Never Again 14 Use it well, Little Girl

She would not die physically but worse? How?

Although this sentence seems to be absurd and full of nonsense, the old man understood it. He understood all too well. And he had to learn this the hard way. Power and fame he gained, but the people besides him start to disappear one by one. By the time he reached the top, he found it all meaningless.

What's the use of being powerful if there's no one to share it with? Where everyone looks at you in fear? And you can't even have one casual conversation. What's the point of having fame if you have to sleep with one eye open? Where you're afraid that you'll die in your sleep?

What's the point?

The old man's eye swelled with tears, but none fell. His whole life, he strived and strived. To become the most powerful, to become the top. He heard saying and poems about the loneliness of invincibility, but he never believed. He always thought that with money, fame, and power, he can live as happy as he can be. But he was wrong. So wrong. A tall tree with getting knocked down by the wind. Knowing they can't touch him, they target his friends. His family. His loved ones. And now he stands at the top, but full of regrets.

Each and every day, he had to watch his back least he died without knowing how. He doesn't know who's fake or real anymore. And at night, he can no longer peacefully sleep without fearing that he'll die in his sleep.

He looked at the young girl and couldn't help but be amazed. If only he had understood this when he was as young as her.

"It looks like this old man can rest easy knowing that the Glass Pagoda is in your hands" , he sighed in satisfaction. "Take care of it for me, Little girl."

And the last thing Xi Rin saw was the soft smile on the elder's face before everything turned black.

Seeing her sleeping peacefully, he smiled gently before pulling out of thin air, a glowing object. If one looks closely, they can see that the glowing object was a pagoda. A glass pagoda to be exact. As the light passes through, the glass would be coloured in multiple hues, giving it a beautiful yet wondrous look. In the pitch darkness, it would astonish all who see it.

However, the old man regards the object in familiarity. This very pagoda was something he created with his blood, sweat, and tears. A lifetime friend. It had been with him from the very start to the bitter end. Even now, he stills remember the time when this treasure used to be nothing but a piece of glass. A broken part of an ancient treasure. It was just something he would play around with when he's bored. And soon, under his constant attention and developments, he turned the glass piece into to a God-Class treasure. He stored his life into the Glass Pagoda. All his life treasures, his legacy, he stores into here in hopes that one day, someone can use it to change the world. Change it in ways he couldn't. And not to commit the very same mistakes he made.

But now, he was nothing more than a pile of bones. The him now is nothing but just a mere soul fragment that was left to protect the pagoda.

"Little girl, use it well." Then the Pagoda flew from his hand to her body before disappearing completely into her body like it's being absorbed.

Then, his eyes turned cold. "Aki. Have you taken care of the rats yet?"
