Unique Legend Volume 13 extra

*No update next week, have to start doing my summer assignments…

Extra: Brotherly Love

Location: Atlantis Time: 7:09 PM

Rogeria, legend has it that the mere mention of the name would fill one with terror. Even the mafia needed to respect the 300% supreme assassin clan.

Ziray Rogeria was the fifth son of the current Rogeria assassin clan's leader. At the top is the main hall and below is the kitchen and some unkillable brothers, plus a bunch of separate assassin branches. But most likely due to the fact that he's the youngest among the brothers and doesn't have a lot of responsibilities, and the fact that the family is pretty close to him, it's still quite cozy for him up to now.

However, among that bunch and that bunch of fellows, there is one whom he can't handle the most—

“Little brother Ziray, did you enjoy your winter vacation?”

He came! Sure enough, he came again!

After saying goodbye to Chu Ming Yang by the cruise ship, Ziray and the black robe senior went back to the school together, and before the teleportation array's diagram disappeared, that very troublesome person immediately appeared.

“Julian.” Seeing him come, the black robe senior beside him gave a slight nod. Maybe because his body still wasn't well adjusted, he didn't chat much with that guy, and returned to the school after greeting him.

Once he saw him leave, Julian immediately walked over.

“Was the cruise trip this time fun?” A seemingly normal dialogue between brothers, it made Ziray start to be on guard repeatedly instead.

Outsiders don't know; to think that he's truly a very kind medical team member who is only a bit strange is wrong. Having interacted with him for more than ten years, even now he still couldn't quite figure out this guy. Ziray deeply felt that he's more troublesome than the weirdest enemy or target.

“It, it was alright.” Looking at the glasses hanging outside his long bangs, he quickly replied.

Julian stretched his hand out: “I heard there was a disturbance. Where are the corpses?”

“They sank into the bottom of the sea!” They can't be eaten, why would he bring them back!?

The mouth below the glasses bent into the curve of some sort of smile: “They sank?”

“They sank.” Ziray nodded.

“Then never mind. It's such a pity, I thought this time I would be able to get the leader of the sea people.” Saying that, just when Ziray breathed a sigh of relief, the person standing in front of him suddenly reached out and grabbed his cheek, pulling it to the side: “Little brother Ziray, you didn't eat them, right!?”

“I didn't! That's poisonous! He's poisonous!” Who would eat something poisonous!?

“Didn't you often claim that poisonous things likewise can't do anything to you, uncle Ziray?” Disregarding the other person's struggle, Julian clutched his face and interrogated.

“I wouldn't be so bored as to go around eating everywhere, alright!” Being pinched till his temper rose up a little, Ziray directly swung a fist to greet the face of his own older brother.

Dodging quickly and not getting hit by him, Julian let go of his hands and took two steps back.

Not giving up, as soon as he saw him move away, Ziray immediately kicked off the ground and rushed forward to shorten the distance, wanting to send him a second punch.

This time he didn't dodge, and the sound of a smack rang out in the air. Standing in the same spot, Julian extended his left palm and easily caught his punch, before tightening his fingers: “Little brother Ziray, you still have yet to get stronger.” It looks like they usually let him go on too leisurely. He should take him to properly train next time he comes home.

Just when he was about to let go, Julian abruptly sensed a burst of cold wind sweeping over from the side, and took two steps back hastily. His long bangs already had a few strands cut off, soundlessly floating down on the ground.

“Hey! You're getting slow!” Almost succeeding, Ziray tsked regretfully. He originally even wanted to help his third brother cut his bangs into Chibi Maruko-chan‘s hairstyle, just falling short of that bit of distance. Sure enough, having a black robe rank makes it harder to win against him, but this kind of trick, his family also has a bunch of unkillable fellows with it.

“Your level is too lacking. If it were me, I would've long since cut the target's neck.” Pushing his glasses that had slid down slightly, the mouth under Julian's bangs smiled a bit, glimpsing that his brother had already taken out a beast claw.

Since he wants to play for real, based on the family rules, he should play for real too. There's no way to beat someone to death at school anyway. Even if he accidentally kills him, he can still help him revive right away.

Not at all believing that he would die, Julian moved his left hand, and just when he was about to seriously return the favor, a certain someone who managed the school grounds had come out.

“Stop it, you two, stay your hand.” Holding a bunch of folders as if she was just about to go out, Hou inserted herself in between the two of them with a hand. Her small head had an imposing manner that couldn't be ignored: “If you want to fight, then leave the school to fight. Don't you see that the security stone statues are already stirring?”

Julian withdrew his hand and noticed that the stone statues on the school wall have begun to permeate the strange atmosphere.

“Don't worry, this uncle will even fight the helpers.” Completely didn't feel that the stone statues stirring meant anything, Ziray grinned and swung his beast claw with a whirring sound.

“You are…”

“Little brother Ziray, I think we should go eat something first.” Before Hou could fly off the handle, Julian suddenly appeared behind Ziray, and his two hands directly seized him, not giving his little brother the time to resist at all: “Be good, big brother loves you so.”

With goosebumps breaking out all over him after hearing his tone, Ziray started to struggle.

“The campus has just finished constructing the barrier. You can't cause any trouble. If you damage the school building, we'll have to repair it again. Go somewhere far away from here.” Hou held the folders with her other hand on her hip, very much giving off a you-better-scram-quickly sense.

“Alright, we'll go immediately.”

“Bastard! This uncle is not afraid of those stone statues—”

The voice was dragged far away.

The leader of the Rogeria family has a total of five children.

Ziray is the very last one.

But because the five children of the family are each born to different mothers, the age gap is considerably big. Even with his fourth brother, they're almost four years apart. With his third brother, Julian, they're even further apart in age.

Sometimes Ziray would think to himself, and suddenly have a “maybe I'm actually born to eldest brother and this (arrangement as the youngest brother) is only to avoid being noticed” kind of conclusion. Of course, this came from watching TV; many dramas play this arrangement.

He wouldn't go so far as to actually ask his rarely-home eldest brother. That would mean being beaten up. What the Rogeria Clan lacks the most is the teaching of love. They believe more in the teaching of iron, so on the whole, everyone all grew up in a you-beat-me-I'll-assassinate-you environment.

Starting from when he was old enough to understand things, Ziray felt that it was difficult to get along with the four siblings. In addition to the too big of a difference in age, every one of them also had different personalities.

At first, he tried getting closer to his fourth brother who was closer to him in age, and then slept for a week after being hypnotized by books and sceneries day in and day out. It wasn't enough of a challenge, so he got too lazy to run over there.

Afterwards, he went to find his third brother, which was Julian. Before he found him, he first opened the door. After seeing that his room was full of suspended corpses, skulls and bones, he completely lost the desire to communicate with this brother. The second oldest was his sister. On TV, it said that real men don't hit women, so he skipped her.

The eldest was simply too scary, so serious that it was scary. Like a diamond, he was incompatible with humans. After a day of talking with him, Ziray deeply felt that, in the world, only TV was his good friend.

So he developed a habit of staying in front of the TV whenever he didn't have any missions or things to do, watching all the TV programs of the sealed world and the original world, and then from there, he learned a lot about the world's intricacies.

It's a pity that no one can understand this kind of intricacy.

Perhaps because he is the youngest child, and doesn't need to share too much of the household duties, apart from having to settle a mission when he sometimes had one and having to show up for training, his life was very cozy, even leisurely.

This kind of life continued until a certain day when teenage Julian came to find him, directly announcing and creating a large crack.

He remembers all of it, that day he was watching the final episode of *Jacky Go Go Go. The auntie and the hero were just about to join hands to fight the bad guy—

[T/N: Seems to be a Taiwanese variety show, not sure which season]

A dead human head appeared in between his TV. The face was completely purplish-black and bloated, and even had stiffened bluish green veins. Connected to a body above, the whole thing was hung upside down.

[Mr. Julian, this is your delivery item: one corpse poisoned to death by eighteen poisonous creatures, please accept.] A small who-knows-what animal popped up from the ceiling, with some sort of marking on its body: [Thank you for ordering. Next time we have the newest corpse, we will immediately send it to you.]

Ziray watched as the corpse water from that dead body gushed all over his TV, drilling into the thin slits drop by drop. A few seconds later, his TV began to smoke, making whirring sounds, and his auntie turned into a black screen behind the corpse's hindbrain with a snap.

After several seconds, that who-knows-what small animal was beaten up and fled the Rogeria family. And so, the abnormal corpse gathering center painted the assassin clan with a blacklisted-account sign.

At that time, the still-young Julian was originally moving his books back to his room. Upon hearing the shrill shrieks of the deliveryman, he stopped, and turned to the source of the noise.

He saw that the door to his little brother's room was open, from chasing the deliveryman out. There was even an unpleasant but familiar smell coming from inside the room.

Immediately running into Ziray's room, he was happy to see the corpse that he had reserved for a long time appear on the TV. Maybe because of the hot smoke from the TV, the corpse water was flowing out even more vigorously. The entire corpse water was extremely black. A normal person would immediately drop dead if they touched it.

“What is this damn thing!?” After driving away the deliveryman, Ziray, who returned to his room, was just in time to see his older brother taking the corpse down from the ceiling, and the TV had already been half corroded, the machinery inside all ruined. It wasn't very pitiful damage that could be returned to normal with hard knock at a forty-five degree angle.

Teenage Julian's hair wasn't that long yet, and you could say it was a normal person's hairstyle. He didn't have glasses either, and looked rather delicate and handsome. However, when he used that face to take the corpse, he looked completely unlovable.

“My corpse.” Saying words that made one feel very weird, Julian wasn't afraid of the deadly poison at all and took the corpse down. After first stopping that valuable poisonous corpse water, he slung the corpse over his shoulder: “This is material that can be cultivated into very nice things. Do you want to see?”

“You want to cultivate dead people pills!?” Glaring at the rotten TV, Ziray really wanted to rush over and give him a beating.

Noticing his line of sight, Julian pulled the dead person's hand and raised it to beckon at him: “My room has a TV that I can lend you. Our old man doesn't really like it when we watch these things. You'll have to wait a long time for your next TV, are you coming or not?”

That room full of dead people and dead people's bones appeared in Ziray's mind in one second, and then he revealed a disgusted expression.

But when he thought of auntie's last episode, he hesitated.

“You're really not coming? To express my apologies, I can also invite you to eat.” Continuing to use the dead person's hand to beckon, Julian revealed a smile that he thought was very sincere but looked like the incarnation of some kind of evil scheme.

“Are we eating dead people?” Glancing at that corpse, Ziray felt that it must be that sort of thing from the bottom of his heart.

“It's not that, it's something someone in the medical team called Tyre sent over. There's popcorn, a cake tower and all kinds of meat pies, too much for me to finish. Do you want?” At any rate, he wasn't the one who bought them. It was the person from the Phoenix Clan who sent them to pull their relationship closer. To him, it didn't do any harm.

After hearing that it wasn't human meat, Ziray was immediately moved.

“I'll go!”

Completely losing to TV and food.

The second time he went into Julian's room was under these sort of circumstances.

Ziray, who had already prepared himself to see many corpses, was instead greatly surprised after the door opened.

The inside of that room was so clean, it was unbelievable. Except for several specimen tubes on the cabinet and a few bones and corpses hanging on the walls, the damn things he saw everywhere last time were gone. The room was very clean and the floor had a generously-sized carpet. The carpet had a small table, with a TV not far from it, and a few books and things that were suspected to be organs thrown nearby.

“Go ahead and watch.” Walking into the room with the corpse slung over his shoulder, Julian didn't stop and went straight to the other door in the room and opened it. In that second, Ziray seemed to have smelled some kind of mysterious odor. He didn't want to guess what was inside at all. In short, his third brother threw the corpse inside and the door was shut.

Then he turned on the TV, just in time for the second half of the episode to soon come on.

It was indeed just as he said. Julian brought over a bunch of food and drinks, placing them on the small table for him to casually eat and drink. After glancing at the TV without any interest at all, he squatted down nearby and started flipping through the books and playing with those organs that seem to be actually real.

Unable to deny it, Ziray felt that it was actually quite pleasant that day. At least there were enough food that were tasty enough.

After that, he started to frequently run to Julian's room because there was TV and a lot of food provided. As long as he ignores the decorations in the room and the sounds coming from that door, the environment here was really good overall. And Dad seemed to be purposely dragging out the time for the new TV, buying it very, very slowly, so slowly that Ziray thought he was taking the parts back to assemble it himself.

And so, he passed his time like this for a few days.

Ziray began to realize, this older brother doesn't have any interest in living people, apart from the dead. At first, when he saw him enthusiastically go out on a mission, he honestly thought that he was passionate about work. It was only later that he realized it wasn't the case. He just wanted to bring back a corpse. As long as the mission doesn't have a dead person, he'd generally refuse it, picky to an extremely strange extent.

But he (Ziray) watches his TV and eats his food. The two didn't have any conflicts at all, nor did they have anything they both like, almost unable to strike up any conversations with each other.

It's fine if he carries a half-rotten corpse back when he watches TV, and it's fine if he directly cuts up the body in the other corner of the hall until it's bloody. Ziray decided to pretend he didn't see them.

It has nothing to do with him anyway, and the room wasn't his in the first place. Whatever Julian wants to do is up to him.

One day, after this kind of life that wasn't bad at all had lasted half a month or so, it officially shattered.

On that day, Ziray was too tired after binge-watching a TV series for twelve consecutive hours in Julian's room, in addition to feeling weary after binge-eating twelve hours worth of food, and directly fell down in front of the TV to take a nap.

He heard the sound of someone coming in, and he knew who it was.

Relaxing his instincts and alertness, he continued to sleep. It was rare that the other person didn't issue the sound of a corpse being dragged today. He thought that, after finishing his mission and returning, this guy would happily bring the corpse and withdraw into the back of that door.

When he wanted to ignore the other person and fall deeper into sleep, a whishing icy breeze made Ziray flip himself up in less than a second, instinctively flipping back a good distance.

He saw a short knife inserted in the spot where he was just sleeping.

“Tsk.” Julian, who inserted the knife, let out a disappointed sound, then pulled the knife out from the floor.

“What are you doing!? You wanted to sneak-attack this uncle, is that it!?” Ziray, who was still a whole head shorter than the other person at that time, swung out his not-so-big beast claw, very much exuding the imposing manner of someone fighting.

“No, I thought that the hand you exposed when you were sleeping just now was quite beautiful, and wanted to say to cut it off to be part of my collection.” Speaking in a tone as if he was only saying he wanted a hair from you, Julian completely didn't feel that there was anything wrong as he played with the sharp knife: “Give me it, don't worry, I'll help you preserve the hand very well. You'll know just by looking at the things in my room.”

“Bastard! If you want this uncle's hand, hand over your life first!”

Without a second word, they went straight to fighting.

When they fought to the end that time, the fourth child of the Rogeria family was fortunately passing by, and narrowly dragged Ziray, who almost got his hand cut off, away by force, or else there probably would've been many other parts of him missing in addition to his hand.

And so, Ziray's vigilance toward that room instantly changed from the lowest level to the highest level.

Living people cannot enter!

He really wanted to carve such a sign on the room's door.

From that day on, he further discovered that Julian's bad habits also included going to sneak-attack other people. Weaker guys would find themselves missing a body part the next day—though his blood-clotting and painkilling skills really aren't for show. Sure enough, he has the aptitude of the Phoenix Clan.

After growing up, Ziray would occasionally think about this, before deeply feeling that maybe his reflexes have been trained under the palm of the weirdo corpse demon.

Apart from stealing bodies (including parts of the body), Julian also responded strangely to other people, and yet he can also get along with other people pretty well. Even those who had been cut by him would still go ask him for help.

Ziray could do nothing at all about this point.

That guy and him just can't see eye to eye, he was fully aware of this.

What was unfortunate was that Julian seemed to be very attached to his hand, stealthily watching for a whole year, and only giving up and going to search for other targets after determining that he really can't cut it.

He began to question just whom this guy was descended from. In his whole family, there has never been a corpse-loving maniac before, this is the first one. However, there is a slight benefit, which is that the corpses don't need to be dealt with; just leave them and they'll be gone the next day.

Julian not only collected corpses, he would also take the corpses to perform many weird experiments and research on them, among them being the development of a lot of rather useful things. So everyone in the family just turned a blind eye to it.

It wasn't until he got into the medical team and moved out of the family that the Rogeria Clan was freed from the vigilance of needing to guard yourself against being cut. But every time this guy returned, everyone once again started to tense up and be on guard, or else they'd soon suffer too.

The gradually growing Ziray deeply felt that the medical team must be heaven for that guy. The analysis department had large numbers of corpses waiting for him to handle everyday, and if not that, then it'd be things related to corpses, which were also a lot. When he was lucky, he could even get a few hundred, even the bones of the dead from thousands of years ago, letting Julian happily rise several levels in succession quickly and become one of the main forces of the medical team's analysis department.

He still felt that this guy was very difficult to handle.

More difficult to handle as compared to everyone…plus everyone in school, and that damn nerd.

Because he is completely unable to figure out what exactly he's thinking.

After leaving the school, Ziray was directly dragged to some restaurant on the left shopping street by Julian.

As soon as they reached their destination, Julian let go.

“Bastard! If you grab this uncle again next time, I'll beat you to death!” Ziray roared at him furiously as if a hornet's nest had been poked.

“I got it, I got it, I'm going to eat dinner. Are you eating or not, it's my treat.” Julian, who completely didn't get it, pushed the restaurant doors, replying very perfunctorily and then walking in.

As soon as the doors opened, the smell of food immediately drifted over, and Ziray, of course, followed after him.

If someone is treating him, then he has to eat him out of his wallet. This is an unchanging rule.

The inside of the restaurant was simple, with a few tables and chairs and paintings on the walls, nothing else.

Julian seemed to be very familiar with the owner inside, directly sitting down on the seat in front of the counter and amiably saying hello, before ordering a lot of dishes.

There weren't many people inside the restaurant, so the food quickly came.

With food to eat, of course Ziray wouldn't bother with him, going straight to replenishing himself with the energy of life.

As for conversation topics between the two of them (Julian and the owner), they actually talk about which way to die is easier to deal with. How to preserve the internal organs that are taken out has nothing to do with him (Ziray). It'd be fine as long as he vigorously eats, eats, eats; eats until he's full and leaves.

“That's right, it's rare to see you bring people over.” The owner's gaze fell on Ziray for a moment and quickly shifted, casually making conversation.

“My little brother, if he comes by in the future, please look after him.” Shaking the drink in his hand, Julian took off his glasses, very relaxed as he sat on the chair.

Seldom seeing him with such a leisurely attitude, Ziray also felt that it was strange, unable to help paying attention to their conversation but still continuing to vigorously eat.

“Didn't you say that there is no one in your family following the same path as you, and yet you even brought him here.” Speaking slightly ambiguous words, the owner's voice further decreased in volume a little, and you needed to listen very carefully to hear it all clearly.

Curving into a smile, Julian put his cup down, likewise answering in a low voice: “Little brother Ziray doesn't really keep his distance from me. It's fine to let him know about this place. Not so for the other people.”

“That's good then, it just so happens that there was recently a new batch…”

Ziray didn't listen carefully to the words that came after. After all, it didn't have much to do with him.

He continued to eat, eat, eat. Even if what later came to the table wasn't food but rather a pile of corpses, he'll still continue to eat. The people of the Rogeria Clan often saw corpses anyway. He's long since become numb to them.

Julian and that boss happily chatted, spending quite some time. In between this, food was still being supplied nonstop, letting Ziray eat till he felt satisfied.

It was probably already late after they left the restaurant. The shopping street had started changing into a night business mode, considerably different from the daytime.

It was only after that Ziray realized this restaurant's boss was a famous specimen collector. Those who wanted to enter his restaurant also needed to have a bit of nerve.

But the current him still didn't understand, and only thought that this restaurant's dishes weren't bad and that he could bring Yang over to visit when he has time.

“I'm going to return to the medical team.” Julian patted his head and was immediately flung off by him: “Little brother Ziray, if you see an unusual corpse next time, please leave it for me.”

“We'll see!” It'll depend on his mood.

As if he had thought of something, Ziray rummaged through the backpack he'd brought along on the ship, and dug out a bone and tossed it over: “As thanks for the dinner.” When he punched that whatchamacallit shark sea people's leader, it fell out from who-knows-where. It didn't look like a tooth and probably pierced through somewhere while they were fighting. He wanted to say that he didn't know whether or not it could be stewed into fish soup, and so, just stuffed it into his backpack.

Grabbing that bone, his entire eyes behind his bangs were shining: “Thank you so much, little brother Ziray. To show my gratitude, I can help make you a beautiful specimen after you die—”

“Forget it! This uncle will wander the jianghu all his life and never leave a trace, get away from me!”

Sure enough, he can't see eye to eye with him at all.

It's the same from the past to the present, as well as the future.

Ziray deeply felt that this guy is the most difficult to deal with in his whole family.

“Little brother Ziray, it won't hurt, don't worry.” He drew out his special knife for blood-letting, gleaming brightly: “I can predict that specimen will definitely be a beautiful work of art. Just don't mind the other aspects so much.”

It'd be weird if he doesn't mind, “Scram!” Full of strength after eating, his beast claw directly swung out to fight his mortal enemy.

And so, the late-night left shopping street officially began to operate.

“Don't run—”
