Chapter 5: Why does it feel like a match making session?

Lin Yi smiled and shook hands with Chu Peng Zhan. Lin Yi had no problem with social etiquette. “Nice to meet you, Mr. Chu”

Lin Yi was overwhelmed by how sincere Chu Peng Zhan was. This was the first time he encountered such a sincere client. Although he was requested to execute a particular mission, why is the president of one of the top companies treating him like an equal? This made Lin Yi really curious.

“Mr. Lin! I know that you may feel troubled, since you have to lower your dignity to do this task…..” said Chu Peng Zhan after hesitating for a while.

As the talk with Chu Peng Zhan got more and more outrageous, even the thick-skinned Lin Yi started to feel embarrassed and said, “It doesn’t demean myself. Back there, at home, I could only earn a few hundred by selling the self-plaited straw sandals; furthermore, Gramps said that this mission‘s reward will be able to last me a lifetime….. ”

Lin Yi thought, this client was kind. He is the one who is paying me to do the mission, and yet he is so sincere. Unlike some people who will immediately start ordering him around after they paid him.

“What? Plait straw sandals?” Chu Peng Zhan was stunned. He carefully observe Lin Yi, and wonder whether did he mistaken him for someone else. What did Lin Yi just say? Don’t tell me elder Lin made him plait straw sandals to earn money? Chu Peng Zhan was now speechless. He had heard his father talk about Lin Yi’s exploits. Just the recent South Africa mission’s reward should amounted to a few hundred million USD. Why is he selling self-plaited straw sandals to earn money?

“Yup, one pair of straw sandals cost 4 dollars, just by plaiting 3-5 sandals every day, I will be able to earn a few hundred in a month.” Lin Yi nodded his head, he also felt that something was wrong. Gramps does not seem like a poor man.

Chu Peng Zhan knew that this was not his business, so he could only shake his head reluctantly when he heard what Lin Yi has to say. “You will be paid 30k a month. It includes the school fee and your daily expenses. Money spent on my daughter can be claimed from Li Fu.”

“30k?? I though Gramps said it was only a few thousands?” Lin Yi was somewhat taken aback.

Can this be true? Such a high salary? If only I knew about this earlier, I would not even bother bringing the money, thought Lin Yi when he remembered the grumpy face of Gramps when he passed him the money. “What a minute, Mr. Chu, what did you just say?? Schooling? School fee? The money spent on your daughter? What do you mean by that? I don’t really understand…..”

Lin Yi was now very confused. What did Chu Peng Zhan mean? Wasn’t he called here to execute some mission?

“Oh?? Elder Lin did not brief you about the details? Then please come this way, I will explain the situation to you in detail upstairs.” Chu Peng Zhan smiled, and they walked side by side to the elevator.

Lin Yi had completed all sorts of weird mission over the past few year, and although he was puzzled about what Chu Peng Zhan said, so he was not surprise by it.

Chu Peng Zhan was now his employer, even the pay was high, so when walking with Chu Peng Zhan, Lin Yi slowed his pace so he would be walking behind Chu Peng Zhan. However, Chu Peng Zhan also slowed down his pace to match Lin Yi’s.

Naturally, Lin Yi noticed that and that surprised him. Why was Chu Peng Zhan being so friendly? Although Lin Yi was very curious, he did not voice out his question since this was their first meeting. They had not been acquainted with each other, so it would be awkward to ask such questions. But that was not a problem. Lin Yi should be able to find out the answer eventually.

Chu Peng Zhan’s office was at the top floor of the building. It was approximately 200 sq. meter, large windows cover one side of the room, causing the room to be brightly lighted.

After accompanying Chu Peng Zhan and Lin Yi to the office, Li Fu left immediately to instruct the secretary Xiao Yu to get some drinks for them.

“Mr. Lin, what would you like to have?” Xiao Yu got to know Lin Yi surname from Li Fu earlier.

“Plain water will do.” Most of the time at home Lin Yi only drank plain water, so it became a habit.

Xiao Yu paused for a while, but still smile and said, “Sure, please wait”. The reason why she did not ask President Chu was because he always took the same drink every day.

“Mr. Lin, from today onwards you will become a high school student, Li Fu will enroll you into year 3 class 5. You are going to be in the same class as my daughter Chu Meng Yao. You are to escort her to school and back home. In addition to that, you have to look after her and supervise her studies…….In order words, you are to keep her company……For the past few years, I have been neglecting my daughter. I feel really guilty, so I want to have someone whom she is comfortable with to keep her company…..This is the real reason why I got you to come…..You are about the same age as her, so you guys should have some common interests to talk about right? ” Chu Peng Zhan said with a smile on his face.

Lin Yi is now speechless. Find someone whom she is comfortable with?? Care for her?? Common interest?? This can’t be right?? Is this the mission that can let me not work for the rest of his life??? Why does is seem more like he is looking for a husband for his daughter? Don’t tell me that girl has some physiological problem and no one wants to marry her, and I am here to play that role?

“Mr. Lin, are you alright??” When Chu Peng Zhan saw Lin Yi astonished expression, he knew what Lin Yi was thinking about. “I thought that elder Lin would already have told you the mission details. But that doesn’t seem to be the case?”

“Mr. Chu, please just refer to me as Lin Yi. Mr. Lin is just too awkward.” Lin Yi gave a bitter smile and said, “To be honest with you, I really didn’t know the detail of this mission when I came over. Gramps only told me that this is a very important mission and if I complete it, I can retire and won’t have to work anymore.”

“Retire and don’t have to work anymore?” Chu Peng Zhan was a bit stunned when he heard Lin Yi. But immediately, he broke into laughter: “Hahahahaha, true, elder Ling told you the truth. The reward of this mission is enough for you to spend in your entire lifetime.”

“But……” Lin Yi was still really confuse about the job specification: “What exactly is this mission???”

“I thought I have already brief you earlier? Accompany my daughter, study with her. Of course, you are also in charge of her safety. Do not let anyone bully her.” Explained Chu Peng Zhan.

“Study buddy? Babysitter?” Lin Yi could not find any better words to describe the job.

“Uh……That’s another way to put it.” Nodded Chu Peng Zhan. Before Lin Yi could say anything, some document were passed to him, “This is the information about , please familiarize yourself with it.”

Lin Yi nodded his head helplessly and received the documents. Is this really a high level mission?? Were some important details left out??

In the past, Gramps once told him to go rescue one person……but in the end, it was not a single person, but a bunch of them…..

Never mind. The pay was good and the risk was low. Even if I have to be young mistress’s lackey, I will just treat this as a vacation.

might be called First High school, but it is in fact a private secondary school. The name was not changed when it was bought over. Chu Peng Zhan’s is one of the three major shareholders.

That was the reason why Lin Yi, who had not even attended primary school, could enrolled into the school that easily. Lin Yi might have not attended a school before, but from the internet, he know how difficult it is for a country-side person to study in the city.

“Ok, I will do my best to accomplish this job.” Nodded Lin Yi, after he briefly skimmed though the documents.

“Chu Meng Yao might have a short temper, but she is not a bad child at heart.” When Chu Peng Zhan smile bitterly when he mentioned this. “You are very talented, so you should be able get along with her.”

Get along with her? Lin Yi does not expect himself to be able to get along with this young mistress. He was not looking for a girlfriend, why did he have to get along with her? Although Lin Yi feel that way, he said: “I will try my best.”

Chu Peng Zhan noticed Lin Yi perfunctory action. He smiled and called out to the door, “Li Fu, Yao Yao’s (Chu Meng Yao) class is about to end, why don’t you bring Mr. Lin over so he can familiarize himself with the environment there.”

“Mr. Chu, please call me Lin Yi, Xiao Yi is fine too. It feels really awkward if you call me Mr. Lin.” Said Lin Yi.

“Okay, I will call you Xiao Yi, since I am your senior. You should stop calling Mr. Chu then, call me uncle Chu will do.” Nodded Chu Peng Zhan, and didn’t dwell on this issue.

Lin Yi nodded and followed Li Fu to take the elevator down to the building carpark.
