the Mercenary he had just spawned, very much curious of him.

The Knight froze for a moment hearing the man speak, "My Lord. You are expected to be Prudent for such manners. I do apologize," reaching up with both hands, the Knight removed his helmet and tucked it under his arm.

His face revealed was adorned with long white hair that traveled down past his shoulders. He had thin silvery grey brows, and violet-blue eyes, along with sickly pale skin and a rounded head. Elven ears protruded from the sides of his head, his hair initially forming wings over them.

"Your name, Sir Knight?" Jack simpered at his use of etiquette, it was strange on the tongue.

"My name is Edmund." The man looked up to Jack, staring at those Amethyst eyes, curiously.

"You may stand, Sir Edmund." Jack rose his hand as to be at ease, allowing the newly spawned Knight to be relaxed. "You are to be apart of an experiment of mine, my good Sir."

The Knight did not fear death at the hands of this man, but he did sound cautious as he wondered what this experiment may entail. So he had no choice but to question, "An Experiment...?"

"Leveling," he responded as he gestured towards the door. "Walk with me."

Nodding the Knight would follow Jack as he made his way out of the Chambers and towards the stairwell down to the lower floors. He felt more in the mood to walk, than to use his ring for the time being.

About an hour or so later, after traversing the rest of the ninth floor, they made their way onto the eighth. As they were entering the Arena, the came to a stop as they were walking through the stands that overlooked it.

The sky in this floor did not have a daytime or a nighttime sky. Instead the floor itself had a sky filled of clouds with ambient rain and the sound of thunder. This floor was not a happy place and unless one enjoyed thunder and lightning, or rain of all things. The only bonus of inhabiting this place was the unlimited water supply, which like the city itself.

"What shall I be fighting against, My Lord?"

Glancing over towards the Knight, Jack raised a brow, gesturing towards tons of terrified Goblins who were in cages within one of closed gate the arena entrances. "During the exploitation of nearby mineral deposits, we've captured a number of specimens. It's time to put them to use."

Taking a power suit, a leather collar with a short metal chain attached to it, from his item box, he held it out to the Knight. "This will increase your experience intake, but also weaken you."

The Knight slowly took the item from the perceived master and stared at it. It reminded the Knight of what a slave may wear. His eyes then shifted up towards Jack as he placed his helmet down on the nearby stand and placed it on around his neck.

The item was rather large so it fit quite easily around his head and his neck.

"Your combat training will begin in several hours, if not the day after tomorrow. For the time being, use your skills and use the training dummies to your advantage," he gestured towards the training dummies on the far end of the arena.

"Understood."

"I will come back later to check on your status. Train for three hours, take a thirty minute break, and continue as so." Jack ordered before folding his hands behind his back. "Push yourself, but not too far."

"As you say, My Lord."

After a short while, Jack left the arena and made his way down to the seventh floor, this time utilizing his guild ring to leave the previous floor.

Appearing within what looked to be a modern arcade, he could hear the smashing of buttons. What was going on here?

"Come on! Kill him! You got this!"

Jack was pretty sure that was Teetle's voice, cheering someone on. Was someone playing an old time arcade game? Pursing his lips, he made his way down the various 'corridors' of games, and when he turned a corner he narrowed his eyes on Teetle and Nemu.

"I got him!" Nemu cheered, bouncing on what appeared to be a step stool. She even turned around and did a double high five with the lich, one who several hours ago she had been afraid of. "I did it!"

His eyes shifted to the game they were playing and raised a brow, it was a bullet time game. She had completely discombobulated the final boss. "Well done," Jack finally spoke up, causing both of them to jump as he came walking out of the dim lighting and into their view.

"Jack-sama!" Teetle pronounced loudly, bowing his head. "What brings you here?"

"Where's neechan?" Nemu asked as she looked on either side of Jack, before narrowing her eyes on the man suspiciously.

"She's resting," Jack responded as he folded his arms over his chest looking her over. "You did pretty well with that game, did you not?"

"Game?" Nemu smiled widely before looking over towards the thing she had been playing. "This is a game?"

"Video Games, or Arcade Games." Jack said as he gestured towards this entire floor which had mostly parodies of real games. Oddly enough, it seemed they all became real after transporting to the new world. Did that mean he could use the castle for financial gain as well? Like one of those fancy casinos in the past? He couldn't help but chuckle at the idea.

"Arcade games... I think the other kids at the village would love to play these!"

Jack sniggered at her observation, "Perhaps... But for the time being, you cannot tell anyone what you've seen or done here." He pointed a finger to her, as if to make her understand.

Nemu nodded and made a zipper sound as she ran her fingers across her sealed lips.

"Your sister is currently up at the hot spring baths up on the ninth floor." He pointed upward, "If you'd like to join her and take a bath, just ask Teetle to guide you."

Nemu cutely hopped off the chair with her arms out for balance, before waddling on up to him, almost like a happy little duck. Without a second's notice, she threw her arms around the man. Smiling up at Jack.

"Why are you so nice to us?"

"If I told you, I'd have to eat you." Jack simpered as he'd quip a joke.

Staring up at him with wide eyes, "Oh..." She shrank against his legs. "I don't think it'd taste to good, I taste like grass."

"Cows eat grass all the time." Jack teased as he ruffled her hair a bit. "Don't worry, I won't eat you. Your life is currently too valuable to waste, nurturing you seems to be the best option."

"Nurture...?"

"What if I told you, I could make you a powerful sorceress?"

She slowly lowered her arms as she let her imagination fly off the wheel. "How powerful?"

"Perhaps... Weave straw into gold?" Jack closed one eye as he looked down on her, "Maybe even turn a noble into a frog and serve him to the King."

"Eewww..." The people of the village weren't to keen on nobility or really the King either. In their times of need, it wasn't the King who saved them. "That's so cool though!"

"Well, I'll let you be... I've got some things I need to take care of." With a light wave, Jack had vanished from their sight as if he had never been.
