Chapter 6: shield

Numerous luxury cars could be seen in the carpark, everything from Mercedes-Benz, BMW to a limousine. One could easily tell that most of them were the employee’s personal car, since there were a lot of decals on them.

From these, you could tell that pays their employee very well. It would seem that his 30 grand salary was not a lot after all.

Under the guidance of Uncle Fu, Lin Yi reached a very well maintained blue 728 Bentley 06 edition. Lin Yi could not tell whether the car was newly bought or was the driver just very careful, since it looked very new.

“Mr. Lin, please get on the car.” Said Uncle Fu as he pulled open the front passenger seat’s door.

“You want me to sit on the front passenger seat? Then what about young mistress ….  ” asked Lin Yi after some hesitation.

“Young mistress always sat on the rear seat.” replied Uncle Fu, “She has a bag, so it would be inconvenient for her to seat at the front.”

Lin Yi nodded in agreement as he got onto the car. Uncle Fu then drove the car out of the underground carpark. They were sent off respectfully when their car passed by the security post at the carpark’s entrance.

Uncle Fu was a very seasoned driver. Unlike Lin Yi, who had only learned how to race, Uncle Fu was a law abiding driver.  Lin Yi did not have a choice since he was taught by Gramps; if you cannot win a fight, it is not your fault, but if you are caught because of that, then you deserved it.

Because of that, Lin Yi learned quite a few retreating methods. But Lin Yi only had to apply these methods when he was fighting with Gramps. If it was with someone else, usually they were ones who do the retreating.

“Mr. Lin, do you know how to drive?” Uncle Fu asked, the silent Lin Yi beside him, when they stopped for the traffic lights.

Uncle Fu had been driving for a long time. He could normally tell whether a person knew how to drive from his/her action in the car. Since there was little reaction from Lin Yi, he decided to pop him the question.

“A little,” replied Lin Yi. Being the new guy, he wanted to be modest.

“Do you have a driver’s license?” Uncle Fu did not question how much was ‘a little’. He knew how much the president trusted this person.

“Nope.” Said Lin Yi as he shook his head. Although he knew how to drive and may even have racing experience overseas, he did not have a license: “I just turned 18. I still haven’t gotten the chance to get one.”

“Good, pass me your identification card. I will make one for you. In case I am busy, you can fetch young mistress back home.” Said Uncle Fu.

The car stopped near a very luxurious looking school. But it did not drive near the school. The car must have been too flashy, and it might not be good influence if the students saw it.

From the documents Lin Yi was handed, he understood that is a private high school. But unlike an elite private school, it accepts student base on entrance exams results. There might still be a few rich family’s son and daughter who got in using connections, but most of the student here got in with their own skill.

Since there are three major Groups/companies supporting , everything of the school, from facility to the staff were way better than the other school. That is why the school managed to maintain the 100% promotion rate for the past few years.

Lin Yi understood that the ‘100%’ was not an accurate representation. This is due to some rich and spoiled students who still got into university, using their parent’s power, even if they did not score well enough.

Just then, a very familiar school bell sounded. When Lin Yi heard it, he got a little spaced out. It had been a very long time since he last heard such a sound. The reminiscing only lasted a while, he snapped back into attention and started observing the school’s parade square.

Not long after, students started pouring out of the classroom blocks. Not all of them were wearing the school’s uniform. That was because the school was not very strict with the attire of the students as long as there was no important event.

“That is young mistress.” Said Uncle Fu as he pointed at a particular girl in the group of students that just walked out.

Lin Yi looked at the direction uncle Fu was pointing at. She was a tall and beautiful girl. Although there were others girls beside her, at one glance, Lin Yi knew for sure, that is the young mistress uncle Fu was referring to.

Chu Peng Zhan previously mentioned that Chu Meng Yao was the campus belle, and therefore, she must be the most beautiful one among them, unless Lin Yi sense of beauty was wrong.

There was another girl beside her who is equally beautiful, but was slightly shorter, thus she did not match the profile. But without a doubt, that girl also has the potential to become the campus belle. She would definitely look stunning when she grows up.

As Chu Meng Yao and the other girl walked towards the car, a few male students could be seen trailing behind them.

“Meng Yao, please wait a minute …..” Said one of the male students as the group tried to obstruct Chu Meng Yao way, “Meng Yao, I am serious about wanting to get into a relationship with you, can you give me a chance!!”

Chu Meng Yao frowned, looked at the male student in front of her in disdain, “Zhong Ping Liang, how many time do I have to tell you that I am not interested in you. So can you stop bothering me?”

“But …..” Zhong Ping Liang wanted to say something, but Chu Meng Yao pushed him out of the way.

Chu Meng Yao then hurried over to the car. But to Lin Yi’s surprise, when she opened the door, the girl that was with her boarded the car with her.

“Zhong Ping Liang is so irritating. He comes to bother me every single day? Doesn’t he get tired of it?” Grumbled Chu Meng Yao when she got into the car. Suddenly, she noticed Lin Yi presence who was sitting at the front passenger seat and asked in surprise, “Who are you?”

“Nice to meet you, I am Lin Yi,” Lin Yi knew that young mistress had a short temper, so he tried his best to look as adorable as possible.

“Lin Yi? Uncle Fu, why is he here?” asked the confused Chu Meng Yao as she look at Lin Yi.

“Young mistress, this is the study buddy which president Chu employed for you …..” explained uncle Fu

“Study buddy?? Who needs one? What I ask for is a shield (something like a fake boyfriend to keep the boys away). Look at him, how can he be my shield? Can he even keep anyone away from me? ” exclaimed the panicked Chu Meng Yao as she glance at Lin Yi. What is this guy wearing? Over size vest and torn pants. This is basically a worker-in-city outfit. Some workers were never dressed this shabby.

Uncle Fu started to sweat profusely. He looked at Lin Yi helplessly, and when he saw that there was no reaction form Lin Yi, he let out a sigh of relief. Being the closest person to Chu Peng Zhan, he knew how much effort was put in just to get Lin Yi to take up this job. Even Chu Peng Zhan’s father had to personally help out.
