Chapter 29: Being Hunted

Should I go?

In fact, I am a very selfish wolf. From the bottom of my heart, I really did not want to go.

In my opinion, going head on against the Ice Dragon Mercenary Group was the same as going to die.

Unless it was with Big White’s platoon.

But would that be likely?

Even Miki was issuing a distress signal.

Suddenly, Miki’s distress call sounded again.

Looking at the System, it was as if I was being possessed by some sort of evil spirit which used my foot to subconsciously press on the two words labeled “Receive Mission”.

After pressing it, the page displayed itself: “Mission Accepted.”

My heart became cold, very cold.

It wasn’t because I wanted to save Miki! Although I do have some affection towards her, it was just because I owed her and had been enticed by the Mission Reward from the System.

That’s right, sometimes you make some choices when you have to, and when you look back after a period of time has passed, you come to regret a lot of it and feel as if your head back then must have been kicked by a donkey.

If I had the chance to choose again, I would definitely not have pressed the “Receive Mission”.

Turning around, I used Gale to run. Miki wasn’t far from me, but when I saw them from the distance, there were already more than ten snow wolves lying in their own pool of blood.

The new team that Miki had joined have two hundred members in it and only a few more than ten of them had died. In theory, there were still a few lives that could be spent.

Miki stood at the edges of the team and was being besieged by the Ice Dragon Mercenary Group members. I looked on from the distance as the Ice Dragon Mercenary Group’s leader, that insolent big guy was carrying a two meter long sword and the **** of the Great Snow Day on his shoulder, revealing bulging muscles to the world. With his full beard, after taking one look at this guy people could tell that he was not a well-read person.

By his side was the vice leader who I was very familiar with, along with that old man dressed in a black robe and a young man who was dressed entirely in white fur.

These four experts have not moved at all, and that young complacent man kept trying to present something to the leader.

What made me feel the most dread were the more than ten archers in the mercenary group who were distantly holding their bows as countless ear-piercing “swishing” sounds of arrows suffused with cyan light came penetrated the snow wolves body.

The snow wolves wanted to break out of the enclosure, but they would be beaten dizzy by the Acquired Seventh Level experts that held shields on the side.

The strongest within the snow wolf platoon would also be an Acquired Seventh Level snow wolf, so how could they possibly break the enclosure?

Just based on their strength they were already clearly at a disadvantage.

In the daytime, I was somewhat timid of confronting the Ice Dragon Mercenary group in this kind of battle formation.

Although I don’t really want to admit it, I have a fear of dying.

Just as I was hesitating, Miki suddenly saw me and happily shouted at me. When the snow wolves by her side heard this joyful voice, they believed that a rescue team had arrived and turned their sight to me.

Discovering that I was the only one, their original hopeful eyes once again dimmed.

With the snow wolves movement, the mercenary group would naturally take notice of it. Some of the members tried to turn around to see what was causing the disturbance among the snow wolf race.

In the daytime, my gray fur was very eye catching within this expanse of white snow, just like the moon stood out within the night. Trying to be overlooked by people would prove difficult.

Furthermore, I was even their old acquaintance.

After being sneak attacked twice, twenty to thirty of their members had been killed by a grey wolf-type demon beast, in this white snowfield, there was only one of them, and none other.

The mercenary group became restless.

I had killed so many of them that once I appeared, it was like I was equipped with a God Level taunting ability.

The mercenary group was very united. On missions out in the wilderness, they would entrust their lives to their companions. Those people I’d killed were all people who had survived life and death situations with them.

Even the vice leader was staring at me with eyes full of hatred.

Needless to say, Miki’s specialty was to dig a hole for her teammates.

Opening my mouth, a two-meter wide Black Iced Edge flew straight towards the face of the leader of the mercenary group together with the sound of wind. It flew up to three hundred meters before being blocked by the head.

Your mom! Since I’ve already been discovered, I might as well just taunt him some more.

The leader grabbed my Ice Edge with one hand, and directly crushed it.

It was a bit far so the damage ability of the Ice Edge was almost gone. But that had been simply too cool! If only he looked a bit more handsome and wasn’t so oppressing, his mercenary group might have found some more female mercenaries. They would surely have been able to welcome some girls to cheer for them.

Lord Leader waved a finger in my direction and the formation that had trapped the snow wolves immediately fell apart as a large group of people came heading in my direction.

Far away, I could hear them say “Kill it, it’s that demon beast that’s been attacking us through the night”, “Kill it and take revenge for my big bro” and that kind of talk.

Even the leader of the mercenary group and another Acquired Ninth Level guy came over and within the blink of an eye they were closer to me by two hundred meters.

Without the mercenary’s encirclement, the snow wolves immediate fled in the opposite direction as if they had just greased their feet. Miki could only turn around to look at me once before being taken away by the other snow wolves.

I wanted to say, could you guys come over and help a little?

Their ability of selling their kin was certainly first-class.

Facing two Acquired Ninth Level as well as the over a hundred people trailing behind, I didn’t even need to think and used Gale to flee. My Gale was already level six, I have confidence in shaking them off.

“Wind God Flash!” I heard a hoarse voice from behind.

A cyan shadow went neck and neck with me.

“You bastard! Stop!” I recognize him as one of the other old man that was Acquired Ninth Level, “Killing Wind!”

With a wave of the old man’s long sword, ten cyan sword qi shrouded me. I twisted left a bit but was still hit by four of the sword qi. Three of the sword qi hit my back while one streaked across my rear leg. The sword qi was still enough to injure me to the bone, even with my Wolf God’s Golden Body protecting me.

My speed rapidly decreased.

“This bastard’s skin is really thick!” The old man exclaimed.

As a grand individual who is about to become an expert under heaven, not being able to cleave me in half was still considered pretty weak.

The old man’s “Wind God Flash” should be a high-speed movement skill. That was because after he had used it, his speed suddenly fell. But even like that, his speed was still about the same as mine. Just by using one martial skill, he was able to tail me closely.

Being seriously injured, if I continued to run like this, the one who would die would definitely be me.

There was still another Acquired Ninth Level expert around three hundred meters behind us, and another group of mercenaries roughly five hundred meters away.

This father really doesn’t want to die.

Suddenly, I saw from afar that forest that caused me to feel fear.

Thinking about those small insects, I still thought that this sword-wielding old man could be considered a bit more cute.

However, for a chance at life, I didn’t even think about it anymore and directly ran into that forest.

Getting into the forest, the woods was just as quiet as when I first came. But I was very clear about what kind of frightening little organisms that were living here in the snow.

Little insects that not even my second stage Wolf God’s Golden Body could resist.

In the forest, I relied on the trees to stall some time for me. In the forests, the wind-type old man clearly isn’t running faster than me since I frequently run and practice in the forests.

“Try running now!” The mercenary group’s leader said as he grabbed his large sword, “I, your father, will definitely kill you, and then I will hang you up so that you can become dried rations for all my brothers to eat!”

I really wanted to tell them that my meat wasn’t tasty, and it also had a foul smell to it.
