Titan Beneath the Heavens Chapter 80

Chapter 80: Ninth Episode: Chapter 7

On the twelfth day of the twelfth month, Dulin had welcomed the first snow in the Year 791. The light snow turned heavy in the afternoon. The snowflakes the size of a cotton slowly fell down from the sky. It was not long until the buildings were painted white.

There were no people on the streets, only the carriages pushed forth the snow on the ground. The well-built Tyler purebred horse exhaled a long, white steam. When the snowflakes fell on it, the temperature of the horse quickly melted the snow. The loss of heat made these poor, cheap labors shivered in the cold. However, the whip was always there for them during these times, so they had no choice but to quicken their pace.

The snow was blinding. The people had to find some dark-colored object to adjust their sight whenever they went out. Even though snow-blinding was not common, to those who earned a living in the snow, being snow-blinded meant they had lost their eyesight. This also meant that they had to live in hunger, and alas death would be their final destination.

The skies of Dulin could not be seen any longer. Everything else was all painted a pure white color. The temperature of the air was not low, but the ground was exceptionally cold. The grey smoke that came from the buildings quickly dissipated in the air. The ashes of the coal flew in the sky along with the smoke and finally attached to the snowflakes and fell to the ground. Thus, the snow on the ground was not clean. They always had pieces of black spots on them.

A heavy sound of a bell ringing could be heard from Dulin Scott Cathedral. In the twelfth month every year, the bell at the bell tower was rung more frequently. The people loved to hear it because the ringing of bell indicated that Holy Day of God was around the corner. This was the holiest and most important event of the Religion of Light. It did not only celebrate the birth of the God, but also the beginning of a new year.

The carriage moved slowly on the road covered in ice. It went into the Road of Kings after turning at the intersection of the church. Then it turned into the Jewel Street from Foreign Ministry South Road. When the gate of 10 Jewel Street was visible, the carriage stopped. The guarding knight in the house came rushing. After greeting the carriage driver, they opened the iron gate.

His Imperial Highness The Prince O’Neil could finally stretch his limbs, relaxed, on the Polar Bear Sofa. This extremely luxurious sofa had always been taken by little miss. Oscar could only get a feel of it when his sister was not around.

Aeolia was still as usual. She seemed as though she would be frightened anytime. Maybe it was because the palace of the Prince was too large. Just one sound of footstep terrified this Countess.

Oscar always had a strong sense of powerlessness when he was facing this lady. For the reason none other than the fact that Aeolia never dared to raise her head when she faced herself.

"Aeolia, how long have you been in the Kenshin Palace?"

"Forty-nine days… fourteen hours…. Twelve minutes." Aya answered the Prince with the voice of a mosquito.

"As expected of a math genius!" Oscar rolled his eyes, "Let me ask you again. In this forty-nine days fourteen hours and twelve minutes, how many words have you spoken to me?"

Aeolia tried to recall back. She could not remember. This Countess buried her head lower due to embarrassment.

"Alright, Aeolia. Let me tell you. In these forty-nine days fourteen hours and twelve minutes, you have only spoken nineteen sentences to me!" Oscar, frustrated, made his tone sound serious, "As your guardian, I think we need a good talk! I suspect that you have been hiding from me. If that is not the case… You probably think I am just a parrot or a decoration."

"No…" Aeolia cried! "I… I don’t mean it that way… I…"

Oscar took a deep breath. He knew Aya would surely cry. The Prince left his Polar Bear Sofa. He sat beside of Aya. As expected, Aeolia immediately stopped her tears. She shivered violently and kept moving toward the inner part of the seat.

"Aya, everyone here treats you like a family member. Just like a good friend. I am the same as well. I don’t know what you are afraid of, so… I only wanted to chat with you. To be honest, I’ve had enough with that obedient look of yours. You should learn to share your inner thoughts and feelings with others. Do you want to live in your world forever? Do you want to ignore the kindness shown to you by your family and friends?"

Perhaps these word uttered by the Prince had some effect. Aeolia stopped shivering now. She raised her head slightly, but still did not dare to look the young man in his eyes.

"That’s some improvement!" Oscar screamed this in his heart.

"Then do you care to talk to me? For example… Where did you grow up from?"

"At a small town called Austella near Vielonna." Aeolia obviously mustered her courage and said a full sentence.

"Ola! That is a good start!" Oscar mumbled to himself.

"Then… Your family is not around anymore, but… I mean… Do you have a boyfriend or are you in any marriage contract?"

Aeolia looked at the Prince, but she quickly turned her head around. She was not sure why the Prince had asked about this. However, as a girl, her instinct told her that this was a test.

Oscar saw the girl’s face turned a dark red. Although he loved such alluring shade, he knew that the conversation might just be this way.

"I used to have a marriage contract. It was a Viscount. He courted me almost to the extent of being mad!" Aeolia regretted it as soon as she said this. She prayed in her heart that the Prince did not hear this.

"Ola! Is that so?" Oscar laid back, slightly lonely. He knew it. How could such a beautiful girl not be courted by others?

"Then… What happens after that?"

Aeolia curled her fingers. The distance between the Prince with her was truly close. This made her really uneasy, but she still answered honestly.

"The marriage was canceled later on because… Because that Viscount said he did not want to face a flower vase that was stiffer than the wood forever."

Oscar was stunned, but he quickly realized what he should do for Aya.

"Aeolia, do you know that? As the Prince, I can help you kill that bastard." Oscar ignored the shock of the Countess. He had not finished his words! "Assassin! Some cruel and professionally-trained assassins! I only need to notify them!"

"Are… Are you joking with me?" Aya’s eyes popped wide open.

"No! I am serious!" Oscar answered definitely. He was not joking with her like he did to the Queen, "I want you to know that I will do anything for you. As long as it makes you happy… Or… not afraid of me! Don’t hide away

from me!"

Aya felt that her heart almost stopped. She wanted to find a hole to crawl in now, but she knew she could not let the Prince misunderstand her.

"No! I am not afraid of you. Neither am I hiding from you! It’s just… It’s just that when I face you… I blush. I became careless. Maybe I look like an idiot. Maybe you don’t even understand what I am talking about! But… This is the truth. I don’t even know what is wrong with me!"

Oscar leaned toward the sofa cheerfully. He finally understood it.

"Then it’s fine like this!" The Prince suddenly took hold of Aya’s hands. "Don’t care about the others. You can treat me like your friend. Not the Prince, a guardian or your benefactor. Just a friend of your age."

Aeolia wanted to take her hands away. She felt that she was burnt by his touch! However, her attempts failed. The will of the Prince was very determined. He had no plan to let her go at all! Thus, the Countess simply buried her head in the chest.

"Aya, I must remind you that when you speak to someone, especially to your friends, you must look into his or her eyes. This is a basic mannerism," Oscar continued to calm the Countess, "Also! Do you know the meaning of a friend? A friend is a person with whom you can discuss the way to kill your ex-fiancé!"

Aya could not hold it in anymore. She burst out laughing.

"Look! Isn’t this great?" Oscar also smiled. He let go of the lady’s hands. He could not ask for too much at a time. The Prince understood this very well. He already knew that Aeolia’s hands were soft and delicate today. This was enough. The rest of it could be left to tomorrow and the days after. After all, they still had many days ahead of them!

"Then, let’s change the topic! I wanted to ask this of you! If I am not mistaken, you chose to major in political economy."

Aya was interested, as expected. She faced the Prince and for the first time ever, she realized this was not a difficult thing to do.

"Yes. The little miss once told me the doubts you had for this course. Political economy is a course independent of political study and economy study. This whole new concept was introduced by my grandfather. He had created this course when he was the principal of the University of Dulin. I have always wanted to study this course."

Oscar nodded. "But… Your major is in accounting and mathematics. According to what I know, the girls that study these two courses are truly rare! What I am trying to say is… Dear Aeolia, if you did this completely out of your own interest, then I have nothing more to say. I will support me more determinedly! But if it is because of other people and things…"

"No! I love the things related to mathematics..."

"Aeolia!" The Prince interrupted the Countess. "Do not be quick to explain. And don’t answer me this way. Look at you. The second day you came to the Kenshin Palace, you went to Colonel Vick and asked to do something for me. Then, you took over the budgeting and auditing work of all sorts of account and expenses. Then you work every day until late night. Then you wake up in the early morning to help Madame Keegan with the housework."

Aya pursed her lips tightly and lowered her head again. She was so naïve to think that His Imperial Highness The Prince did not know the things that she did.

"I said that you have to face your friend when he is talking to you!"

The order of the Prince was responded. Aya raised her head. She tried to make herself look calm.

"Aya, I need a friend. A friend that knows how to live her life and correctly treat her friend! If I needed an accountant, I would have hired one. If I needed a maid, I would have requested from Madam Keegan. And you, you must live for yourself. What you learn should be the things you truly wanted to possess. Don’t think about how you want to repay the debt to your friend. As a friend, it is only reasonable for him to do everything that he did for you."

Aeolia nodded. The reason that she was as busy as a maid was because she felt uncomfortable in the Kenshin Palace. She was simply a wild animal saved by His Imperial Highness The Prince. The title of Countess simply made her feel like she was indebted to the Prince even more. She had no friend, and now she had a lot. She naturally wanted to do something for her friends, but just as the Prince had said, her friends did not wish for her to change her lifestyle, hobbies, and principles.

"Your Highness, I officially request you to take over the financial matter in the palace! You know, in this whole month, my work is passable. As for studying, the study of political economy is my dream. Accounting is my working direction. As for mathematics, even though I am very good at it, but I really do not want to study any further. I want to have delicate hands like little miss and Madame Antonia. I don’t even know the craft skills that girls are supposed to know. So… I have always wanted to learn home economy."

Oscar smiled with relief. "Look, be a little honest with yourself and your friend! Isn’t that better?"

Aeolia did not say a word. It was her first time looking at the young Prince from such a close distance. He had a tall nose unique to the people of Narcissus. His eyes were dyed an elegant, light green color. His hair was slightly golden and curly. There was a small braid at the back of his head. It seemed that except for the round face was more refined now, this young man was still very handsome.

"Ah… Ah… Let me look at the broiled pork on the stove!" Aeolia suddenly excused herself. She ran away as if she was shocked.

Oscar looked at the beautiful figure of that girl and laughed mockingly at himself. His great excuse was no longer his own right.

"Vick, have you been waiting long?" The Prince said as he went back to his Polar Bear Sofa.

"Yes, but the one waiting for you was not me. It is Baron Messier De Quixote who traveled far from the south to visit you. You didn’t forget about that, did you? The ex-Action Officer of the Secret Service at Rylie Province. You invited him to Dulin."

Oscar slapped his forehead. "Look at me. Yes! Baron Messier! Oh God! Has he arrived? Let him in quickly!"

Baron Messier De Quixote respectfully greeted His Imperial Highness Prince. He understood the change of this young man. The little Prince was simply a small character who had the crown of a top member of the royal family when he was assaulted at the mountain area. However, looking at him now, he was already the fiancé of Her Imperial Highness The Princess and the most favorited young man by the side of Alfa III His Majesty.

"Alright! Old friend! I can see that your frightened demeanor is just an act. Come and sit here!" Oscar passionately pulled the ex-Action Officer to the chair.

Messier seemed to not be affected by the Prince’s words. He thanked the Prince and subsequently took a

a seat on the sofa.

"Your Highness, I am truly honored to receive your invitation. I don’t even know how to respond."

Oscar laughed. He did not want to waste his time on compliments and useless conversation. He asked about the situation of the riot in the south from this ex-Action Officer, as well as the recent situation of this Baron.

"That is to say… You are truly out of job!"

"Yes, Your Highness. That hearing had taken everything from me."

Oscar smiled bitterly. "I am sorry, Baron. This is all because of me! I once mentioned your name in front of His Majesty the Emperor in Dulin, but obviously, His Majesty had not taken notice of this."

"Your Highness, it is wrong to phrase that this way. I accept the punishment for neglecting my duty because there are truly loopholes in my work. For example, the riot in the south this time... the Action Officer and I did not see that coming at all."

Oscar waved his hands. He did not want to talk more about this. "I have a question. Since the rioters have put in so much effort into this before and performed such a detailed setup, why did their uprising only last for a short month? I am not denying the ability of the Imperial army. It’s just that I feel that the rioter lost too quickly. As compared with the work they did before, the action in the last stage undoubtedly failed terribly."

Messier nodded. "Your Highness. Your thought has a point, but you did not speak of the key. What is the point of rioting in the south? It was neither those poor tenants nor those workers in the factory. It was the businessmen. Have you forgotten? Those wealthy businessmen! Even though those businessmen had prepared enough supplies and manpower for this uprising, they had underestimated the strength of the country."

"I do understand this," Oscar slightly nodded. "According to what I know, when Dulin City lit up the beacon, the commander of the southern front had already begun dispatching army toward the rioting area. I am not clear about the numbers, but it can’t be blocked by those farmers for sure. As for the Imperial Army, the Imperial Army had dispatched the troops in the four provinces in central Titan to support the war in the southern mountainous area. Even though the Guards have not joined a war before, they have received training. They know how to fight. This is enough!"

Baron Quixote took the cup of coffee served to him by the maid. He thanked the Prince before he held up the cup.

"Your Highness, the strength of the country is an important element of success, but we still have to consider the nature of the businessmen. This is also one of the reasons why the uprising failed. The businessmen are only looking for profit. It was only under the urge to earn profit had they started an uprising. And, the factor that causes them to compromise is also profit. The Imperial Army blocked the roads and closed the factories. The wealth the businessmen accumulated with difficulty has been robbed to emptiness in one night. At this time, they naturally consider an exit route for themselves."

Messier took another sip of the coffee. "Your Highness, even though I have been stripped off my duty, I am still in contact with my old colleagues. They said that the turning point for the war is the surrender of a businessman of high status. He sold his companions out. When the Secret Service Department’s investigation dragged more people out, more people decided to betray their dreams and aims."

"Equality? Freedom?" His Imperial Highness The Prince said the slogan of those rioters. "That is right! Equality and freedom! The dream of businessmen!"

"Sounds great! But not for Titan!" Oscar concluded rashly. "How is this? Are you surprised at my invitation? To be honest, I really need a smart Secret Service Action Officer such as yourself to be my consultant."

Messier was definitely a little confused. "Your Highness, I have heard that you are about to further your studies at the Dulin Military Academy. I don’t understand why you will need a person who used to work on confidential matters as your consultant. Even though the matter of military area does involve Secret Service…"

"You are correct!" Oscar interrupted the Baron, "Someone intends to incorporate the work of Secret Service into military area. This is the reason I am furthering my studies"

Messier was extremely surprised! "The Secret Service work in the military area?" Almost in an instant, this ex-Secret Service Action Officer thought about a lot of things. O’Neil Andrew Morisette was the Prince and the fiancé of the Princess. If he were to study such a new subject, then there would be a high possibility that he would be responsible for the work in this new area in the future. This was a great opportunity for a Secret Service Officer that was out of jobs.

Without much thought, Messier De Quixote decided to accept this job that the prince had offered him.

"I knew you will definitely agree to this!" Oscar stood up happily. "But… As an employer, shall I assess your working ability?"

"Of course!" Messier was extremely belated. He had experienced numerous months of boring days. "Your Highness, I will gladly accept it! The more exciting, the better!"

"Yes! Yes!" Oscar smiled. "It will definitely be exciting! But… Having this opportunity wholly depends on the decision of an honorable Madame!"

"Marquis Laston Cambre! Sir Palace Chief, Her Majesty the Queen is waiting to see you in the large guest room on the second floor."

Laston waved his hand and dismissed the servant who came to notify him. He hated Westberg Fort because this place was more like the private land of Queen Rolyn Kate. The Eunuchs here seemed to get in touch a lot with women. Not only were their conversations disturbing, even their way of walking was disgusting.

The eastern area of Westberg Fort was still the same as usual. The honorable Mesdames who were lucky to be invited into this palace to accompany the Queen scattered around the palace like arrays of exquisite exhibited items. They all knew the Palace Chief of Alfa III His Majesty. This Marquis Laston was only a little over forty years old. He had a wide shoulder that only young man had and a pair of blue eyes that were able to see through the heart of women! Even though this Marquis had already gone past the optimal age to marry, this did not stop him from becoming the highest-quality single man among the nobles’ circle in the Capital.

Laston had a mesmerizing smile on his face. He greeted every Madame who passed by his ways. To those that he was familiar with, this Marquis would tell some small jokes that made his company laughed.

"Sometimes I wonder if you have some psychological problem!" Rolyn Kate still laid on her sling chair.

"Your Majesty, thank you for your worry and doubts. I am very healthy, especially psychologically." Laston kept his smile on his face.

"Then why do you still stay single at this age? There are all kinds of beauty in Dulin City and among the nobles’ circle in the Capital. I can’t believe you are not interested in even one of them." Rolyn Kate did not plan to let this Palace Chief go on this.

"Your Majesty, you did not summon me here just to discuss this, right? Could it be another Madame that tell you things

you things again? Please, Your Majesty, the number of times I went on a blind date was already astronomical number! Can’t you just leave me be in the light of God of Light?"

Rolyn Kate shrugged, "It’s not about me leaving you be. It’s about the people who are too mesmerized by you!"

"Well then!" Laston decided to compromise. He knew the blind date arranged by the Queen could not be rejected. "From which family is this lady?"

Rolyn Kate suddenly laughed in a low pitch. "What! My Palace Chief, are you interested now?"

"No!" Laston quickly denied this. "Your Majesty, I am only a little curious! Which Madame is able to ask you to promote her daughter… or herself?"

The Queen did not want to play guess anymore. "Marquise Levadoria. Her mother just left my castle. How about it? Do you want to see her? Marquise Levadoria was an infamous beauty in the northwest of the Empire!"

Laston just wanted to speak up, but Queen Rolyn Kate already leaned towards him. This Queen grabbed the ear of the Palace Chief while her voice became extremely soft.

"But my advice to you is that that is a little thing that is as stupid as any normal girl. If you plan to marry her, then don’t ever step foot into my palace."

Laston smiled bitterly as he massaged his ear. "Alright! Alright! Your Majesty, you are an existence just like the God. I will naturally listen to you. But, if Marquise Levadoria was a stupid thing, why do you still summon me?"

Rolyn Kate’s expression suddenly became cold. The temperature of the whole room seemed to drop along with the change of expression of the Queen.

"I am in trouble!"

"What… What did you say?" It was not that the Palace Chief did not hear clearly of what she said. It was just that he could not believe it.

"You dumb kid! I am already very clear. I am in trouble!"

Laston quickly changed into a serious expression. If Queen Rolyn Kate Karl Arnold Morisette admitted that she was in trouble, then this trouble must be much more serious than the sky falling down.

"My little son-in-law that is Prince O’Neil and I had made an alliance."

The Palace Chief nodded knowingly, "But Your Majesty, this is a good thing! Even though the Prince has been proven to be unwelcome in the Andrew Family, he himself holds horrifying power, especially in Dulin. The investigation of the Secret Service Department clearly shows that it is highly probable that it is this Prince that is controlling the Lair. Do you know that? Terrifying sins hid in that place, but this kind of sins also holds a horrifying power. If he and you had made an…"

"I know all of these! I don’t need you to analyze this for me!" Rolyn Kate turned her head away in a rage, "I am only thinking if this is worth it or not."

"How can this be not worth it?" Laston exclaimed! "Even though His Imperial Highness Prince O’Neil is your soon to be son-in-law, he can still ignore your matter! Since he has this relationship with you, why not put this relationship to good use? Don’t see him as a useless young man, Alfa III His Majesty had already made arrangement for his future! Even though I am unclear of the arrangement of His Majesty the Emperor, you must believe in me. The Prince will definitely lead a decision-making department that is of high importance."

Rolyn Kate raised her head slightly. "Really? It’s not like I am doubting this, but this matter is extremely important. I must see his value clearly!’

"Your Majesty, Alfa III His Majesty already let Princess Alanis marry him. Can’t you think what arrangement His Majesty has for him? He will make the Prince into a powerful figure that is able to affect and control Andrew!"

Rolyn Kate nodded lightly, "But the cost of communicating with him is truly too high! Do you know how that little guy makes his move on me?"

"What happened?"

The Queen smiled coldly. "Do you still remember that Viscount in the Andrew Family? The one living in Dulin."

Laston suddenly understood everything! "That Viscount Tich Nedgabel Andrew Golbagd? I heard that he was involved in an assassination case recently!"

Rolyn Kate took her feather fan to hit the Palace Chief. "Don’t act dumb here! The action set up by the Secret Service Department in the Capital had to be signed by you and Rudolf Hoss to be effective. You should know about that assassination case."

Laston smiled awkwardly, "So the trouble Your Majesty talked about is this matter? I do know about this matter, but it should have been dealt with perfectly! Viscount Golbagd who realized that his identity had been found had already fled the Capital two weeks ago. He won’t ever come back!"

"Yes! He won’t ever come back!" The Queen sighed, "But his cousin actually wanted me to give him the culprit that assaulted this Viscount! If I handed it to him, I believe it would be really troublesome to work with Rudolf Hoss, that insidious guy, next time. If I don’t hand it to him, then what shall I give to show my sincerity in working with O’Neil Andrew Morisette? And also, that little guy is definitely a smart and powerful guy. Since he requested this of me, he must know clearly of my relationship with the Secret Service Department."

The Palace Chief was a little troubled. Rudolf Hoss was the head of the Secret Service Department. If they were to sell his spies out, this guy who easily changed his attitude toward people would not necessarily make any reaction. With the trust of the Emperor, he could do anything. He only remained a respectful attitude toward the Queen! Rejecting the Prince? That was also extremely difficult! The support of the Emperor toward this Prince was becoming more obvious. His future and status were definitely immeasurable!

"Then! Taking the consequence that is less significant among the two…" Laston Cambre had an answer. "Your Majesty, you should choose to accept the suggestion of the Prince because he is your son-in-law after all. If he developed a good relationship with you, won’t that be a stronger relationship than what you have with Rudolf Hoss?"

Rolyn Kate nodded without showing much emotion. In fact, more than anyone else she knew clearly of how to treat her relationship with the Prince. It was just that it was more suitable for the Palace Chief to deal with this troublesome matter because at least part of Rudolf Hoss’s hatred could be diverted. Laston Cambre that was the second in the chair of the Secret Service Department in name had a part in selling his Secret Service Officer!

The Queen waved her hands. She signaled that the Palace Chief could excuse himself now.

"Laston, the last date for me to reply to the Prince is at four in the afternoon today. I am more inclined towards your judgment, then… represent me and contact him! You should know what to do!"

Marquis Cambre excused himself respectfully. His lowered face showed a mocking smile. That was right! He represented the Queen to be the clown, but the Queen would soon understand that losing the support of the Secret Service Department was the same as losing initiative for at least in a short period. When this Queen decided to come back and deal with the Ferdinand Family, the Ferdinand Family, she would realize that her support from Secret Service Department was becoming less and less. In this way, Alfa III His Majesty and old Duke Kachev could have enough time to deal with it.

"When that time comes, I wonder who the clown will be?" Stepping out of the guest room, the Palace Chief mumbled in a cold tone.

The snow had stopped! It was during the evening. The whole Dulin seemed to have lost its sound. Only the north wind was howling alone. The light of the City was reflected on the snowy ground, forming areas of yellow spots of light. At this moment, the north wind came to join as well. It blew a layer of snow dust particles into the air.

The sky was so depressed that it was as if it would fall to the ground at any time! It seemed like it would still snow tomorrow. The aged old man mumbled. The thick cloud from afar was still gathering itself. The snowline at the sky horizon closed in on Dulin once again.

The crow soared in the sky in troops. They were searching the ground carefully. They searched the branches. This bunch of living things that were able to pass through hell did not plan to leave out any edible things. For example, the frozen wild dog and the homeless people that lied on the ground, living or dead, would be their options.

The luxurious house emitted a bright shine. The snow gathered on the status and the ceilings of the house. The light on the streets made these ancient mansions look just like the buildings in a fairy tale. It was not that dark yet. Behind the walls of the high-class mansion, a series of laughter could be heard. The streets resumed to its lively state during the lonely moment when the snow stopped. It was the moment for the children to act!

The nobles made their own game. They would build snowman under the lead of their parents or home tutor. They would wear capes made of geese feather on the snowman and insert the wine glass as its nose. The normal children did not have such interest. They would use snowball that had rocks mingled in it to greet the passerby and the soldier of the Ministry of Justice. When the adult intended to take revenge, these wild children would run away in all directions loudly. Before running away, they did not forget to spurt out a few dirty words they learned from their parents.

At the lower area of the city, the snow was half a meter deep. The people cleared the thick snow in front of their house, but they were not willing to go out.

The soldier of the Ministry of Justice had already begun clearing the snow, but they had limited manpower. Their working efficiency was extremely low as well. It was not the same with the mansion of the nobles. The butler who wore neat clothing yelled in a loud voice as he pointed. The servants and even maids were rushed to the street. The cheap slaves and servants worked at extremely low temperature, but they did not complain. Luckily, their master had thought about this when the snow had not frozen the road yet. If it was tomorrow, they believed their work would be even more difficult.

The poor citizens went out to search for jobs respectively. The heavy snow could freeze a person to death, yet it could also bring a little income to the family. The rich people did not care about hiring a few people with nothing to do to clean the snow outside of their house. The nobles did not mind hiring a few workers to help them to drag the carriage out from the snowy ground.

"Sir! Do you need me to work for you? The snow in front of your house was thick enough! I believe it will completely freeze tomorrow morning." Doramy Basinger shivered as he took his broke hat off his head. He said this as he bowed deeply and respectfully to the man behind the door. He looked the same as a poor old man at this moment.

This man glanced at the old man and spewed out smoke in disdain.

"Listen to me. We don’t need your service. Stay away from this house!"

The King of Sins was extremely disappointed. He shivered as he wore the hat again. "May the God of Light bless you. I hope I can work for you next time!"

The door shut in a loud bang. The poor old man walked out of the garden. He trotted slowly into the snowy night.

At an intersection three streets away from this house, four carriages were neatly arranged at that place. After a whistle, one of the carriages had its door opened suddenly. A thin old man went inside it in a swift.

"How was it?" Oscar regretted it as soon as he said it. He slapped his forehead! "I am sorry! Dear Messier, I forgot you are the head."

The ex-Secret Service Action Officer smiled in a serious manner. "That is fine, Your Highness. Let us listen to this."

The King of Sins used his mouth to take off his gloves. He was from the south. It was truly hard for him doing his duty on such a snowy and cold day.

"That is a two-level mansion. The garden is really big. There is a whole, round fence that is about one meter high. There is a bell tied to the fence. It looks not much different from a normal house."

Doramy took out paper and a quill from the storage place in the carriage. He drew as he explained, "According to my estimation, the style of this house should be this way. There are six rooms on the first floor. The living room and the room with its window facing the north had their lights on. The walkway should be here and the kitchen here. This is the back door. There are at least four rooms on the second floor. The ones with its window facing the south and that with its window facing the north had their lights on. Also, another point to note is that I have been observing that place for four hours. There is a person who came out of the house to get wood for lighting fire. That amount of wood is almost enough to light up every fire in the room. And then, the ones that opened the door for me is another person. That is to say that I can be sure that there are at least two people in the house."

Messier smiled slightly. "Your Highness, this is a high-class living area. The people nearby had lightened up their room. We are going to infiltrate one of the room and catch the suspect without knowing exactly how many people there would be. To be honest, I had not done something so interesting for a long time."

Oscar nodded without care, "I knew there should be three to four of them."

"No!" Messier shook his head. "Just as Mr. Doramy had said, if they had prepared a fire for each room, then they would definitely have more than four people. Are you adventurous? Are you going to go home and sleep? I need your answer."

Oscar, relaxed, made an understood expression. "Then… As you wish!"
