All the people who were indifferent to the fate of the little bean got up when they heard this. Official Liu was also the first to bear the brunt of this news.

“What?!” He was taken aback and hurriedly loosened his grip on the little boy. Forgetting to wear his pants, he hurriedly rushed out from behind the tea table towards Ye Mu, “You said His Majesty is critically ill? Don’t make such irresponsible remarks!”

Official Liu impatiently pushed away the servant girl. He tightly held the arm of Ye Mu, the fat face leaning in, eyes in deep fright.

It was only logical that he was being so flustered. After all, he is the Yue Country emperor’s red man** merely nothing more but a servant. Only with the emperor was he able to carry on with his diabolical actions. So if the emperor dies, then his fate would turn for the worse, a miserable end! So even if the other party was just a little girl, he was worried when heard this.

**T/N: A Red man (越国) is a person famous with the common people. Usually red signifies entertainment and voyeurism.

Ye Li, with his pair of copper eyes, stared hard at her. He also fiercely demanded, “Mu’er! Where did you hear this news? If you dare tell lies, then prepare to be fed to the tigers!”

Several other men also gathered around her, eyeing her up and down. Seeing that Ye Mu was only five or six years old, they thought that such a small child could not dare tell such a lie even if she borrowed the courage of a hundred men.

Surrounded by people, Ye Mu pretended to be afraid and backed off just a few steps back, but her voice was clear and articulate, “Just a while ago, I was playing in my room, when suddenly a man in black covered my mouth from behind, leaving the words ‘the emperor critically ill‘ and ran away unnoticed! But if this news is false… he has never touched girls, but he doesn’t mind tasting it for the first time!

There was a flash of malice in his eyes, and he hurried away masking his impatience with a calm face. Several other men also felt apprehensive about the matter. The main reason was that, they did not believe such a small child could tell such a lie. They all left with a half-hearted attitude, leaving only Ye Li looking pensive.

“I ask you, did a man dressed in black personally told you this matter? How tall is he?  Were you able to see his appearance?”

Ye Mu shook her head, somewhat looking timid to speak, “I was scared silly, how would I be able to pay so much attention? And father, are our residence’s imperial guards dead? Even with so many eyes, some stranger was able to break inside this Young lady’s room! What if they came to kill me?”

Ye Li saw the panic in her face, and his mind became a little dazed. He also had conflicting feelings—he didn’t believe the child could make up such an outrageous lie. But in the end, everything will be discovered after the spies have checked the emperor’s condition. Additionally, there was also such a powerful person… what if he was the one supposed to be assassinated—what could he do?!

So Ye Li could no longer dawdle and sent her back to her room. He immediately called out his people and went to his study, leaving the chaotic hall to the housekeepers.

Seeing Ye Li walking away, Ye Mu rubbed her neck, inwardly sighing a breath of relief.
