Chapter 176.2 - The day of coming back (after a wedding)

Lou Qingwu looked in front of her silently, sighing, “What’s happening with the second prince?”

“Second prince? These few days, he’s been following master’s orders and learning how to manage court affairs. Even though the emperor hasn’t titled him the crown prince yet, we’ve put pressure on him and he’s already started to give power to the second prince, bit by bit. We just don’t know how much actual power the emperor holds.”

“En, is he still against marriage any more?”

“No. The people that we sent over haven’t reported back anything unusual so the second prince has most likely started to accept it.”

Lou Qingwu then stood up and walked over to the window, looking at the barren tree branches of the tree outside.

“Seeing as his personality has settled, we’ll make a move on Shangguan Yiyun tomorrow.”

Lan Bai froze.

Her eyes then lit up, suddenly instantly realising what her master was saying.

Li Ziqing’s affair was enough for Li Jingsheng to have a headache over.

But what if the future second prince’s consort hung herself because she was flirted with?

Then apart from the right prime minister, his grandmother and that dastardly Mrs Fan-Li would be enough to flip over the entire Li residence into a mess.

Then when would he have time to think about who was involved with Li Ziqing’s death?

On the second day, Lou family’s second daughter Lou Lianxin returned home after her wedding.

Because Lou Lianxin was married into the Lou residence as a concubine, she could only act very low-key.

Li Jingsheng had nearly slept in his study room every day since and hadn’t seen her at all.

So when Lou Lianxin returned, she came back by herself.

When she leapt off the carriage, only Ruan Zhen was waiting there for her.

Seeing Ruan Zhen, the tears that Lou Lianxin had been restraining in, suddenly all fell down.

She looked at Ruan Zhen with teary eyes, her head plunging into Ruan Zhen’s embrace.

Ruan Zhen not preparing a dowry for her, would forever be a stick in her heart.

But after what she had suffered in the Li residence, even though that stick was hard to bear, the person in front of her, was still the woman who gave birth to her.

At least Ruan Zhen still treated her sincerely, unlike the people of the Li residence who were absolute demons.

All of them, only hating that they couldn’t swallow her whole.

“Lian’er, don’t cry. Let’s go back first.” Ruan Zhen’s eyes reddened too, but there were people from the Li residence behind Lou Lianxin and there were some things they couldn’t say freely in front of them.

When they reached Ruan Zhen’s pavilion, Ruan Zhen sent away all of the servants.

Lou Lianxin then suddenly dropped to her knees, bowing in front of Ruan Zhen, “Mother … I’m begging you as your daughter, think of a way to get me out of there. I don’t want to stay in that ghost place for a minute longer!”

Return to home day - Chinese marriage tradition that the bride returns to her family on the third day of marriage. Normally, the husband accompanies her and brings gifts back to show how much he loves the bride and how she’s living well at his place, etc. LLX is only a concubine so Li Jingsheng wouldn’t accompany her anyway, but if she was a doted one, he might’ve just come by or even at least, given her some gifts to go back so she has some ‘face’. But there was no one to see LLX and LLX has bigger problems to deal with than her shitty marriage.
