Chapter 2: No-where now

When I woke up, I saw myself in a room with several beds, similar to a hospital. I was surprised to find myself in a place that was not in ruins since I had not seen a decorated interior for a long time, it was so long that I did not even remember one. But after appreciating the place for a moment, I came into memory and remembered that I was recently struggling and full of wounds, just as I fainted after walking

–You woke up...–I heard a female voice, coming from my left, I stood up and managed to see more accurately who it was. The woman seemed to be 20 or more years old, she had a well formed and feminine body, she had blonde and curly hair which bangs covered her right eye, while the other one had a navy blue color, she had a black dress which reached her knees and over it some kind of soft cloth cloath, she seemed kind, someone I could consider an ally, probably. It didn't take her long to smile when she saw me awake

–Where am I...?–I asked her and managed to realize that my wounds had been treated, so that I hardly felt any pain, –Did you heal me?

–I saw you and your friend lying in an alley, I picked you up before the rats did. I brought you both to my house, and treated your wounds. How do you feel? -She sat down on my bed next to me and asked me with some concern

–Thanks to you I am better. But still my wounds are very deep and I'm surprised that I'm okay–I answered her, but as I listened to her story, I realized that the boy who had helped me before was also here–How is the boy next to me?

–He's still breathing. His wounds are quite serious, if I didn't get there in time he would probably be dead.

–I see...

–Hey, for a bringer you're pretty outrageous–She said to me with a smile and upon hearing these words, I couldn't help but become alert, I was beginning to doubt her having knowledge of my being, and having it, she could be working for the Slayers.

–Wait a minute... How do you know I'm a bringer, and what do you mean by outrageous...?

–Well, a few streets away, a building was burning to the ground with some kind of blue fire, obviously that could only be the work of a bringer. And when I got to the place I followed a trail of blood that started at the building and found you two, then I saw your eyes and managed to see that your eyes are like bringer's eyes

–If you know we are bringers, why are you helping us?–I asked her and the woman lowered her gaze in a nostalgic feeling dissmiluating with a smile that was expressed while she hid her eyes with her hand, and answered me.

–You see, my father was a bringer...–the girl pushed aside the hair that covered her right eye and the same unlike the other, would be of a crimson red color with some traces of magneta color–I don't have powers like you, or like the most of the bringers wich normally have some supernatural abilities excepting for me. But this eye bothered me for all my childhood and for the rest of my life until now. My father fell in love with a human, but they didn't even manage to marry, but they had me. But when "The Purge" began, he was killed at the hands of a Slayer, the most terrifying Admiral. That's why I now help bringers in trouble. After all, they accepted me, unlike humans...

–Wait... The purge? What do you mean?–I was intrigued by that, apparently, some kind of event related to the bringers had happened recently and I hadn't noticed it, it could even be the beginning of the hunt for bringers... My past was getting more and more blurred

–Well, 30 years ago, bringers were news everywhere, but still, little attention was given to them other than news about their rarity and they were believed to be the new human evolution. But, 10 years later, a bringer unleashed Chaos in California, in Los Angeles, right here. The bringer destroyed buildings with his ability, massacred people and spread terror. But worst of all, Human X-odus, the company just founded years ago, took matters into its own hands and declared the bringers public enemies of mankind, and the extermination began–I never knew of such an event, although my past still seems uncertain, it seemed to have happened before I was born. And I just realized that I didn't even know my age, had I let time pass so quickly? It seemed so, and the helplessness of not knowing who is reflected in your mirror is indescribable.

–I see... At least I'm glad to know that you're on our side... Hey, what's your name?–I looked at the window where I could appreciate the beauty of the city at night, which made it clear to me that I had slept for a long time since the day had already passed and that the house was a floor of a hotel, quite elevated in fact.

–Alyssa Cavalier

–I am Naoto

–Nice to meet you Naoto–she said with a warm and friendly smile. At that precise moment, she could observe how the other boy opened his eyes slightly and then got up with a bang, as if he was scared or dismayed by something.

–I'm alive...–muttered the boy as he looked at his hands in amazement. Then he looked around the room in confusion–Where am I? What happened to the Admiral?–he said in confusion and stared at me as if waiting for an answer.

–You woke up–I said, it didn't seem to be the answer he wanted, so he continued asking.

–How come we are here? What happened?–confused by the situation he was looking for answers.

–I found you lying in a dark alley, apparently your friend carried you all the way–Alyssa turned to the boy and said with a kind tone.

–You...–the boy lowered his eyes hiding his emotions but I could see his anger in his words, in his fist clenched in anger, in his stern and unforgivable tone–I told you to leave and you still decided to carry me? You could have died, asshole-he got up from the bed and approached mine, with a notorious anger reflected in his face.

–Don't be an idiot–I answered–You saved me first, I had to return the favor, besides, did you think you could die when you went to save me?–I answered calmly and the boy calmed down instantly.

–Ngh...!–he let out a choked scream, he was trying to hold back from screaming because of the pain. He placed his hand on his stomach, apparently this area of his body had not healed completely. The boy stepped back and sat on his bed.

–Be careful, your wounds are the most serious, they are still not completely healed–said Alyssa worried about him, more than anything else it seemed that it was because his treatment had not worked.

–I'm fine–the boy answered and then turned to me–What happened to the Almirant?–he asked.

–There's no need to worry about him anymore, I finished him–I answered and proceeded to get up from my bed and picked up my clothes, I had the need to leave the place because soon a search against us could start by the police or the Slayers in the worst case.

–Did you finish him off by yourself? That's impossible...–the boy didn't believe half of my words, so I decided I had to show him or just ignore him. In a timely manner, on the TV, the news program came on with a surprise. They reported that the building he had burned had been spotted by some people passing by that abandoned place. They found the Admiral's weapons that I did not manage to burn and the remains of my power. They immediately knew that it was a Bringer who had murdered an Admiral, so they now gave an order to search the places near the incident. I now had a squad of Slayers after me.

–Did you do that?–the confused boy asked me as he saw the news.

–Unfortunately yes, now these people are after me, I must hurry and get out of here–I said while I finished gathering my things, I grabbed the katana I used to kill the Admiral and I was about to leave, when the girl grabbed my shoulder, stopping my walk.

–Be careful Naoto–she said and I turned to answer her by moving her hand from my shoulder.

–You should also get out of here, if they find out what you are doing you could end up dead.

–If I will die, then I am glad to know that in the time I lived, I did good deeds, to help others, I am not afraid to die if it is for a good cause–she said, she answered confident and willing, she did not hesitate to say those words, which made my blood boil, I could not stand the idea that even in this world, someone could think in such a naive way.

–What's the use of dying for others? Do you think that by doing good in your life, you will be rewarded in your death? No one will give you anything, you will simply die for no reason and your memory will be lost in oblivion. After death there is nothing, fight to survive and don't waste your life in vain. This is not the time to think of others–I said and turned to leave while she thought about my words and fell into silence, when I heard a childish voice coming from a nearby place, which made me stop.

–Alyssa...? Who are they?–asked a boy, I looked at him and I could see him better, he had dark black hair and bright purple eyes, he was about four years old and his clothes were very childish and peculiar, although they were a little big, they were a white coat and black pants, he was looking at us while holding a teddy bear in his hand.

The little boy seemed to be hiding from us behind the wall of a room next to ours, it could be supposed that he was just shy.

–Calm down Jin, they are not bad, come here–said Alyssa to the little one and he approached little by little while he looked at me and the other boy, when he did it, I could notice in his eyes that he was a Bringer, looking attentively at his eyes, they were quite similar to those of the nobleman. I was filled with worry about what might happen to that boy if the authorities found him. The little boy sat on Alyssa's lap and began to play with his stuffed animal, calming down instantly.

–Hey you, let's go–I turned to the other boy and kept waiting for him on the balcony to leave the place.

–My name is Yuuki, stupid...–he said and then approached Alyssa and the boy.

–Thanks for taking care of us–I heard him talking to Alyssa from my position while I was watching the pile of cars on the street passing by from one side to the other

–Bye Jin–Yuuki approached the boy and smiled at him, he seemed to be quite empathic for a bringer, Jin raised his hand and answered him tenderly

–Goodbye!–Yuuki went to where I was and he said to me in a calmed tone

–Let's go–We both left that house because we knew that now we were not safe in any place, we jumped from the balcony to the roof and moving through the roofs we moved quickly.

–Alyssa, where do you think they are going?–Jin was leaning out of the balcony next to Alyssa, both of them were watching me and Yuuki running aimlessly.

–I don't know... I hope they are well–said Alyssa worried about both of them. Jin's childish and carefree face turned cold and serious, macabrely cutting, with an empty, penetrating look. He frivolously replied to Alyssa.

–I don't think so... They don't know yet. But at the end of their journey they will die
