Chapter 69- At The End Of The Day

……..Fuuu, that was quite a good nap.

Ok, it's almost time for dinner. I headed down to the ground floor, and I could see that today was a lot more congested than usual. Ah, it seems that the adventurers who had gone for the cleanup of the Great Invasion have finally returned.

While I was thinking about that, I was also looking for a place to sit.

“Oi Yuma, over here. I've already reserved you a seat.”

Oo, as usual, Iguru held a seat for me.

I really appreciate Iguru for holding a seat for me.

And so, I took the seat in front of Iguru.

“Thanks for holding a seat for me.”

“It's alright, it's nothing to thank me for.”

While I was talking with Iguru, Sari came over.

“Hm, Yuma-san, you already woke up! And here I was just about to come over and wake you up. It will take quite awhile to get dinner ready, so please wait for a little while.”

Saying so, Sari returned to the kitchen.

Hmm, the diner seems to be pretty crowded, no wonder Sari said it would take quite awhile. In this crowd, dinner making will take a while. Let’s wait patiently while talking with Iguru.

While I was thinking about such things, Iguru started talking.

“Come to think of it Yuma, you travelled to the Gordo Forest on a solo mission, right? What happened?”

“Ahh, I was able to take care of about 200 monsters. Meru-san said that this amount was enough to reduce the numbers of Gordo Forest, so the clean-up operation for it is complete.”

Iguru, who heard what I said, looked at me disbelievingly, while having a stunned expression on his face.

“Haha! As expected of such a person! Still, the power of an S-Rank is nothing to scoff at. Moreover, I heard about a rumour that such adventurers end up backing the adventurers guild with their power later on.”

Oi, wait a second, what did you just say about that rumour?

I have never heard of such a thing. Who said that?

“Hey Iguru, who is the person that is spreading that rumour?”

I asked that to Iguru while letting out a little bloodlust.

Although Iguru was chatting unrestrained,

“A, ah. I don't know who started it at first, but it was definitely because of Guren-san that the number of rumours have increased. He said that you were moving faster than expected, and that it would be good for you to succeed as the Guild Master in the future! That is what he said.”

Ah, so it was Guren-san, now I understand.

That's right, now I understand why that man was so persistent for me to join the Magic Academy. But~, I do appreciate your evaluation of me to such an extent, but please don't push such huge responsibilities on me so quickly.

“Come to think of it Iguru, you went to the Stone Forest with Guren-san, right? How was the operation?”

“Ah, it was huge success. Today alone we were able to clean-up around a 100 or so monsters. Although it was a little more than usual, but it's fine since we will be going tomorrow as well.”

“Is that so, then I guess it worked out pretty well.”

“Ahh, Guren-san took care of most of the Cockatrices. Ah, that Marubuta is quite the amazing guy. He did in quite the number while attacking and defending at the same time, although his fights were slowing down and roughed up, he was still really amazing. He was able to protect his comrades while he fought, it was very good.”

Ho, Marubuta seems to have been fighting pretty hard over at the Stone Forest.

But, this also means that he has grown up quite a bit, and has finally stopped getting into fights with his guild mates.

“I guess the reason that he has changed so much from his original personality is because of you Yuma, I spoke to him while we were moving together. He kept saying that he wanted to be recognized by his Aniki*.”

(TL: *Aniki- Respectful way to address your older brother)

That Marubuta, why does he respect me so much?

To be honest, I hardly ever thought of him, all I knew about him was his name is Marubuta, and his pig-like face. I didn’t know though that he cherished me so much. Until now, he used to call me Aniki-this and Aniki-that, but I never really took it to heart. Alright, i'll help out Marubuta if he is ever in trouble.

And then, I guru spoke about various things that happened within the Stone Forest,

“Yuma-san, Iguru-san, sorry to have kept you waiting! Here is your dinner.”

Saying so, Sari placed the dinner on the table in front of us.

“Thank you Sari, it looks quite delicious today as well.”

“YES! I worked hard today! Please have plenty!”

And so, Sari returned back to the kitchen, she still seems to be quite busy.

“Alright! Let's have some Yuma. I had hunted quite a bit today, so I am rather hungry.”

“That's right. I'm at my limit as well, let's dig in.”

Me and Iguru ate rather quickly. There was quite a lot of food on the plate, but after a few minutes, everything on the table was eaten.

“Ouuu, that was delicious! Having good food after working hard doing hunting really pays off.”

“Ahh, absolutely!”

It was really delicious. It was as Iguru said, eating dinner after a hard day's work really makes it more delicious. This taste isn’t something that I have experienced even before I became a NEET.

“Fuu~, I feel really sleepy after a big meal like this. Alright Yuma, i'm going back to my room to sleep”

“Ok, I guess I will return to my room as well.”

And so, Iguru returned back to his room ahead of me.

I stood up as well, and I could see that Sari was still working, so I lightly waved my hand, and slowly moved back to my room.

I then laid back down on the bed as usual.

“Fuu, i’m really tired!”

It's true that i've heard that sleeping right after eating dinner is really bad, but this is a different world. So, i'll just take it easy and only think about it as a good thing! I reflected on the bed about today’s experience.

“There was a list of things I did today; talking at the guild, the cleanup operation at the Gordo Forest, and encountering the Black Wolf bandits while returning.”

That talk was really nerve-racking and problematic.

Guren-san suddenly called, and the City Lord and Magic Academy's head were also present, it’s obvious that I would be nervous.

It went a lot easier than I expected though. Especially Guren-san and Albert-san, they were fighting as if they were little kids, and the City Lord kept trying to pacify the two of them.

“Haha, even now, I can't stop laughing when I remember it.”

But, it was nice that I was able to speak properly. It's probably thanks to the increase in my skill level that I was able to speak that well. Rather than that, i'm also still growing after coming into another world.

And after cleaning up the monsters was the Black Wolves.

Speaking of which, Meru-san did say that the amount of monsters I hunted today is a good enough quote for Gordo Forest, so what will I do for tomorrow? Should I probably join Iguru and the others to hunt at the Stone Forest? Although I don't wish to show my skills in front of everyone, but I think I would do fine against a normal Cockatrice.

“Fuu, I have been spending my day quite productively lately. It’s a feat that I would have never expected when I was living as a NEET.”

This also makes my day very fulfilling. This is because of Sari, Iguru, and the others, I should thank them properly.

While I was having such thoughts, I fell asleep……..
