Chapter 24 Part 1

Lin Chuyan made a phone call to his mom, explaining to her Esports Club's
current predicament. His voice was sad and dreary, with a tint of desperation,
which could move people to tears.

His mother asked: “Why have you changed club again?”

“A friend invited me to join.” Lin Chuyan replied, added after a short pause:
“She's very pretty.”

“Oh, really? Send a picture of her to me?”

Before Lin Chuyan could answer, he heard a smirk from his father: “Hmph,
you're playing your tricks on your mom again? Are you pretending that I don't
exist? You can trick her but you can't fool me.” Then, his father's voice sounded
far away. He probably had put down the phone to talk to Lin Chuyan's mother:
“Are you a fool? You've been tricked by him once, how can you trust him again?”

“This time it's a real emergency.” Lin Chuyan said.

“Get lost. You just want money. I don't have it.”

“It's not me, it's the club that needs money. The club is in a very difficult position.
The competition has already been on for a week now. I already told them that the
Yuelin Group will be sponsoring them. Dad, think about the image of your company.
You'll need to come to the university to recruit people during graduation season.”

“Don't play games with me. I know your tricks very well. If your club is in need of
money, you can put it up for them first. You got 120,000 RMB for the watch from
that pawn shop. Don't tell me that you've spent it all.”

“I've spent it all.”

“......”

As father and son were going back and forth, neither of them was expecting the
other one to be so stubborn this time. Lin Chuyan's mother was more interested
in the girl he mentioned and suggested that Lin Chuyan invite her home for a visit.
Lin Xueyuan felt his wife was wavering, who knew which side she would be on in
the end.

Lin Xueyuan took the cell phone outside of the house. He stood in the garden and
said, “You come to me because you have a difficult situation. Alright, now I have a
difficult issue as well. If you can solve my problem, I'll help you out with yours. How
about it?”

Lin Chuyan asked: “Dad, what's your problem?”

“Haw!” Lin Xueyuan unexpectedly sighed. “Do you know what your mom wants for
a birthday gift?”

“I can probably guess.”

“Oh? Tell me about it.”

“Mom probably wants to give me a younger sister, but you……”

Lin Chuyan didn't want to embarrass his father, so he didn't continue but he made
sure the tone of his voice indicated that his father might not be able to.

Lin Xueyuan was furious: “Get lost you brat!”

Lin Chuyan hurriedly changed his tone of voice: “Don't get mad, I'm just joking. It's
me who really wants a younger sister.”

Lin Xueyuan also calmed down: “Don't worry, we won't have a second child.”

“You two don't need to be worrying about my feelings.”

“We have never worried about your feelings…...It's just your mom's health; it's too
dangerous to have another child at her age.”

Lin Chuyan quickly turned the subject back on track and asked: “Then what does
mom want exactly, or, what exactly do you want to give to her?”

“Ugh, you know it too that your mom especially likes an artist in recent years. I
want to ask the artist to paint a picture for her birthday, the kind with inscriptions
for her. I have the money all ready, but……”

“What happened?”

“That artist is quite unusual. He won't paint for any amount of money.”

“Why not?”

“He just won't.”

Lin Chuyan couldn't help chuckling.

“Don't gloat over it.” Lin Xueyuan said. “My problem is this. If you can solve it for
me, I'll sponsor your club, not just this year but the next 3 years as well so you'll
look good in the club. How about it?”

Lin Chuyan wasn't a fool: “Even you can't solve the problem, how can I?”

“Then, I'm sorry. Go beg for your sponsorship!”
