But there is a difference between an actual king of a lesser country/territory, and a wang, even though they sorta share the same title.)

[1] This is mostly referring to scholar or those who excel in this sort of scholarly activities with prospects in politics. These were usually sons of nobles or officials, and ones that had high enough status to marry a princess was usually a son from a prominent family.

[2] Term for older palace maid, usually higher in status than average palace maid.

[3] Using 'young madam' address for Jing Wan's sister-in-laws, there really isn't english equivalent for 大少奶奶, which are used to address the women that are married in to the young masters by the servants.

T/N: I wasn't joking when I said she had a super badass backstory. If you ask me, Princess Heyang's backstory can even be written into a full novel and it would still be super entertaining. I always like to think of this novel as a novel with many mini stories inside in the form of the other characters' backstories. It's so much fun with all the different side characters having so unique backstories.
