The cold wind sliced into my cheeks.
The uncomfortable dress curled around my raised ankle.
Thinking that I might really lose my footing if I wasn't careful, I placed my other foot on top of the railing.
Indeed, looking down from the high railing wasn't an easy task.
The moment I bent my knees as I was about to sit, someone roughly pulled my arms.
“Ha.”
The face of the person who had been avoiding me for so long finally showed up before my eyes.
As the distance from the other person unintentionally became closer to me, I smelled a sweet and fresh floral scent.
It was a scent I had never smelled all this time.
I was sick with the sweet scent that was enough to make me grimace.
At the same time, the luxurious cuffs on the shirt entered my sight.
There was no way he bought them himself, but it was surprising that he wore it without protesting.
Well, there have been one or two surprising things lately . . .
Massaging my sore arms, I said, “You finally came, Professor Ardin.”
“You must have been occupied with your work.”
I was grumpy for no reason because of his calm face.
I was frustrated on the inside for days, so why does this person look fine?
While I was thinking so, he slowly closed the window.
He even double-covered and locked it.
I was dumbfounded by his treating me like someone who really planned to jump.
“I believe you've already known, but it's not my taste to jump from a railing.”
I much preferred an ending where I would only stop breathing when I was sleeping peacefully.
He tilted his head sharply.
“I thought that was the case because you have the taste to barehandly face a man with a sword.”
His being shameless enough to blame me in this situation really surprised me.
Rather than I, who only talked back to Samuel Bolton, Zen, who directly sent magic at him, was worse.
“Ah, so you know that I have that kind of taste. Wonderful. Yet I never heard that my close friend, who was out of touch, would become a lecturer in the academy.”
“Why did you call?”
After slightly loosening his perfectly tied necktie, he went straight to the topic.
The night was short and another day would be waiting tomorrow, so I asked right away.
“Did something happen to Rocke Guild? Or will something happen?”
As I always received information through Rany, I was in the dark about things she wanted to hide.
Perhaps, Zen and Bertin wouldn't be as ignorant as me.
When I looked up and watched him in detail, his dark green eyes avoided me.
Should I be glad that he wasn't very skillful at hiding things from me?
Suddenly, I realized his eyes were high up enough that I had to look up for our eyes to meet.
I hadn't needed to raise my chin to look at his eyes until a few months ago.
Once again, I was unfamiliar with the growth of his height compared to his emaciated face.
“Are you thinking of never talking with me again?”
“It's impossible for you to make a move anyway. It's dangerous.”
It was certainly comfortable to make use of Miller's name, but on the contrary, there were also parts that stopped me.
Surely, I had no plans to move recklessly, becoming a gossip topic and even staining my family's name in the process.
Still, it was more unacceptable to stay low and neglect a friend who was in trouble because of me.
“If you won't tell me, then I will have to find out for myself.”
As I distanced myself a bit, his face looked more clear.
In a sense, he was troubled. It could be seen by the way his eyebrows were slightly up.
“Who will take responsibility if things become complicated if I move alone?”
The eyes that kept avoiding me finally looked at me.
Although he looked placid, he must have busily wracked his brain.
However, as always, it was impossible for Zen to win against me.
“At least tell me who, what, and how they will move.”
The guy who stubbornly stayed silent, talked.
“What will you do with that?”
“It's easier for me to move inside the academy than you.”
I also had people under me, although I didn't want that.
Hearing my answer, Zen heaved a short sigh.
Looking at him, I then wet my throat with the water on the table, and asked.
“Do you want to go out? We often had night outings before, right?
“Busy?”
The guy, who was looking at me as if thinking about something, checked the time.
He glanced at the tightly closed door and then reached out his hand.
The hand that I caught without hesitating was cold.
Unlike the atmosphere of the busy mansion in the early morning, my mind was hazy.
As expected, sleep is important.
I finished preparations in a hurry and was on my way to the academy, but because I was lacking sleep, my head was dizzy.
As I got off the carriage while massaging my temples, gazes latched on me as usual.
Except for the fact that the gazes that should be more intense than usual quickly left me.
I quietly spoke to Abigail, who quickly approached me.
“Tell me.”
Rany's seat was still empty.
I knew that she would come rather late before the class started, so I intentionally came earlier.
