Serena, who safely arrived at the Capital under the escort of the Banfield Family’s fleet, immediately visited the Prime Minister who was working in the palace.

The Prime Minister dismissed his subordinates so that the two can be alone in the office.

“—So they knew what you were up to.”

“Yes. After all, the Banfield Family’s Black Ops is nothing to scoff at. They’ve inherited the techniques of those acting behind the scenes in the Capital.”

Kukuri and his men were descendants of those that once served the imperial family in the dark.

The Prime Minister was convinced by Serena’s explanation.

“I guess that much is to be expected of a family that thwarted the plans of His Highness Linus and His Highness Calvin. Was it out of kindness that he let you leave?”

Serena shook her head at the Prime Minister’s question.

“It’s likely his way of indicating that he’s cutting off ties. The Duke has been consistently expanding his military forces. Although he suffered a great setback during the war with the Kingdom of Dominion a few years ago, they have almost fully recovered from it.”

Serena projected the information she had gathered until now before the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister narrowed his eyes upon seeing the data displayed in the air.

“—This much rare metal isn’t something that’s obtainable with just a few satellite planets. They must have something up their sleeves, much like the Berkeley Family that has been destroyed.”

The numbers displayed before him were unreal. Thus, the Prime Minister concluded that Liam must have some special item aiding him.

However, this wasn’t enough for the Prime Minister to lose his composure.

Serena continued with her report.

“Based on all the information that we’ve gathered, we can confidently say that the Banfield Family intends to rebel. If we continue to remain passive, the Banfield Family will amass an even stronger army and bare its fangs at the Empire.”

Having battled against the Kingdom of Dominion, the Banfield Family’s army had been baptized in blood.

Serena, who knew what this implied, suggested moving forward with extra caution.

The Prime Minister’s expression soured.

“I agree with your statement, and I’ve already advised His Majesty and the Crown Prince that any further deterioration in relationship could have devastating consequences for both parties.”

“Then does the Empire plan on improving its relationship with the Banfield Family?”

Serena’s expression softened a little, believing that the Empire had finally switched its stance and was planning on acknowledging the Banfield Family.

Having served the Banfield Family for nearly a century, she had developed some feelings for the household.

However, the Prime Minister immediately denied this notion.

“If only that was the case. —The Empire intends to destroy the Banfield Family, even if that means laying waste to the territory and reducing it to ashes.”

“But how could that be!?”

The Prime Minister then asked Serena, who was shocked that the Empire would go this far, how Liam was doing.

“Unfortunately, that’s how it is. The imperial family is also curious about the Duke’s condition. Is it true that he sustained a grave injury during the battle against the Kingdom of Dominion?”

Are the rumors true?

Serena responded truthfully, as she had no choice but to do so as the Prime Minster’s spy.

“—It seems that the battle took a toll on his body, and he’s suffered a deep wound in his heart. While he’s receiving treatment, it doesn’t appear to be very effective.”

Considering Liam’s position, there was no reason for him not to receive treatment.

The Prime Minster nodded, imagining how fierce the battle with the kingdom must have been.

“After all, the Kingdom’s forces have plagued the Empire for hundreds of years. As valiant and heroic as the Duke may be for invading its capital, the price he paid must have been great.”

Even though Liam was a hero, he had to throw everything at the Kingdom, and even then, he was only able to achieve a narrow victory.

Such was the conclusion that the Prime Minister arrived at.

Why am I here?

I’ve only been here once before, but I can still vividly recall the outline of the Kingdom of Dominion’s throne room.

A place that’s reminiscent of the Parthenon of ancient Greece.

Before me stands a tall, muscular man, the ruler of the Kingdom of Dominion and the one feared as the Overlord.

Yet such an individual is blushing and writhing as if he’s a maiden in love, a scene which is strangely terrifying.

But the real terror starts here.

“I wish to give birth to your child.”

—A man among men!

That’s the kind of impression the Overlord gives, so I never expected him to utter such words.

To begin with, who would’ve thought I’d be confessed to in this manner?

I burst into cold sweat and let out a scream.

“NOOOOOOOOO!!”

My pathetic scream rings across the throne room.

“NOOOOOOOOO!!”

I leap up from bed, raise my upper body, and scan my surroundings.

I’m in a familiar room, surrounded by familiar furniture.

My heart is racing, and I can clearly hear its thumps. Not only that, I’m covered in sweat, leaving me in a sorry state.

I wipe the sweat from my forehead as Rosetta, who should’ve been asleep next to me, hands me a cup of water.

“Darling, you seemed to be in pain again. Here, have some water.”

“—Yeah.”

I receive the cup from Rosetta and quickly drink it all in one go. Only then do I regain my composure.

What a terrifying dream that was.

Even though I’ve returned triumphant from the Kingdom of Dominion, the Overlord haunts me in my dreams to this day.

“That hateful man.”

Despite my victory, he’s somehow managed to leave a deep scar in my heart.

Rosetta hugs and comforts me as she sits down beside me.

“It’s alright, Darling. It’s alright.”

Seeing the glistening tears in the corners of her eyes, I feel slightly guilty.

I’ve only told Amagi about the nightmare, the nightmare where the Overlord haunts me.

It’s embarrassing to admit that I’ve been having nightmares because of the Overlord’s confession, so I haven’t told others about it.

As a result, Rosetta and the others are under the impression that I’m feeling unwell due to how intense the war with the Kingdom was.

But this is simply not true.

The army did suffer great losses, but I have never doubted my victory.

And yet, I’m frightened of the Overlord.

—How pathetic of me.

“I’ll never forgive that bastard.”

Never has there been an individual that’s managed to push me this far.

The Empire’s Capital.

Two seven-colored drinks had been prepared and placed on a table in the center of the huge audience hall.

Sitting across the small table were Emperor [Bagrada] and Crown Prince [Cleo].

Cleo savored the various flavors that entered her mouth through the straw as she sipped on the seven-colored drink.

For a moment, it tasted like sweets and tea, but as she swallowed, the sweetness faded, replaced by a refreshing, cool sensation.

It was a very strange drink, but the two of them were used to drinking it and didn’t seem to mind at all.

Bagrada smiled as he talked about the drink.

“I’ve been drinking nothing but this as of late. Not only can I enjoy a variety of flavors, but it also has all the necessary nutrients.”

Cleo gave a troubled smile when she heard this.

“But I hear it’s a cheap drink that commoners like to have.”

“I’ve been getting tired of luxuries. This is just right.”

The parent-child ended their conversation here as they got down to business.

Bagrada informed Cleo about what he had heard from the Prime Minister.

“Several years have passed since the war with the Kingdom of Dominion. It seems Duke Banfield has yet to recover from the wounds he received during the war.”

Cleo’s face twisted into a cruel grin as Bagrada gleefully delivered this news.

“What marvelous news. I guess even Liam couldn’t escape scot-free after clashing with the Overlord.”

“It’s to be expected. We’re talking about a kingdom that’s plagued the Empire for many years. —Now then, I think it’s time we get serious.”

Bagrada finished his seven-colored drink and placed the empty cup on the table as he said this.

Simultaneously, information about those that were close to the Banfield Family was displayed around them.

Eliot of the Clave Company. Patrice of the Newlands. The Third and Seventh Weapons Factories.

Even the hotel that Liam liked to use as his base in the Capital was included on the list.

Cleo glanced at them and placed her hand on her chin.

“We’re going to expel them from the Capital, right? But isn’t it a waste to include the Third Weapons Factory as well? Their products are extremely popular in the Empire.”

Bagrada shrugged when Cleo suggested that they keep the Third Weapons Factory.

“Unfortunately, they’re too close with the Banfield Family. What’s more, I was asked to have them expelled by the other weapons factories. Many wishes for the Third Weapons Factory to disappear.”

From the perspective of the other weapons factories that rivaled the third, the expulsion of the Third Weapons Factory was considered great news.

Thus, several people had gathered and petitioned to have Bagrada expel the Third Weapons Factory.

Cleo gave a slight nod.

“Then it can’t be helped.”

“A different factory would soon take its place. Besides, we need the Third and Seventh Weapons Factories to work hard for the Banfield Family.”

“I still can’t believe that the Prime Minister is suggesting to have them assist the enemies.”

Bagrada chuckled as he watched Cleo express her bewilderment.

The Emperor seemed to be taking this situation rather lightly.

Or rather—

“It’s more fun this way, don’t you agree? As for the Empire, we’ll be having the other weapons factories operate at full capacity so that they can mass-produce weapons. —The Imperial Army’s arsenal would also be put to full use.”

While the weapons factories were semi-governmental organizations, the arsenal was a military organization managed solely by the Imperial Army.

It collected data from all weapons factories and manufactured weapons for the Imperial Army.

What was worth noting was that only the most elite fleets were allowed to operate the weapons manufactured by the arsenal.

Cleo made an appeal to Bagrada.

“Please let me be the commander-in-chief of the subjugation force. I promise to deliver victory to the Empire.”

Even Liam, who had become one of the most powerful nobles of the Empire, would stand no chance against the entirety of the Empire. Cleo was volunteering to be the commander-in-chief for that very reason.

Bagrada nodded, granting Cleo’s wish with an eerie smile on his face.

“Very well. But the actual command would be left to someone else.”

Cleo had no choice but to agree to these terms.

Although she had received military education through the capsule, she had no real experience in the field.

She knew very well that it would be extremely risky for her to take command of a multi-million fleet.

“Thank you. In that case, who will actually be in command? A general from the Imperial Army?”

Bagrada answered after giving it a little thought.

“How about Marquis Hampson? He’s an aristocrat in charge of protecting the borders, so he should have a lot of experience in war. Furthermore, he’s not afraid to commit evil deeds, just the right person to raze the Banfield Family to the ground.”

From a pool of competent nobles, Bagrada chose the one with the nastiest personality.

He then announced that he would also dispatch a renowned fleet.

“Let’s have Cosmo’s fleet join as well. I’m sure he’ll be thrilled to participate in this war with his friends.”

Upon hearing the name Cosmo, a certain person’s image flashed through Cleo’s mind.

“Admiral Cosmo of the Special Tasks Fleet? Indeed, since he’s a former space pirate, it would be the utmost humiliation for Liam to be defeated by such an individual.”

As if to recall something, Bagrada suggested adding another person to the fleet.

“Right, we should also have Viscount Toraido join in on the fun. Just like the Duke, he’s a bundle of ambition, so I’m sure he’ll be more than happy to tag along. —Oh, and would you like to have Dustin as well?”

“—Sword Saint Dustin? But if he’s defeated by One Flash, the Empire won’t have any more Sword Saints.”

Dustin was the last remaining Sword Saint of the Empire.

Hence, the Empire had been trying to avoid a clash with the Banfield Family.

But this time, the Emperor insisted on having him participate.

“Since we’ve nominated him as a Sword Saint, it’s time he pays us back. I’ll leave them to you, Cleo.”

Cleo, who had just been put in charge of a group of top-tier individuals, broke into a cold sweat and smiled.

“I promise to bring back victory.”

(If I lose, I’ll no doubt be stripped of my position as Crown Prince.)

It was a battle he couldn’t afford to lose. —And to begin with, it was a battle where victory was all but assured.

Cleo asked Bagrada one final question.

“When shall we strike?”

“Taking into account the time it takes to prepare, let’s say ten years. —I’m sure it’ll pass by in the blink of an eye.”

Cleo had mixed feelings about Bagrada’s ten-year preparational period. It felt long, but too short at the same time as they were up against Liam.

(Ten years. In ten years, I shall defeat Liam!)

Brian (´;ω;`): “It hurts. My ex-colleague turned out to be a spy.”

Wakagi-chan ( ‘д‘⊂彡☆))ω;`) パーン: “It hurts!?”

Wakagi-chan 。・゜・(ノД`)・゜・。: “Sorry for being late, everyone! Did you miss me? By the way, this is going to be a spoiler for the anime, and I’m sure many of you have already vaguely figured it out, but yes, I won’t be appearing in the anime.”

Wakagi-chan (/ω・\): “I know that it’s sad news, but don’t go terrorizing the community, demanding that they ‘Let Naegi-chan appear!’ mkay? I’m being serious here!”

Wakagi-chan ( ゜∀゜): “Now that that’s out of the way, it’s happy promotion time! Volume 8 of the manga for ‘The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs’ is scheduled to be released on May 9th. Please show it much love!”

Brian (´;ω;`): “It’s painful, in a variety of ways. —Oh, and as previously mentioned, please don’t make a fuss about this plant in different places.”
