A heavily overworked businessman takes a nap on a bus headed to a corporate retreat. He awakens in a fantastic labyrinth city, immediately being informed that he has been reincarnated after dying in a bus accident and must work as a dungeon seeker. Confused, the former businessman heads to the registration point to get his job, only to be hit with two huge and horrible surprises: The first is that his pushy boss lady who had worked him to the point of collapse in his former life has also reincarnated here. The second his job received from registration is unknown and unreadable—no one will party with him and will treat him like an invalid if they find out this secret! He is forced to hire a sub-human mercenary to party with him, and things will only get worse from there as he is forced to confront the deadly nature of his new, reincarnated, occupation.

Chapter 1
World Strongest Rearguard - Labyrinth Country and Dungeon Seekers prologue

Before I noticed it, I was already facing an influx of men and women in the middle of a long & dark tunnel.

I was sure the last thing I remembered was that I had participated in a company retreat for a ski trip. As I was exhausted, I closed up my eyes in the company bus, planning to sleep till tomorrow morning. What is this situation, being transported to another unknown place before I was aware of my surroundings. I didn't even remember alighting the bus! This is definitely not good.

I heard someone's voice at the end of tunnel.   “Are you serious?” “We somehow came back to life..”   There was a woman guiding a row of people, looking forward. That behavior seemed familiar to me, and it was advancing the line smoothly.   Did the bus crash in an accident…? Were the people in that row already dead?   If there really was a world after death, it was comforting to know that death wasn't a useless void. Still, I didn't expect that I would die, because I had left behind quite a lot of regrets in my life.   No matter, the end of the tunnel might be hell, so it's better to think about it now. There is the possibility of this being a dream and it may be too quick for me to assume the worst case scenario.   There is also the flag that I was about to get married soon but it would still be ineffective even if I had survived. It would be pleasant, but the accident most likely happened in the snowy mountains. It was unlikely we were going to be rescued.

Some of the other employees who took part in the trip had also lined up in this queue like me. I noticed that I couldn't move my legs when I tried to stray away from the row. I could only move forward so I could not ascertain whether everyone were transported here.

I could see the back of my female manager quite far ahead in the queue. She was a workaholic, and a slave driver; a monster boss who had a younger age than me. While she came up with many company proposals, it was me who had to suffer and carry through her reckless decisions. Despite her hot-headed personality, it seems that she had no other choice but to line up like the others. Her pressure and superior pride still had not disappeared.

While thinking about various things, a girl in front of me who looked like a high-school student got something from a guide-like personnel, and walked ahead towards the direction pointed by the light at the end of the tunnel. That girl was most likely Yamato Riko. I saw her when I was boarding the bus; She was a petite girl with black hair. She was in the bus with a few friends but they had a contrasting girlish atmosphere around them, though that was all I could remember.   A woman wearing fantasy clothing that seemed like it came right off a game setting stood in front of my eyes. Her trimmed purple hair that reached the shoulders, and a short-sleeved shirt gave off a prim look. It did not look like a Japanese attire at all. She wore a beret-like hat which on closer inspection had a complicated pattern stitched on it, giving off the feel of a mage. She handed something to the people who lined up in the queue and sent them ahead. Her manner of talking was flaky and ecstatic.   “The next person, please come forward. Please take this Dungeon Seeker's Card and head to the guild over there first to decide your occupation. There is nothing else you should be doing before that.”   “W-wait a minute, could you explain how I got here?”   “This is the Country of Labyrinths. Your soul has been transported here and incarnated, so it is impossible to re-select your destination now.”   I still had things to ask, however the woman did not budge. It seemed like further explanation is impossible at the moment.   “Since I live in that town normally too when I am off my duty of guiding the reincarnation process, maybe we will meet again if there is chance.”

Did God or an angel send me here then? Well, I shelved the thought for now.

I received a sturdy card made of a leather-like material, and advanced towards the light ahead.
