“Stop buttering me up.” She laughed, her gaze returning to the view outside. This spaceship had been custom-modified by her; unlike ordinary ships that used simulated views, she had replaced the glass with a completely transparent material, allowing for a clearer perspective of the cosmos.

“Mom, you used to paint in the virtual world, right? Why do you spend so much time in reality now?” Xu Jingming inquired.

“What's virtual is ultimately virtual; it can't compare to reality,” she answered.

Surprised, he asked, “Can you really tell the difference between the virtual world and the outside universe?”

The virtual world network, a legacy of the scientific lineage, boasted an incredibly high degree of replication. It was nearly impossible for even a Level 10 Origin lifeform to distinguish the difference based on the scenery alone.

“Me? Oh, I have a multitude of hobbies.” Mrs. Xu's enthusiasm bubbled over. “Earth boasts a vast array of delicacies, and there's no shortage of gourmet dishes throughout the entire cosmic human race. As you may recall, I used to cook at home. I've always been passionate about cooking… I learned to prepare all sorts of delicious dishes. There's a special satisfaction that comes from creating and savoring my own culinary masterpieces, which is unlike anything experienced when eating food prepared by others.”

“Additionally, I've founded an artists alliance. We often gather to paint together and even auction off some of our creations…” Mrs. Xu continued, as Xu Jingming listened with an indulgent smile.

Even after becoming an Origin lifeform through external forces, he never abandoned his passion for the Eight Extremities.

“Why are you here?” she asked with a smile.

“How has your time at the Academy of Sciences been?” Xu Jingming inquired.

“Having been elevated to a Level 10 Origin lifeform through external forces, my brain's capacity allows me to easily be an assistant,” Li Miaomiao replied, grinning. “I haven't disrupted the Academy's operations.”

Xu Jingming was unconcerned.

The importance of the scientific lineage to the human race had diminished. Once focused on optimizing forbidden weapons, it had been replaced by Xu Jingming, capable of crushing the Five Demons Planet, as the core foundation of humanity.

Following the acquisition of the third-realm legacy, the dean and others abandoned the incomplete scientific lineage, concentrating on their legacies in hopes of reaching a half-step third realm someday.

Li Miaomiao looked at her husband, her expression complex. “I want to understand high-dimensional powers from different angles, even entertaining the unlikely hope of mastering them and becoming a high-dimensional lifeform one day. I know the chances are slim.”

“But there's no hope without trying. If you try, there's always a possibility,” Li Miaomiao said, smiling. “For instance, didn't I become a cosmic lifeform while concentrating on sword techniques?”

Xu Jingming tenderly embraced his wife.

Li Miaomiao remarked softly, “When I saw so many of my peers and descendants pass away, I couldn't help but think of myself. I yearn for more time with you, which is why I delved into the study of high-dimensional powers. Yet, reason reminds me… it's impossible for a low-dimensional lifeform like me to carry on once my time comes to an end.”
