A New Chapter

Kai could remember everything, only now did he regain all his memories. His parents, his friends, his siblings, and most importantly, his death. He could remember every detail and it was nauseating.



I was an 18-year-old high school student, I had decent grades and I was your average unassuming kid sitting at the back of the class. My hobbies include instigating people and attempting good ol' dark psychology in my class. I know, it sounds oddly weird and sadistic but hey, I enjoy it so what? (Wait who am I explaining this to anyway)



Anyways, now back to the topic of my death, some guy I'd spread rumors about came to confront me, Of course, I gave the usual "What did I do" with the usual finisher of the sad and submissive look.



Unfortunately, it didn't work, in contrast, the dude got even angrier, If I had to describe his face it was as red as a tomato. Now... what rumor did I spread? Ah, it was that he was a sadistic piece of trash that liked coercing women. Nothing major, right?



Well, he didn't think the same as he didn't hesitate to pull out an oddly sharp knife. My first thoughts were: How did the school let him bring that in? My second was: Why's there a knife sticking out of my belly? That's where I blacked out .



As Kai whimsically thought of that bloody scene, the scene suddenly became vivid in his mind, it was incredibly lifelike, unlike any memory Kai had ever experienced before. Every drop of blood, every spark, every splurt of blood, he could practically feel them all at once, in an instant, calling it nauseating would be an understatement.



It was as if his memories had been taken, saturated, and enhanced to 4k resolution, sped up to finish in an instant before being returned to him all at once. Kai felt like he was going to barf, only to find out he still couldn't feel his mouth. He didn't even seem to have a regular human body, based on what could observe.



He had somehow attained a 360 view of his surroundings, which wasn't a characteristic of the human eyes. From what he could see, all he could identify was that he was in an enclosed cave with water trickling down a fissure on one of the sides of the cave.



Kai could also vaguely look at himself, and he saw something that greatly shocked him. I'm a... rock? Kai thought as he stared at himself with a complicated gaze.



Well, I guess beggars can't be choosers. I mean I'll take it, it's better than being stuck in there for the rest of my life (death?) Kai thought.



Er.... status? menu? open status? system? system open? hello?? miss helper? any superintelligent AI in a system window there? Kai waited.. and waited... but nothing happened. Just the occasional sound of a drip of water falling from a stalactite.



Well, this could be a good thing, right? Maybe this means I didn't need some god or goddess to reincarnate me, I don't want to be tied down by someone I don't even know. I don't need some cheats to work myself up



...so what am I exactly? I know I'm currently some sort of rock, but I do seem to...glow a little bit, yea Glow seems appropriate. Kai thought as he tried to find anything special about his new form.



Kai had, since the moment he appeared in this new form, felt an unknown feeling deep inside his body. Like something was telling him to "tap" into it. As if telling him to activate something.



Kai tried to ignore this feeling, randomly doing something could result in an unfixable, permanent change, something he learned the hard way from his parents. However, this urge gradually increased in intensity, and in the end, Kai couldn't resist anymore.



I hope I don't explode or something...Kai thought as he "tapped" into that feeling.



Suddenly, a familiar warmth overcame his body, it was the same warmth he'd felt there. It washed over his body, though Kai was curious about how he could feel warmth when his body was a glowing rock. *Crack* Uh oh The rocky exterior of Kai's body started cracking. It started as small cracks, before quickly turning into large, deep gashes.



shit shit shit shit shit SHIT. Kai was panicking, he was panicking a lot. What will happen if my body breaks??? will I die? No! I don't want to go back there, FUCK, I just got out! More and more cracks appeared on the surface, before long, it looked like a severely deformed and cracked eggshell. STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STO-
