Chapter 3 Gloomy Forest

I went to the village entrance and saw a lot of players there and some rabbits. The rabbits were very white, fluffy, and cute.However whenever they spawned a gang of players went and killed it before it even saw the sunlight. Nowadays people that cherished animals was rare.

It was clear that experience was hard to get here, however my destinations was the farmland. I ran for about 10 minutes before I spotted the farm’s crops.

I was not surprised finding the vole biting through corn stalks. The vole was a Level 1 Ordinary Beast.

I stealthily went up and swiped it with my sword and a small sound rang while a -10 rose above the vole’s head.

Then the vole bite me and dealt 5 damage.

No trouble, This thing should be Newbie Village’s most seen monster and if player’s couldn’t take care of it, how else would they level up.

After stabbing my sword down, the vole wailed not willing to die, and on the ground a small pile of copper coins appeared.

“Obtained 25 experience.”

My experience bar went up by 25%, seems like if I kill 4 I can level up.

After killing one, my health would be at 70 points, then I put away the coins, and then again killed another one.

Then target another vole, and with another swing and not too long later the vole would go see god and tell it died because of me. Then I would rest waiting for my health to go back up and continue killing voles with my sword.

After killing 4 more voles, a golden light flashed and I reached Level 2. I checked my status:

It seems that my health rises by 20, magic by 10, and I get 3 points to freely assign.

However my stats could still rise, I pointed to check.

Strength Proficiency: 0

Agility Proficiency: 0

Defence Proficiency: 0

Magic Proficiency: 0

Not bad, This is pretty interesting.But I don’t dare to allocate the 3 points randomly, I’ll just leave them until later.

I turned off the status window and continued to kill the voles, with several swings they would fall and die. The voles would fall to the ground, and in addition to experience and coins they would also drop pieces of clothing.

Not bad, This piece of equipment has Defence +1. If I put it on it would give me extra stats.If I used this it could supplement the amount of stats I have. I hurriedly put on the clothes, the voles won’t be any problem.

After killing a bit more the task menu popped up showing that I had completed the quest.I hurriedly went back without stopping and arrived in front of the Villager Chief and said: “The task is complete.”

Gold light flashed, and I leveled up again!

I asked the Village Chief: “How’s my equipment?”

The Village Chief said: “I’ll tell you this. Every piece of equipment has a grade. The grade determines if the equipment is good or not. The grades are white, blue, red, purple, green, silver, gold, orange, and finally dark gold. After that I don’t know if there is any more levels.

“So it’s like that, Thank you! Are there any other things that I could help with Village Chief.” I said.

The Village Chief said: “Have confidence, If you are willing to go to the gloomy forest  ,you can grow quickly. Are you willing?”

“Ding~! Would you like to accept the task: Explore the Gloomy Forest.”

I nodded and clicked the accept, and the Village Chief said: “Good! Brave child, here are some things for you. I hope you can rely on these things in the Gloomy Forest to stay the night. When you come back I will treat you to a feast.”

“Ding~! Received 1 Special Mantou and 10 Novice Health Potions, from Villager Chief.”

I put everything in order before bidding the Village Chief good bye and walked towards the Gloomy Forest.As I walked down the road a lot of the other players looked at me as I walked towards the forest, they all showed a weird facial expression as I passed, as if I was walking to my doom. I had a weird feeling seeing the gazes.

I continued towards the Gloomy Forest. After a while I saw packs of Stray Dogs in twos and threes.

I took out my sword and I swung at the nearest dog.

The number appeared above the dogs cruelly.The dogs were much stronger than the voles and soon after I was surrounded and attacked by 6 to 8 dogs. Luckily the dogs were only Level 2 monsters. They only had about 30 HP and was not hard to take care of.

Soon the first dog fell. I quickly ran over to the dead body and picked up the loot. I got 3 coins and a piece of fur. Dog Fur: Wild Dog fur used to make clothes.

After killing the dogs one by one I sat down to rest to let my HP return. Although it was slow, to save money and the medicine was precious, who knew when I would be able to get more in the Forest.

I stood up and continued to kill the monsters. I continued to kill until evening and finally got to Level 5. I killed the Level 2 monsters and I leveled up quickly. I didn’t even need to use the medicine at all and slowly rested to recover HP.

The moon had already come out. It was a new moon that hung over the sky. From time to time I heard wolf howls in the background.As I listened I saw a big person and a female player. I rushed over to see the big person brandish his hand out and in his hand was a big white sword, it hit the target in the head. My god! Such a strong hit. It chopped the black animal in half and the rest rolled out of the way growling and howling.

I saw that the black animal had been a wolf.

At the same time the big person continued to swing his sword. As he swung a wolf immediately pounced out and bit him.

The big person shouted out like a monster and with one fling threw the wolf away. Then three wolves rushed out of the darkness very fast.

I shouted out: “Be Careful!” Then stood up and rushed to the front.

Then I saw the air waver and a flaming red light flew across the sky and collide with the wolf that had pounced onto the big person.

The red fire was very powerful. The black wolf howled miserably, and with a strong impact it flew out and fell onto the ground.

The shot had come from the female player that was holding a red short bow. After shooting an arrow another one flew out of the bow.

After the arrow flew, I flew forward half a step behind it. With all my strength I hit one of the wolf’s on the head with my sword.

The wolf screamed and collapsed.

The big person joined me and picked up a lot off the pressure from the wolf. His hand swung the sword and the third wolf’s stomach opened up as it rolled and the intestines flowed out of its body.

At the same time 7 to 8 wolves appeared out of the darkness.

The three of us were startled.

I focused all my attention onto one of the wolves in front of me. All 7 or 8 wolves rushed out at once. There was no time for us to dodge. Then suddenly the wolves fell onto the ground.

At the time the big person had screamed as his sword disappeared into the air and a wolf bite into his throat.

“Cha Dage-” By his side the female player screamed loudly. I at the same time dodged out of the way of the three wolves that had aimed for my vitals. As his HP drained violently a strong power inside of his body flowed out like spring water. With a roar, the pressure that the wolves had given me disappeared. Then he turned over and his sword stuck into a wolf’s chrysanthemum. Blood sprayed onto my face and the wolf tragically howled as it’s chrysanthemum was burst apart and died.

[TL:This is how real men should do it ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)...btw if you don’t know what chrysanthemum is, it's somebody's asshole. So imagine that entering your rectum.]

“Wa-” With a tragic cry he was rushed by wolves again that pushed him onto the ground.

“Damn!”I cried out. Letting go of the sword he squeezed the wolf’s throat with his hands. Exhausting his body's strength a crisp sound could be heard as the wolf’s waist breaks off. Then he fiercely kicked the wolf in the stomach send it flying. It landed skewered to a tree branch that was as thick as a wrist.

With each wolf killed I gained 50 points of experience, and soon my experience bar was full again.

In the air arrows flew, with each arrow shot wolves would miserably cry out as they tumbled onto the ground.

After pulling a wolf’s corpse of my body to get up, I saw the female player with a calm face and cold eyes flashing as arrows shot. Not to far away there were 5 to 6 corpses, and the escaping wolves were also dying from her arrows.

I absentmindedly looked at the ground covered in corpse. Unexpectedly tonight I had bumped into a group of more than a dozen wolves .

I stood up and drank the potion while the big man cried out and the female player rushed over to him: “Do not go!” I clenched my fist as my face changed color and I hurriedly drew back.

I was terrified as my body grew tense and a cold wind blew across my back.
