Professor Fuji was also very surprised when he heard this. He looked at the agreement again, then called the relevant department to re-confirm. The department had no answer,

but confirmed that his information was correct

When he hung up the phone, he told me, "There is no mistake. The people responsible for the scholarship have nominated you. They asked you to check the agreement, especially the tenth clause."

I turned the page, and found the tenth close on the second page. It said, " Students availing of this scholarship are forbidden to work anywhere else"

Finally it dawned on me. Ye Zhengchen had been really thorough.

As per my impressions, Japan was no better or worse than other countries. It had very rigorous systems and rules in place for everything including availing a scholarship.

It was very difficult to arrange things in such a way that a specific person gets a particular scholarship. It was not a matter that even millions of yen would be able to resolve.

I was as shocked with Ye Zhengchen arranging a scholarship as I was with the level of power he had in Japan.

The fact that a student studying in a Japanese medical school was even able to achieve this was an incredible thing.

"Is there a problem?", the professor asked me.

Since I realised Ye Zhengchen had arranged this for me , I made no fuss and signed the agreement. I took out my bank card from the wallet and updated the number in the form.

After that, the professor said nothing else

I thought I should make best use of the rare opportunity I had received of meeting Professor Fuji and ask him about my research subject.

"Professor, do you have some time? I am having problems with my research matter, I wanted to discuss with you."

As soon as he heard about my research, the professor's dead gray eyes started shining

" Yes, yes."

For one whole hour, I narrated all the difficulties I had encountered across the last six months

I told him that the cancer cells were growing very fast but had very low survival rates and just would not grow in any kind of simulated living environment.

I also told him that I had checked a lot of data on cancer calls and I had tried simulating all kinds of living environments but nothing was suitable for it.

After listening to me, the professor asked me a lot of questions. I answered all his questions one by one. I told him that I suspected that this cell cannot form a spore in the human body.

The professor looked very satisfied. He listened to my observations carefully.

"I simply cannot find any relevant information. I am just going around wasting my time and the resources of the department"

I did not forget to compliment him a bit, "Professor, you are so experienced; you must know something about these cells. Can you help me?"

He thought for a long time and went inside.

After a long time, he handed me a few pages.

"This is part of a doctoral thesis about cell characteristics that were observed during a study. It may be helpful if you were to refer to this."

I took the file, He solemnly patted the file.

"This is still in research stage. It hasn't been published yet and is very confidential. Do you understand what I mean?"

"I understand", I said, "I will keep it to myself."

"Not for me, for the department."

I nodded solemnly.

In my heart I cursed, these Japanese devils are really shrewd. He had new research data and yet kept it in a locked cupboard and didn't share it with anyone. Perhaps he was holding it back for so and so award.
