The Great Conqueror Chapter 37

Chapter 37 – Learning War Songs

Ou Nisi Te only needed to focus on eating and training; everything else could be left to his intelligent older brother. In Ou Nisi Te’s heart, Ya Se was an extremely clever Bi Er member.

The breakfast area was like a tornado penetrating the clouds with dishes piled up atop of each other 1. Ao Li Quan Ya—unused to it in the beginning—had slowly come to like it more and more; it was simply too much fun.

“Ah Ya Se, what are your plans?” Tuo Ma Si inquired. In the end he was the master and had to care for his disciple.

He didn’t schedule anything for Ya Se since the first time he had met this rascal he knew he was very opinionated. He might as well remain silent since it would just be useless, just like how Zou Liang obstinately wished for Ou Nisi Te to become a Crusader.

It wasn’t good to be too paranoid, but since he remembered he was the other’s master he still had to ask; only by being paranoid could he successfully fulfill his role.

Though this cheap master only needed to care about providing living spaces and food, Zou Liang still had a lot of respect for him. On the topic of elders, his old man had left this world early and he had not actually met him personally before; the thankfulness he felt towards him came from Ya Se’s soul. Therefore, this cheap master of his was all he had in terms of elders.

“First, I need to create my Engraving Knife; Ou Nisi Te has almost saved enough Beast Spirit and I wish to create a good shield for him. After this, I wish to rope in a few fellow students and see if we can form a team to go to the underworld for a bit of experience. As the Beast God said, if one does not brave through storms, how could they experience a rainbow!”

“You and your quick and clever mouth. ‘If one does not brave through storms, how would one experience a rainbow’, this holds much meaning!” Tuo Ma Si laughed, stroking at his beard.

Ao Li Quan Ya pouted. “This junior brother of mine isn’t good at anything else other than being a bit clever, but I don’t know where you heard this from.”

Zou Liang declined to comment; it was impossible to explain these types of things.

“How about I go and find some people for you? The underworld is very dangerous and I do not want anything to happen to you.”

Tuo Ma Si really valued Ya Se and did not wish for him to meet any unexpected misfortune.

Zou Liang fiercely shook his head. “Master, that would defeat the purpose and yield no fruit. Not only that, you cannot look after me for the rest of my life and I must also bring honour to the temple of Ye Lu Samo.”

These words set themselves in the depths of Tuo Ma Si’s heart. This junior was indeed not normal; though he was this young, he was already so thorough.

“Fine, go ahead and do it. However, do not hesitate if you need this master’s help.”

“Heihei, I won’t be so polite if I have need for funds in any area.” Zou Liang craftily smiled. Ao Li Quan Ya, on the other hand, was very scornful.

Sometimes this person was like a mysterious hero and others he was like a scoundrel. What in the world was this person she had rescued?

Suddenly Ao Li Quan Ya came to a realisation: this was definitely the mission given to her by the Beast God this time, and coming to Ye Lu Samo was in order to save this person. If one was to help someone the

y must help them to the end; since Ya Se had such outstanding talent, she had to help carve this rock into flawless jade.

Ao Li Quan Ya thought of how this could become her first great work, parting her mouth. Her red lips exposed her white teeth: an appearance that would tempt anyone.

“Master, if you have some time, why not teach me a few war songs,” Ya Se suggested while eating.

“Ah, you have an interest in this, too? Being greedy isn’t bad, however you cannot learn everything,” Tuo Ma Si lectured despite knowing Ya Se’s outstanding nature. Though his talent was in another league compared to others, Tuo Ma Si was worried that if he delved into too much and spread himself thin, he wouldn’t be able to accomplish a single thing.

“Relax, Master. I know how to behave. Even though I am interested in many things, I have picked out the main ones; I just want to know more about it as having more skills does not suppress a person. In a crucial moment, these skills could also display their uses, especially from this clever and intelligent disciple of yours.”

Hearing a Bi Er speak so shamelessly was actually hilarious, leaving Tuo Ma Si and Ao Li Quan Ya barely able to hold in their laughter, especially when it was paired with that thick and honest face of the Bi Er tribe. It was really interesting, however after interacting with Ya Se for so long, it was very hard to clump him together with the hard-working, brave, honest, and sincere Bi Er tribe.

“Sure. I, as the Master, need to teach you the genuine thing. Though my abilities are not very good, war songs are my specialty,” Tuo Ma Si stated. As the Head Priest, war songs were essential and without these 2 he would have been kicked off of his pedestal long ago. Though Tuo Ma Si thought it was pleasing to act as this Engraving Priest’s master in name and he had accepted Ya Se, he was unable to teach him anything. He had a few bronze grade designs in his hand but was unable to show them; it was better to conceal such a sight than to show something so ugly. However, in terms of war songs, Tuo Ma Si could be considered the number one expert in Ye Lu Samo City.

“Head Priest, I also want to learn,” Ao Li Quan Ya immediately raised her hand to interject.

This brought Tuo Ma Si a headache that other people didn’t understand. Ou Nisi Te only knew how to eat; to him, whether Tuo Ma Si should teach or not wasn’t a difficult question at all.

Zou Liang really knew how to take advantage of the situation. Evidently, Ao Li Quan Ya had superiors that wished for her to become a Spirit Priestess, and the superiors’ relationship with Tuo Ma Si should be that of friends. He was pressured by the others’ rank he did not wish to offend, but in this situation he also did not wish to let his disciple down.

“Hehe, Master, when you teach me just let Ao Li Quan Ya listen in on the side. Besides, the one you are teaching is me, anyway,” Zou Liang merrily replied, placing a heavy emphasis on the word ‘me’.

Ao Li Quan Ya on the side immediately clapped her hands. “This good junior brother is so clever. Relax, Head Priest, I will just say that I eavesdropped. Anyways, that can come later; you’re one of the few War Song Priests in the holy province; listening to your lectures would even surpass The Pope.”

This kind of flattery had made Tuo Ma Si’s legs tremble and—with a wave of his hand—he replied, “Don’t randomly say such things. How could my small ability be on equal footing with The Pope, hai hai, come find me after you finish dinner.”

Though he said this, in the depths of Tuo Ma Si’s heart he was overjoyed. One could try thousands of ways—tens of thousands of ways—and still not succeed where bootlicking could.

Ao Li Quan Ya gave Ya Se a charming look, intending to thank him for his compassion, however the cautious and careful Zou Liang was as though struck by lightning. It was fortunate this damsel was a priestess that helped those in need or else she would be damaging countries and causing people suffering.

For those who do not understand Chinese culture, every meal is like a potluck and does not come with everything on a dish and it results in a lot of dishes by the meal’s end.  两下 usually means twice but 两下子 means these.
