Chapter 108: The old man in the abyss

At the bottom of the abyss, it was pitch dark.  There was no light at all, nor could there be any kind of light existing.  But, right as Ye Tian Xie was taking out the elemental illumination light that little girl Sha Sha had given him in Falling Wind Town, Guo Guo's voice suddenly drew his attention, "Yi, yi?  Master, there seems to be something shining over there.  It keeps sparkling, just like…..Just like a star in the sky."  

He was clearly in the dark, yet Ye Tian Xie found it strange that he could clearly make out Guo Guo's body.  Her body seemed to be releasing a strange light that allowed people to clearly see her…..But this light seemed to have no effects on her surroundings which was still covered in darkness.

In this dark world, there was a little girl half the size of a normal person's arm floating around with a face full of curiosity.  This kind of scene made Ye Tian Xie surprised.  It had to be said, Guo Guo had too many strange things on her body.

Looking at the direction that Guo Guo was pointing in, Ye Tian Xie immediately saw the little glow she was referring to.  In this completely dark world, the single light to exist was very easy to identify.  Only it was very small, so small that it could almost be ignored……But this was also indicating that perhaps, this was the light coming from a tiny object, or the light coming from an object far away.

"Let's go take a look."  Ye Tian Xie's hand circled around in the air and caught Guo Guo who was fluttering around.  He placed her on his shoulder and walked in the direction of the light.

What was strange was the fact that the floor of this ten thousand feet abyss was incredibly smooth.  Not to mention the floor being rugged, there weren't even loose pebbles for him to step on.  This made it hard for Ye Tian Xie to not be suspicious.  Naturally formed abysses would have irregular holes all over the ground, it would not be as flat as this.  Perhaps…..this was all man made!?

The ground under Ye Tian Xie slightly trembled……A dark world at the bottom of the abyss, then, would there be terrifying monsters that would appear?  Or would there be other strange things that would appear?  After all, it took a miracle just to reach this map, so this map shouldn't exist just for the reason of being here.

After walking for about half an hour, the path was still smooth.  Ye Tian Xie had not bumped into any walls or stone barriers and had not stumbled over anything at all.  The small light that was in front of him grew much bigger than when he first saw it.  Moreover, after getting closer, the weak light made Ye Tian Xie feel a strange emotion within his heart……A kind of feeling that was hard to describe.  But if he had to describe it……It would be a kind of pulsing feeling in his body and soul.  As if he felt  a premonition that something was about to happen, or as if something was resonating with him.

"Ta, ta, ta, ta……"

The sounds of Ye Tian Xie's footsteps clearly rang out in this quiet world.  Slowly, the light became stronger and stronger in his eyes.  It became bigger and bigger as the originally small dot of light turned into a mass of light.  After walking for another while, Ye Tian Xie had unknowingly arrived in front of the glow.  His body was almost touching the source of the light.

This is……

A crystal?  A crystal that could emit light?

This ball, which had a diameter of around one meter, was lifted up by a meter high stone platform.  It was completely transparent.  It was hard to tell where the peaceful white light emitted by it was coming from.  Although the light was not intense, it was still enough to clearly shine through this dark world.

"Wa oh, such a large glass ball.  It can even release light…..Yi?  How strange, why can it release light?"  Guo Guo's little body was circling around the "large glass ball".  At the bottom of this abyss, the appearance of something like this seemed very magical.

"Yi……"  Guo Guo gave another yi sound and her body stopped moving.  She slowly moved forward until she was almost lying on the glass bead, "Master, look quickly.  There seems to be something inside of this glass bead!"

"Un, I can see it."  Ye Tian Xie replied.  His eyebrows knit together as he looked at what was lying inside the glowing crystal ball……In the centre, there was actually a sleeping……life form!

And when he saw it for the first time, Ye Tian Xie was sure that this was a fox.  It was a little fox that was different from a normal fox.  The first thing he thought of was the incomparably valuable snow fox that he had seen on the television once.

The fur on the little fox's body did not have any impurities, it was white without any kinds of flaws.  This white was the most pure kind of white, just like snow falling down from the sky.  It's body was very small, it was around the same size as Guo Guo.  There were two small white ears standing up and its nose was black as black diamonds.  Its eyes were closed and it was silently lying down in the centre of the crystal ball……Lying there like that, it was hard to tell how many years it had been there for.  

At the bottom of this abyss, there was this snow white fox that was sealed inside this crystal ball……This kind of magical sight began to entrance Ye Tian Xie.  He reached out his hand and tried to touch the crystal ball in front of him.

"Don't touch it!"

The voice was not loud, but it was like a heavy stone crashing into his heart.  Ye Tian Xie could not help but feel his heart and body trembling.  The hand he reached out was stopped in the air and he raised his head, squinting his eyes as he looked forward……The person who surprised him with his voice did not hide where his voice was coming from……It was coming from right in front of him.

"Wa!  It's a voice, it's a voice.  There's actually someone down here…..What kind of person could it be?"

Guo Guo was surprised and excited, while Ye Tian Xie's heart filled with doubts……This kind of mysterious map in the Destiny world, it has to be hiding something mysterious…..

It really kept people in suspense.

Without hearing the sounds of footsteps, a person's figure stepped out of the darkness.  It slowly became clearer and clearer in Ye Tian Xie's line of sight.  The person wore a black cloak.  The black cloak was covering the majority of his body and also covering the majority of his face.  Ye Tian Xie was unable to see his face, but this was a person.  This was without a doubt, a living person.

Surprise and vigilance quickly filled his heart and Ye Tian Xie took in a breath.  He then asked, "Who are you?"

"You're asking the question I should be asking you.  Human, it really surprises me that you are able to come here, but this is not a place you should have come to."  The mysterious black cloaked man's voice was flat like water, but did not have a friendly tone.  Judging by his voice, he should be an elderly man that was over sixty years old.  But his voice, aura, and pressure all made Ye Tian Xie feel fear in his heart.  

"We have never taken the initiative to provoke humans, so I won't make it hard for you.  You should leave here immediately, there is nothing valuable to you here."  The man shook his head.  His incomparably cold eyes stared forward and looked at Ye Tian Xie.  It lasted a moment, but it was still enough to make Ye Tian Xie knit his brows.

He had referred to me as….."A human".  Then he said "We have never taken the initiative to provoke humans"…….The bottom of this abyss……A thought suddenly appeared in Ye Tian Xie's mind.  Ye Tian Xie gathered himself and then grabbed onto that tiny thought that he had just formed……

"You are…..a dragon?"  Ye Tian Xie raised his head.  Although he had asked a question, he spoke with a tone that seemed like he was already sure of what he said.

Following his question, Ye Tian Xie could clearly feel a disturbance occurring with the opposite side's aura.  So, the last trace of doubt in his heart had disappeared.  Then his eyes turned to look at the glowing crystal ball and he began to ponder.  At the same time, the azure haired man's cold face and lonely figure appeared in his mind……He said he was going to help me, so he meant like this…..

But, why?  How did he know all of this?  Before he went to change jobs, even he didn't know about any of this…….

"But you are not a dragon."  The old man's voice replied to Ye Tian Xie.  He didn't continue to tell him to leave and it was obvious that Ye Tian Xie's words had piqued his interest……Perhaps, he had been alone for too long.  In the bottom of his heart, he probably didn't hope that a person who he could finally talk to would leave that easily.

"How do you know that I am not one?"  Ye Tian Xie asked back with a faint smile on his face.

Ye Tian Xie's words made the old man go silent for a bit.  In the next moment, Ye Tian Xie's body began to tremble uncontrollably.  He could clearly feel that there was a strong aura that had locked his body in place and was slowly scanning around in his body.  Ye Tian Xie stayed still, not making a sound as he stared at the old man, almost as if he felt nothing.

After a few seconds, the strong aura suddenly disappeared.  The man in front of him slowly raised his head and revealed an ordinary old face that made people remember it for their entire life.  A pair of clear eyes stared at Ye Tian Xie, "It seems like living in solitude has made my spiritual sense weaker.  I did not notice it before, but you actually have the dragon's power in your body……Although you do not have pure dragon blood, but us dragons have never looked down on our people breeding with humans…..You, what is your name?"

Dragons mating with humans?  Ye Tian Xie's heart skipped a beat……Kong Xiu had not lied to him, even this old man could feel a dragon's aura coming from him.  But what made him surprised was that the old man had implied with his words that he was actually born from a dragon mating with a human……This made him unsure if he should laugh or cry, but he did not say anything.  This was just something said in a game.  If it was the real world, it would still be a funny joke.  Were either his mother or father actually a dragon……Thinking of his dead parents, Ye Tian Xie face filled with a bit of sadness, but he quickly gathered himself.

But, why did Kong Xiu and this old man both say that his body had a dragon's aura…..Was it a strange setting in this world, or was it something else……Right now, he was very confused.

"Xie Tian."  Ye Tian Xie told the old man his ingame name.

"Xie Tian?"  The old man said this name in a low voice.  He was a little astonished by this name.  He then asked, "Then who is your mother?  Who is your father?"

Ye Tian Xie was silent for a bit, then he shook his head indifferently, "They have disappeared a long time ago, I don't even remember their names."

"Then who was it that told you to come here?"  The old man did not show any surprise to Ye Tian Xie's answer, he was still as calm as before.

"Destiny."

"Good….."  The old man nodded.  His finally released his tense expression and walked forward a few steps.  Standing in front of Ye Tian Xie, he calmly said, "Your wandering eyes have told me that although you have come to this place, you don't understand why you have come here.  According to the regulations, although you have the dragon's power, you also should not have come here.  But since it is destiny that brought you here, I follow your choice."

Ye Tian Xie raised his head and met his gaze.
