Da Tian Ting was happy she stood up the obnoxious rich man. After the obnoxious rich man paid for their lunch, she held Feng Kai Ze’s hand and they walked to his car.

‘Aren’t you scared he’ll take revenge on you for insulting him?’ Feng Kai Ze asked.

Feng Kai Ze didn’t say that Da Tian Ting had him in her corner so no one would dare take revenge on her.

‘How can he take revenge on me if he doesn’t know who I am?’ Da Tian Ting asked. ‘I hate rich people like him. He insulted me then he flaunted his money by paying for our lunch. People like him will end up in hell.’

Feng Kai Ze knew after he bought fitted clothes and light makeup for Da Tian Ting, she’d be a thousand times more beautiful than Da Ming Sheng.

Da Tian Ting felt uncomfortable having Feng Kai Ze stare at her, and let go of his hand.

‘There’s no one we know around us,’ Da Tian Ting said. ‘Stop taking advantage of me. You don’t need to hold my hand.’

‘You were holding my hand and taking advantage of me,’ Feng Kai Ze said.

‘When did I hold your hand?’ Da Tian Ting denied.

Feng Kai Ze was the first man Da Tian Ting took the initiative to hold his hand. He gave her a sense of security unlike Shang Duan Hua. She didn’t feel comfortable letting Shang Duan Hua hold her hand.

Da Tian Ting let Feng Kai Ze hold her hand.

‘I’m taking you to the hair salon for a haircut first,’ Feng Kai Ze said.

‘Why do I need a haircut?’ Da Tian Ting asked.

‘Today I want to give you a makeover,’ Feng Kai Ze said.

‘Why do I need a makeover?’ Da Tian Ting asked.

‘Didn’t you say you want to outshine Da Ming Sheng?’ Feng Kai Ze asked.

‘Yesterday I was an emotional mess,’ Da Tian Ting said. ‘Today I’m thinking clearer. I don’t want to waste money pointlessly. How can I outshine Da Ming Sheng after a makeover?’

Da Tian Ting didn’t have the confidence her appearance could change drastically in less than nine days.

‘Do you think swans know they’re beautiful?’ Feng Kai Ze asked. ‘Trust me, a makeover will polish your natural beauty.’

‘Thank you for cheering me up,’ Da Tian Ting said.

‘Let’s go to the hair salon,’ Feng Kai Ze said. ‘There are other places I want to take you today. Like taking you to have a facial, and to buy new outfits.’

‘Can you take me home first?’ Da Tian Ting asked. ‘Because I only have enough money on me to buy groceries.’

Da Tian Ting felt comfortable to say whatever was on her mind with Feng Kai Ze. She felt relaxed around him. Whereas she was always careful about what she said in front of Shang Duan Hua.

‘Da Tian Ting, if you mention money again, I’ll take you out to sea and throw you over the ship,’ Feng Kai Ze said.

‘I’m just being honest with you,’ Da Tian Ting said. ‘I don’t have enough money on me to pay for a haircut, a facial and new outfits.’

Da Tian Ting wasn’t fazed by Feng Kai Ze’s idle threat.

‘I’m paying for your makeover,’ Feng Kai Ze said.

‘Didn’t you say you’re jobless?’ Da Tian Ting asked.

Since the obnoxious rich man paid for lunch, Da Tian Ting didn’t know if Feng Kai Ze was bluffing or not at the restaurant.

Feng Kai Ze opened the passenger door, and Da Tian Ting sat inside the car.

‘Don’t worry,’ Feng Kai Ze said. ‘I didn’t rob anyone.’

Feng Kai Ze sat in the driver’s seat, and buckled his seatbelt.

‘Do you even have money in your bank account?’ Da Tian Ting asked.

‘If you want to know how much money I have in my bank account, marry me and I’ll tell you,’ Feng Kai Ze said. ‘After you’re my wife, I’ll give you control over my money.’

‘Forget I asked,’ Da Tian Ting said.

Ten minutes later, Feng Kai Ze took Da Tian Ting to an expensive hair salon.

‘Hey…’ Da Tian Ting said.

Da Tian Ting didn’t mention money again in case Feng Kai Ze would throw her into a sea.

A hairdresser smiled politely at Da Tian Ting and Feng Kai Ze.

‘Sir, madam, how can I help you?’ the hairdresser asked.

‘Is there a VIP room here?’ Feng Kai Ze asked.

‘Yes sir,’ the hairdresser said. ‘But to use the VIP room, customers need to pay a VIP membership fee. Sir, it looks like it’s yours and madam’s first time here so neither of you can access the VIP room.’

‘We don’t need to go to the VIP room,’ Da Tian Ting said softly to Feng Kai Ze. ‘A regular haircut will suffice.’

Money didn’t fall out of the sky. Da Tian Ting didn’t want to waste a year worth of savings to pay the VIP membership fee.

‘Let me handle this,’ Feng Kai Ze said.

Feng Kai Ze wanted to tell the hairdresser off for judging him and Da Tian Ting by their appearances. But Da Tian Ting squeezed his hand.

‘Don’t burn money,’ Da Tian Ting said softly.

Feng Kai Ze took out an unlimited bank card, and passed it to the hairdresser.

‘I want the salon’s best hairdresser to cut my girlfriend’s hair,’ Feng Kai Ze instructed.

The hairdresser’s eyes lit up, and spoke to Feng Kai Ze and Da Tian Ting in a respectful tone of voice.

‘Sir, madam, follow me to the VIP room,’ the hairdresser said.

‘Take my girlfriend to the VIP room first,’ Feng Kai Ze said. ‘I need to use the bathroom.’

Da Tian Ting felt uncomfortable being in an unfamiliar place. She would have followed the mysterious Feng Kai Ze if he didn’t go to the bathroom.

‘Madam, the salon’s best hairdresser will wash your first,’ the hairdresser said.

‘I washed my hair yesterday,’ Da Tian Ting said. ‘I don’t need to wash my hair today.’

‘We wash all our clients’ hair before cutting their hair,’ the hairdresser explained.

‘Oh,’ Da Tian Ting said.

The hairdresser opened the VIP door for Da Tian Ting. She didn’t expect to see Shang Duan Hua and Da Ming Sheng to come out of the VIP room.

Da Ming Sheng was nervous to see Da Tian Ting. Da Tian Ting never been to a hair salon before. Why did the hairdresser escort Da Tian Ting into the VIP room? Did Da Tian Ting follow her and Shang Duan Hua to expose her schemes to him?

‘Big sister, are you here for a haircut?’ Da Ming Sheng asked sweetly.

Da Tian Ting ignored Shang Duan Hua and Da Ming Sheng. She realised while she worked, Shang Duan Hua brought Da Ming Sheng to salons.

‘Aren’t you embarrassed to dress like this at a prestigious hair salon?’ Shang Duan Hua asked. ‘Any man would be embarrassed to admit you’re his girlfriend.’

‘Shang Duan Hua, what are you implying?’ Da Tian Ting asked.

‘Go to the mirror over there and see for yourself,’ Shang Duan Hua said. ‘You don’t suit this place.’

Da Tian Ting looked at her reflection. She looked like a country bumpkin compared to Da Ming Sheng. Da Ming Sheng wore a designer pink dress, heels, makeup and perfume.

‘Now do you see what an embarrassment you are?’ Shang Duan Hua asked.

Da Ming Sheng was happy Shang Duan Hua mocked Da Tian Ting.

‘Duan Hua, big sister is a woman too,’ Da Ming Sheng said. ‘It’s normal for her to want to come to a place like this.’

‘If her head is shaved, people would mistake her for a man,’ Shang Duan Hua said.

‘Shang Duan Hua, do you need to be this insulting?’ Da Tian Ting asked.

‘You deserve to be insulted after you assaulted Ming Sheng,’ Shang Duan Hua said. ‘Did you follow me and Ming Sheng here to take revenge on Ming Sheng again?’

‘When did I assault her?’ Da Tian Ting asked.

‘How can you deny the truth after you’ve been caught assaulting Ming Sheng?’ Shang Duan Hua asked.

‘Shang Duan Hua, you should ask the woman standing next to you if she can swear on her life that I assaulted her,’ Da Tian Ting said.

Da Ming Sheng wasn’t scared of Da Tian Ting’s glare.

‘Big sister… I’m sorry,’ Da Ming Sheng stammered.

‘Da Tian Ting!’ Shang Duan Hua called. ‘If you’re angry then take your anger out on me instead of Ming Sheng. Ming Sheng is innocent, and doesn’t deserve to be threatened by someone vicious like you.’

The other clients quietly watched the fight from their seats.

‘Shang Duan Hua, if I’m vicious then it would be me standing next to you right now, not her,’ Da Tian Ting said.

‘Big sister, I’m sorry I wronged you,’ Da Ming Sheng said innocently.

‘Da Tian Ting, stop insulting someone innocent!’ Shang Duan Hua warned.

‘Shan Duan Hua, you’re a pathetic shallow man,’ Da Tian Ting said. ‘You let her appearance deceive you.’

‘Da Tian Ting, the only two faced person here is you,’ Shang Duan Hua said.

Da Min Sheng was happy Shang Duan Hua believed her lies.

‘The truth will come out eventually,’ Da Tian Ting said. ‘Shang Duan Hua, when that day comes, it’ll be too late for you to regret.’

‘Da Tian Ting, no man would want to marry a vicious old maid like you,’ Shang Duan Hua said.

‘Shang Duan Hua, you don’t need to worry about me,’ Da Tian Ting said. ‘I have a man who wants to marry me.’

‘Da Tian Ting, I won’t believe your lies,’ Shang Duan Hua said. ‘The only friend you have is Ding Xiao Ran. There is no man who wants to marry you.’

‘I’ll bring him to yours and her wedding,’ Da Tian Ting said.

‘I can’t wait to see what dog or cat you’ll bring to mine and Ming Sheng’s wedding,’ Shang Duan Hua said.

‘Shang Duan Hua, thank you for leaving me,’ Da Tian Ting said. ‘Now I have a caring boyfriend who makes me happy. He’s a better man than you by a thousand times.’

‘Da Tian Ting, bring your imaginary boyfriend to the wedding,’ Shang Duan Hua said. ‘Ming Sheng, let’s go.’

Da Ming Sheng followed Shang Duan Hua downstairs. She secretly turned around, and smirked at Da Tian Ting.

Da Tian Ting glared at the two faced Da Ming Sheng. She wasn’t going to give Shang Duan Hua and Da Ming Sheng the satisfaction of having the last laugh.

The salon’s best hairdresser witnessed the whole confrontation. He recognised Feng Kai Ze’s bank card. He knew the two people who dared to insult Feng Kai Ze’s girlfriend would meet a bad ending.

‘Madam, speaking from experience, after you have a makeover, everyone will see that you’re a thousand times more beautiful than that two faced woman before,’ the best hairdresser said.

‘Really?’ Da Tian Ting asked.

‘Yes,’ the best hairdresser said. ‘First I’ll wash your hair. Then I’ll give you a new hairstyle that suits your apple face.’

The salon’s best hairdresser washed Da Tian Ting’s hair. He and his bank account were happy to serve Feng Kai Ze’s girlfriend.
