Twenty Seven Years Chapter 16

  Chapter 16 Accident

Starting with Julia is better than dealing with Fletcher.

Julia is just a little girl who is only sixteen or seventeen years old, so it should be much easier to handle. The study was no problem as long as I could get into Julia's room.

There are two options for this idea.

The first one is to find a way to convince Julia. The advantage is that you can directly enter the study through the window at night, and you have plenty of time to investigate. The downside is that convincing Julia is hard and risky.

The second way is to sneak in when Julia is in school, and then enter the study through the window. The advantage is that there is no need to have too much contact with Julia. The downside was that during the day, I was basically under Fletcher's surveillance and had no time to go out at all.

He couldn't decide which of these two options was more suitable for him, so he could only proceed with the two approaches first, take one step at a time, and make a decision after the situation became clear.

It was too late, and after thinking this through, Verak finally breathed a sigh of relief and lay down on the bed to sleep.

In the next few days, Verak started to promote two plans, and the progress of the second plan seems to be better for the time being.

He and Julia usually meet only at breakfast and dinner. It's not easy to communicate with Julia under the eyes of everyone. The meeting was basically a simple greeting. Otherwise, Verak felt that it would be inappropriate to proceed, so he remained frozen and could only wait for a better opportunity.

The second plan can be regarded as hard work pays off, Verac was trained by Fletcher for several days, not only because he was tired, but Fletcher stayed in the bedroom all day, teaching some simple things in his opinion , also a little upset.

From the third day onwards, he began to leave the bedroom frequently, letting Veraker study by himself, and then check by himself after a while.

Verac tried to figure out Fletcher's travel pattern, and soon found that although Fletcher went out at random times, the time for going out began to become longer and longer, gradually changing from ten minutes to half an hour, one Hour.

   July 21, Friday.

In the afternoon of this day, Fletcher made the next task for Veraker and left. Verak glanced at the content, and it would take about an hour to write down these under normal circumstances. Even if Fletcher came back early for inspection, it should be at most half an hour earlier, that is to say, he had enough safe half an hour to go out.

Today is the best opportunity. Because Julia usually goes to school from 9 am to 3 pm, and has holidays on weekends. If Verak misses today's opportunity, he will have to wait until next Monday to make plans. In addition, it will not be easy for Meera and Kellerman to go out together. The two people go out at an irregular time, and there are not many opportunities to go out at the same time. I don't know what will happen next week.

The best thing to do is to do it as early as possible today, while everything is ready.

So Verac sneaked out a few minutes after Fletcher went out. At this point the servants were not wandering the corridors, and Verak arrived at Julia's door without incident. Fortunately, Julia did not lock the door, and Verak entered smoothly.

Julia's room is clean and tidy, more luxurious than Chris' bedroom, with dolls piled on the bed. Veraker was not interested in these, he just glanced around to understand the layout, then took off his shoes and went straight to the window, after making sure that there was no one outside, he looked at the window of the study next door.

The **** of fate favored him again, and the window of the study room was left open.

Verak turned out the window decisively, held on to the window sill with one hand, and grabbed the window of the study with the other, then made a bold leap, and the whole person went directly into Carmine's study.

"Huh." Verak stabilized his body after entering, trying not to make a big movement, and then looked around.

On the left side of the study room is a huge bookshelf that occupies the entire wall, on the right side is a collection shelf, and on the side near the window is an expensive desk with exquisite workmanship. After memorizing the layout of the study in his heart, Verak walked quickly to the desk regardless of his heart beating wildly, and looked through the materials placed on the desk.

He read quickly, basically scanning the content of one page, and switched to the next page if he didn't find any key words. The information on the desk was quickly read, and what was on the surface was not what Verak wanted. He opened the drawer, desk and cabinet and continued to investigate further. There was no valuable information in it, which made Verak feel a little strange.

   Something is wrong.

Carmine's drawer is locked, and Verac would think it is reasonable. But now there is no defense at all, as if it can be shown to everyone, it is unreasonable.

If there is really nothing of value, why did Carmine lock the door of the study and let Fletcher keep the key?

There is only one possibility that can explain this, that is, this room has the same secret compartment as Chris's bedroom, and all the really important things are hidden in the secret compartment. The reason why Verac didn't guess the existence of the secret room was because when he passed the study these days, he observed that the pattern around the study made it impossible for him to make a secret room.

After reaching a conclusion, Veraker did the same thing when he searched Chris's room. He judged whether there were any abnormalities on the ground and walls by tapping to hear the sound and touch.

Due to time constraints, Verac didn't intend to knock it out hastily for the sake of efficiency. He was mentally prepared that he would not gain anything today. Instead of rushing to finish typing and not finding anything and having to do it all over again, it is better to use the limited time to carefully check a wall first. Even if there is no gain, it is enough to rule out the hidden things in the wall possibility.

Time passed bit by bit, Verak forcibly suppressed the uneasiness in his heart, calmed down and checked the wall where the collection was placed.

  No leads found.

The possibility is higher on the side of the bookshelf, and the corresponding workload is greater. Regrettably, the time has now passed the half-hour safety line. To be on the safe side, Verak must retreat first, and focus on the inspection next time. At this moment, there was a sound from outside, and Veraker turned serious. He came to the window and looked down sideways. He saw two people getting off from a car in front of the mansion. One was Fletcher, and the other was actually Dempsey. !

  Verak's eyes widened.

  Many questions came to mind.

In his impression, Fletcher had never brought Dempsey to the mansion. Why did he bring him in this life?

Nord was also locked up in the hotel, but Fletcher only brought Dempsey with him. What happened in the hotel?

Verak always felt that it was not a good thing for Dempsey to be brought in. Fletcher would not be so kind, and took Dempsey all the way just to witness a tragic scene where friends finally met.

After Fletcher and Dempsey entered the building, Verac immediately turned back to Julia's bedroom through the window, and then ran back to Chris' room with his shoes. As soon as he closed the door, he heard footsteps in the corridor.

Villac quickly put on his shoes, sat back at the desk, took a deep breath, and flipped through the booklet.

Two seconds later, the door was pushed open by Fletcher: "Remember how?"

"It's okay, these two pages—" Veracer was mentally prepared, turned his head and just said half a sentence, then stared at Demps behind Fletcher in astonishment, speechless.
